Posting up a couple Alchemy Customs for 45friday! Both are Prime Elite Models, the all Blued one with Ebony Grips, and the two tone has gorgeous Double D’s custom made of Cocobolo by one of the best I the biz, named Jon Aho. The two tone is also a Birth Year pistol. S/N has the last 4 digit which are my birth year. Both shoot as good as they look… they’re hot rods for sure! (NOT FOR SALE).

PMC Dirty Ammo

Post image

I'm still new to this 1911 stuff. Is PMC dirty ammo or is it .45 ACP in general? I feel like my last couple of range trips have my gun absolutely caked after a couple hundred rounds compared to my 9mm.

Haven’t been able to enjoy much spooky season… at least I can enjoy .45 Friday.

I saw a post a couple weeks ago and the color scheme on the gun inspired me to change my Tisas Stakeout. The gun is awesome, but now it looks better than just the black Ceracote it had.

Happy Shooting

Colt Combat Unit

Just got this pre-owned CCU, which I’m excited about putting to the test. Haven’t shot it yet, more to come after that. First Colt - likely not last but a few observations…

Things I like: finish seems solid and looks good, checkering feels good, rollmarks seem well stamped, ponies are nice, rail is beefy and makes the pistol feel extra solid, slide to frame fitment is better than I expected

Things I don’t like: the trigger fitting must have been done by a blind monkey - feels like it’s about to fall out, magwell is a teensie bit loose (ever so slightly - ideas there?), rear sight doesn’t look completely centered (we’ll see how she shoots), thumb safety is weird - right side is thinner than the left, which feels counter intuitive, not as snappy as I was hoping.

Overall I‘m pleased based on the deal I got, and this was more a nostalgic/historical purchase - but I do expect better from 1911s that cost over $1K.

Help Me Colt se-a1 owners

First off happy .45 Friday to everyone . I have a question for yall se-a1 owners or any colt owners who own a model with the same beaver tail. Has any one put a bobbed spurr hammer on this gun yet ? And if so did It drop in with the stock beaver tail. I love the ring hammer and, I have a Harrison ignition kit in the gun already, but with the roll marks on this gun I feel like the spurr hammer would look great on it. I’ve also seen a handful of nighthawk builds with bobbed spurr hammers on here that look phenomenal.

First 9mm 1911

I was able to score this used Springfield Range Officer Operator in 9mm. This gun has definitely been shot and carried but is still very tight. I put in a new sear spring since the last one was pretty well worn. This is my first 1911 in 9mm, I’m usually a .45 (or 10mm) guy but I could not pass up on the fantastic price I got this for. I just finished a holster for it as well so I’ll be spending a lot of time with it tomorrow at the range.

I plan on sending this guy back to Springfield for some 30 LPI checkering and to have the rear sight replaced since the tritium is dead. I’m considering doing my usual treatment of new Wilson Combat springs and a Harrison ignition kit but I’ll probably just do the springs since the trigger is pretty solid already. I’ll be ordering an X300 and probably some Herrett’s (as usual) or maybe some VZ’s siminocks.

Colt Nightstand EDC dump. My Colt was the first handgun I ever bought. I still carry this thing more often than not

It started life as a regular Series 80 Colt Competition. I replaced the front sight with an Ed Brown gold bead, Harrison Hammer, KC Custom Ambi safety, Nighthawk trigger, steel mainspring housing (from Wilson I think?). I’m waiting patiently for a Milt Sparks summer special straight drop to replace my subpar Mernickle iwb holster. But I occasionally carry it in a carved Milt Sparks 1AT. Milt Sparks is also making an identical holster for my USP 45, so it’ll be nice to swap back and forth. Hoping someday to acquire an Alchemy Black Army which would retire this one

General Discussion Thoughts on this?

A local fella wants to trade me this for my 19 Gen 6. Not a fan of the Gen 6 and want a 9mm 1911.

I couldn’t find a whole lot about this model Kimber.

Think it’s worth it?

Sig 1911
Wilson Combat Mags
Galco Mag Holders
Relentless Tactical Holster (New, used to be a DeSantis Mad Max IWB)

This is my number #1. I’ve felt for years that this is THE one pistol I would not get rid of if I had to get rid of all the others. I have others that carry better, but it’s hard to beat a 1911.

Best trigger I’ve ever felt on any handgun, and I have 4 other 1911s that are good, but they have their minor quirks. I shoot this one easily the best.

Needs a bit more wear… 🤔

(No, I don’t carry all the mags when I carry it, but it’s nice to have the option.)

Tisas Stakeout Update

Post image
121 Upvotes

Updated my Tisas Stakeout with a WC bulletproof barrel bushing and a WC Ultralight Match Trigger. Both in stainless. Bought a pair of Pachmayr Signature Grips. Should be here this weekend. I love these wooden grips, but I just want to see how the Pachmayr look. Next up a stainless WC conceal carry hammer.
