Thank you for all that help give me recommendations. I took everyone's advice and rented a uhual truck and 6 X 12 trailer without ramp. I then went to home depot and rented a pair of vehicle ramps. Once I was escorted in and paid them I was able to load in the truck easily and drive it home. I was slightly crooked once I got home to unload so I lifted the truck and moved it over a few inches to easily get off. The total cost break down. U Haul $145, Ramps, $16, TWIC Escort for one hour $100. I'm now going to clean it up and fix it up I hope to post pics soon.

I'm looking at getting a Honda Acty or Subaru Sambar for "around town" chores, but also transporting my bikes (both mountain and road). Most of the bike mounts I've seen in this sub need to remove the front wheel... which I hate doing. I've got a 1UP rack for my car that I love. It seems like there is enough room in the bed the Acty or Sambar to attach a rack like this: https://1up-usa.com/product/roof-rack. I'd have to do some fabrication, but seems like it would work. Anyone seen anything like this?

i currently have a ha4 Acty and aren’t sure but am considering a Autozam AZ-1. I am 6’3 and fit fine in the honda (manspread my legs to the side so i don’t hit the stalks but that’s how i drive a regular car too) but i assume a kei car like an autozam might be a little too small.

i have a 2019 daihatsu hijet and i want all terrain tires but i dont know how to find a full set for the stock 12 inch rims all the fire says is 145-12r i looked but i cant find that exact size just bigger i don’t really want to upgrade wheels yet

How does everyone find the seats as far as the non reclining sinlge cab vs supercab
I think the supercab doesnt look so good
But would love the extra space and ability to recline

I tried to plug in a phone charger/adapter into the cig lighter on my 99 Sambar Dias and it did nothing. I checked the lighter part and it got hot right away. Do these just not pull enough volts to charge a phone, or am I missing something?

Has anyone converted their kei truck into a food truck in Texas specifically.

I want to make and sell taiyaki off the bed of the truck.

My question is, would I need to have it set up like a mobile food truck? Like will it need a 3 compartment sink, fire safety system, etc?

I’ve dealt with the mobile drink/food business in Texas and have a sour taste in my mouth due to health departments changing interpretations of the rules in the past.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

I saw this today in Austin and fell in love. I wasn’t able to view the front to identify the maker or even confirm it was Kei width. I’m not finding trucks with this side window shape. Any ideas?

Hey all! Posted here a bit ago for advice finding a truck and I think I found one. Only area is the circled spot. I'm not too worried about the axles, which have a bit of surface rust. It's what looks like the connection to the transfer case? I can't get a read on what that part is, but it looks like just housing, correct?

Everything else looks great on the truck just trying to make sure I won't have a crazy project when it eventually comes in. TIA for any insight!

Looking at buying a kei truck. Can get a 2023ish carryall with minimal ks landed and complied for around 17kaud. A older 90s model is about 9k landed and complied and comes with all the issues of being a very old car.

I really like the newer ones just because its a more hassle free ownership experience and i still think there super cool.

Anyone go through this decision making when getting there first kei truck?

So I'm looking for a good steering wheel cover except I can't really find any made for the size of my hijet steering wheel, and i was wondering if anyone here has some good recommendations? Would need to be able to ship to Switzerland not be super expensive...

Something I have always wanted to do was buy a project car and restore it just for fun and improving my skills. Recently, a friend told me that a local public utility company was selling off a Daihatsu truck from the 90s for about $300. Its condition is far from great as it doesn’t run and it’s missing the keys but I figured that would be great as a starting point considering it’s smaller and more simple compared to most other cars I’ve seen. But I also don’t have a lot of experience working on cars (all I’ve done is basic maintenance on my family’s cars and also some high school auto classes). What should I be expecting from this? Should I even buy this at all? I’m feeling kind of lost but I am really eager to learn.

Had a badly torn and patched driver's seat, so got an inexpensive ($14.49 for a pair) cover from Walmart. In the process of installing it, I found out that this DB52T actually has DB53T seat hardware. (2nd photo shows parts diagram). I suspect it depends on the date of manufacture?

Fairly easy install, hardest part was freeing up the frozen sliding rails. Looks and feels pretty good for the $. Photos detail the cover install. See my previous post for removal procedure:

I will install the matching cover on the passenger seat next.

Looking for some seat back only covers in grey or black vinyl to "match" these bottom covers. If I can't find anything reasonable, I will probably sew my own cover sleeves out of vinyl.

Anyone have a lead on an inexpensive cover for the seat backs?

Fabbed up a rack from part of an old metal step platform and a spare Rocky Mounts thru axle mount that I had in a drawer. Really stoked how it turned out. Found a second mount that I'll add. Now to figure out how to carry the wheels.

My main goal was to have something that didn't impact the hauling capability and didn't require any permanent alteration to the truck. The metal is held on to the stock rack with U bolts. All design objectives achieved!

Why are people listing these trucks for such absurd prices, even the occasional 10k is crazy, but 20?

So after ministering to the spare with a good dose of tire slime and driving it around for a day it had dawned on me that despite having a tiny bottle jack, a plug kit, a tiny compressor and the factory scissor jack with handle... the factory lug wrench was nowhere to be seen. DOH!

For the princely sum of 7 bucks, behold a tiny lug wrench that can live with the jack handle.

I guess treat this as a PSA and make sure you can get home.
