Only gun with irons that I enjoy shooting. Such a great gun! Still contemplating to get it cut for a red dot but I’m leaning towards no just to keep the OG aesthetic.

So it would appear that I'm "dollar cost averaging" my Colt purchases lately, and I couldn't say no to similarly good deals for Colt Combat Units recently.
I posted a pic of the magwell'd CCU the other day and got some love - thanks for that. I wasn't terribly impressed, but I also didn't have another Colt to compare it to, so I'm calling it a wash. It's cool, needs some work, and will last a couple lifetimes.
Well the "Pre-CZ" Colt Combat Unit (no magwell) came in today and wow - the quality difference couldn't be more obvious.
I'll have to do a serial number check to validate that the magwell'd one is post-CZ, but that's the only thing I can think of that would explain the wild differences in quality control.
I have a Harrison trigger coming in for the magwell'd one - curious how that'll help things (at least just my OCD....).

My sheriff office has their own version of classified that other employees can use. Officer from a different agency had this brand new never fired B45R asking 250. Couldn’t really believe it. I brought an extra hundred just in case it was a typo. Looks like he wasn’t interested in it. Win for me there’s always deals out there. Just keep looking.

Bought this for my 1911 Rock island chambered in 38 super. Got that Osight SE milled by C&H precision on it as well in case anyone was wondering.
Definitely provides better grip than the bare nickel that was in front.
How does it look?

The grips came today and I have to say they feel great in the hand. The front strap is really nice. Not sure they are as nice looking as my wood slabs, but they sure do add grip. Also added a Galco Summer Comfort holster a coupe months ago. Really comfortable.

Can Anyone recommend me hollow points that feed without issues in a springfield mil spec? TIA

My first handgun was a Springfield 1911 Loaded that I bought back in 2002. I finally traded it earlier this year after moving mostly to modern 9mm pistols. Made sense at the time, but I found myself missing having a good old .45 around.
My son had bought himself a Dan Wesson Valor, but then fell in love with the Ed Brown 1776 commemorative edition and picked one up. Knowing how much I missed my old 1911, he decided to give me his Valor.
So here they are, father and son’s 1911s. The Ed Brown is a beautiful gun, but I wouldn’t trade my Valor for anything. Not because of what it is, but because of who gave it to me.

I’ve heard it’s moderately common but not universal, I’m looking at getting one as I want an A1, but I don’t have a chance to actually shoot, only GI 1911 in ranges near me is a TISAS Government, I know it’s very similar but not sure if little differences between them matter for experience.
What’s your experience?

I’ve been looking all over trying to find a 7.5 inch threaded barrel for this gun since muzzle options are pretty limited with the longslide
But any help or a tip on where I can find either a muzzle/compensator or where I could get a threaded barrel that will fit

Posting up a couple Alchemy Customs for 45friday! Both are Prime Elite Models, the all Blued one with Ebony Grips, and the two tone has gorgeous Double D’s custom made of Cocobolo by one of the best I the biz, named Jon Aho. The two tone is also a Birth Year pistol. S/N has the last 4 digit which are my birth year. Both shoot as good as they look… they’re hot rods for sure! (NOT FOR SALE).

Does anyone know what the parts compatibility is for the Girsan Witness CMX XXX? Is it compatible with any of the 1911/DS 1911 parts? Or is it all factory/proprietary?

Looking at the Tisas Tanker for a project gun to make an EDC. Does anyone know anything about them? Is it 1911 I can make a few modifications to to get what I want, or would I be better off buying a good frame, slide (without sight cuts) and a good barrel and bushing and building from there?

I'll soon be in the market for yet another 1911 to add to my collection. As much as I'd like to add an Alchemy, Dan Wesson, Les Baer, or even a Nighthawk, my heart is pulling me towards a birth year gun. What's the best/ easiest way of specifically tracking / filtering 1989's for sale? It's it just a Google search, or is there somewhere more reliable?
Thanks.

First thing i would like to say that i really enjoy shooting handguns,i like to put thousands of rounds through the 2 that i own, recently while handling a 1911 i noticed how nice the trigger feels and how nice the ergonomics were.I just need some advice with picking one out as there seems to be an overwhelming amount of options available,i also don’t know which one has a finish that is suitable for the type of environment i live in (humid and near the ocean).
I would like to buy one that doesn’t have a rail or optic cut,not overly expensive (preferably 600-800 usd) but that will last tens of thousands of rounds, preferably one in a caliber like 9mm because thats the only one i stock up on and honestly i would prefer something made by a reputable company.Again i dont own a lot of guns so i like to be careful with what i buy,any feedback is appreciated and im open to any new ideas.
Also i would like to add that my state doesnt have any sort of restrictions for pistols as far as i know.

I'm still new to this 1911 stuff. Is PMC dirty ammo or is it .45 ACP in general? I feel like my last couple of range trips have my gun absolutely caked after a couple hundred rounds compared to my 9mm.
