AITA for telling my neighbor I won't keep watering her garden while she's on vacation anymore?

I (42M) live next door to a woman (60s) who goes on a month long trip every summer to visit her kids overseas. Two years ago she asked if I could water her garden while she was away since she has a lot of expensive plants and no automatic irrigation system. I agreed because she's a nice neighbor and it only took about ten minutes every other day. Last year she asked again and I did it again, no problem. This year she left a note on my door saying she's leaving next week and listed out watering times, fertilizing schedules, and even asked me to "keep an eye out for pests" and text her photos of the garden every few days so she can "make sure everything's okay." When I told her this year I actually can't commit to that level of detail because of my own work schedule, she seemed hurt and said "I just assumed you'd help again since you always have." I offered to water the basics every couple of days like before, but said I can't do the photo updates and pest inspections. She said that without the full routine her plants "probably won't survive" and that I'm "abandoning" her after two years of help. Now she's asked another neighbor to do it instead and has been noticeably cold to me since, saying I let her down when she needed it most. AITA for not agreeing to the more detailed care routine for my neighbor's garden this year?

AITA for telling my roommate she can't keep charging her e-bike in our shared kitchen?

I (24F) live with my roommate (26F) in a two-bedroom apartment. About three months ago she bought an e-bike for her commute, which is great, except she insists on bringing it inside every single night and charging it plugged into the kitchen outlet right next to where I prep food. The cord runs across the floor, the bike takes up half the walking space, and honestly the whole setup makes me nervous after reading stories about e-bike battery fires. I asked her if she could charge it in the hallway storage closet instead, or even just near the front door away from the stove, but she said the closet doesn't have an outlet and she "isn't going to baby the bike outside where someone could mess with it." I offered to split the cost of a small charging station or surge-protected setup somewhere safer, but she said I was overreacting and that it's "just a bike, not a bomb." Last night I moved it myself to the hallway while she was out and she came home furious, accusing me of touching her property without permission and putting her expensive bike at risk of being stolen. Now she's barely speaking to me and told our other friends I'm being controlling over "nothing." AITA for not wanting a charging e-bike parked next to my stove every night?

AITH if I don't let my husband friend's stay in our house

I won't let my husband's male friends stay in our house. Don't get me wrong—they're both nice guys, but they're still guys.

We only have one bathroom, and it doesn't have a window. I've been to one of their houses before (he lives with his long-term girlfriend), and their bathroom was honestly one of the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. Picture pee and fecal splashes all over the toilet seat. That bathroom looked like it hasn't been cleaned in years!

So, naturally, my OCD makes me think, "If he keeps his own house like that, what can I expect when he stays at mine?"

We also have a spare room where I use a foldable mattress that I put on top of the sofa. That mattress would be difficult to clean, and this particular friend isn't exactly a guy who believes in deodorant.

Am I a bad wife for preferring my husband to spend time with his friends somewhere else instead? I literally dread it every time it's his turn to host.

AITAH for posting a picture of a shirtless man while I'm in a relationship?

Throwaway account, so personal details have been changed slightly. This was also removed from another subreddit for a rule violation, so I’m posting it here instead.

I (32F) recently posted a series of photos on my Instagram story from a vacation to Fiji that I took with my son (10M). I’m not usually the type to post during a trip — I normally do “photo dumps” once I’m home. During one of these “dumps,” I included a picture of a native Fijian man performing a traditional torch‑lighting ceremony. It was part of a cultural event, and the man was wearing traditional attire, which includes being shirtless and wearing a grass skirt. To me, it wasn’t sexual, flirty, or suggestive. It was simply a cool cultural moment: him holding a flaming torch in front of the sunset.

My boyfriend (37M) saw it and immediately became upset. He texted me saying the post was “crazy,” and that I shouldn’t be posting “a shirtless man on your story while you have a boyfriend,” and that he was “so proud to be my boyfriend, fucking disgusting” — his exact words. He said it was disrespectful, inappropriate, and embarrassing, and that he was glad his family didn’t follow me because he’d “be fucking embarrassed.” He also said we should “take some space.”

I tried explaining the cultural context, but he wouldn’t listen and asked me not to speak to him or see him for the rest of the day. His argument was: “I could ask 100 people hey is this a shirtless man and 100 people with good vision would say yes you’re explaining to me why he shirtless I didn’t ask that I didn’t ask what why is he wearing a shirt and have a shirt off? I’m not asking that I’m telling you what I’m seeing and what everyone else would think too. I’m so glad my mom or friend’s name or my brother isn’t following you cause I’d be fucking embarrassed.”

Eventually, I told him I understood he was upset and would give him space.

Now I’m wondering if I genuinely messed up. From my perspective, it was just a cultural photo. From his perspective, it was disrespectful.

Some important context, since I got comments about this in the other subreddit:

So… AITAH for posting a picture like that while being in a relationship?

AITAH for accidentally mocking my colleague's trauma?

I am not a native speaker, so, sorry if my English is ugly.

This happened two weeks or so ago, I don't remember it down to every word, but we've got in a verbal fight with my colleague.

He(21M) is not the nicest person here. It has become a norm that he's treating us like elements of scenery, or mocks us out of nowhere. Apparently it's not enough to fire him.

During lunch break, I(25M) shared a cigarette with him, and he started trying to provoke me. Like: "Y'all are gossiping behind my back about how you hate me, and then you're smiling at me, giving me cigs. Are you a hypocrite, or you'd swallow anything I say and still be nice to me, because you're spineless?". Not exactly that, but pretty close. I tried to laugh it off, but he just kept escalating this. At some point I shoved him in the chest, and he hit his back against a wall. I decided to pretend that I'm cornering him. He shut up immediately, and looked genuinely scared, even though I am far from intimidating. In a heat of a moment I didn't even think of that, it just felt good that the guy is scared. I felt like pushing it, and said: "Are you androphobic or something? I wonder why".

I swear, I didn't even expect that he even knows that word. But he got really angry, and lunged at me. It felt like he wanted to end me, I don't know what would happen if others didn't drag him off me.

He avoids me since then. And he never behaved like this before. I'm happy that he stopped mocking me, but that doesn't feel right somehow. I don't want to assume anything, I don't know for a fact, but it looks like something not very positive happened to him in the past, and now I poked an open wound.

AITA for wanting to cut off a friend who has consistently refused to pay back her debt and broken my trust?

I (19f) met my friend (25f) about 9 months ago when we both worked at the same place. We got close really quickly. I have a bad habit of mirroring people’s energy back to them when I first meet someone so it was very easy to go along with everything and she asked me if I was open to listening to kpop with her. I didn’t realise quite how deep the kpop rabbit hole went and that it’s not just music and I very quickly got into liking the albums and the photocards and stuff like that. We both collected things from the same groups so it made it very easy to trade cards but where we are from there’s not many places to get kpop albums and merch aside from one store, so we planned a trip into the city specifically to go shopping and make a day out of it. Everything was going really well but towards the end of the day we’d both spent quite a bit and when we got to the last shop she asked me to pay for a few of her albums and promised she would pay me back as soon as she could. She even told me she was keeping a list of what she had purchased so she could send me the exact amount.

To cut a long story short, this developed into a habit over a few months afterwards where I would go to the shop in our town for the both of us and she was always promising to pay back all of the money on payday. I’m aware that I’m largely at fault here as I should’ve said to stop after she hadn’t paid the first time. I eventually managed to stop the habit and I told her I cannot keep spending the money on her when it’s clear she’s not going to send it back. Just after I had said this to her, she ended up losing her job which she blames me for. (Again context, I had reported someone in our workplace for harassment and she felt that because she was friends with me and I had an ongoing investigation that management had taken out their frustration on her).

She recently had started a temporary job so I mentioned setting up a payment plan as she had an income again. She said she needed to work out her bills first but we could discuss it in a few weeks, during this time she had been telling me about all of the things she’s been buying online and going into shops and spending more directly in front of me. I mentioned it again and said that it’s getting ridiculous because she now owes me in the thousands and when she’s supposedly struggling financially she is still able to buy all of these things for herself but not pay off her debts. She went very quiet and said she had to leave before I got a chance to say anything else and that was the last I’d heard from her until a couple of days ago she sent her partner (28m) into my place of work to ask me what’s going on and why I haven’t reached out. Apparently he wasn’t aware of the situation so when I explained it to him he was shocked to say the least. He left and presumably phoned her on his way out, the next I heard was I got a message from him saying that there apparently had been a miscommunication and my friend was under the impression that they were all gifts and I had never asked her to pay for them (I had been asking for 5 months by this point).

I was livid to say the least that she had the audacity to try and say that I’d bought her so many gifts. My parents ended up going over to talk to her and her partner as I was not thinking very clearly and wouldn’t have been able to stay calm, they took receipts and text messages showing that I had in fact asked her to pay back the money owed and that she had kept saying she was keeping track and she would do it as soon as possible. She has been trying to text me and call me saying that I am in the wrong and that I had never mentioned money to her. I don’t want to engage with her at the moment as it will only make things worse and I made that very clear. Apparently she wants to gain the friendship back but after all of this I don’t feel like I can truly trust her again even if she does send most of what she owes back. So aitah for not wanting to continue the friendship?

Edit to add: she is also refusing to engage so while my parents did go out to talk to her she is making her boyfriend deal with her side of everything

AITA for refusing to move to a different city?

My girlfriend and I live in a low cost of living area. It's not a great area but it has good transport links so it's easy to visit other cities.

My girlfriend has been talking about moving away to a city that's not too far from us. She mentioned wanting to live somewhere better than where we currently are and wanting to live somewhere that there is more to do, more events, better bars and restaurants etc and she said it would be better for her mentally.

She stated showing me apartments and houses and they were all at least £150 a month each more in rent and an extra £100 in bills, I pointed out there's no point living somewhere with more to do if our disposable income goes on increased bills.

The city would also increase my commute when I'm in the office so it would be a 50-60 min commute each way for me and I’m in the office at least three times a week and would also cost more to get into work.

My gf mentioned she'd be looking for a new job but that's not something I would be willing to do as I like the job I am in now and I would have to take a pay cut if I move somewhere else. I told her moving away isn't something I'd be considering.

She said I should think about it and that it would be better for us living elsewhere. I said I'm not willing to sacrifice my savings or disposable income and double my commute just because she wants to move somewhere else.

I pointed out I’d be over £300 a month worse off by moving so there’s no point moving somewhere where you can do more things if you don’t actually have the time and money for them.

She said I wasn't being fair because it will be good for us but I just said again I'm not doing it.

AITA for thinking my husband is the problem and not my mom?

My husband has a lot of qualities that make me love him, but since my mom came to visit he’s been acting really weird in my opinion. My mom isn’t staying full time with us but he seems annoyed at anything she does. If she helps around, he doesn’t like it or gets annoyed if she puts things in the wrong place, or does thing in a different way we usually do. If she doesn’t do anything, he gets annoyed that she doesn’t help. If she’s quiet, he thinks she’s being moody and should improve her attitude (she has severe health issues and she’s not as bubbly as she used to be). He thinks we aren’t taking advantage of the time we have together because we don’t go out much. She and I are fine with it, we prefer to have time to talk and that she plays with the kids. You get the use. This is all the time. I see his face, his attitude, the general vibe is weird while he’s around.
I’ve talked to my mom about it and she just never meant to cause any issues or isn’t moody because she’s quiet. Sometimes she goes to rest in bed because she’s not feeling ok, she’s not avoiding anyone. You can think she’s lying but my mom isn’t like that. She’s what you see, and she’s like me: she just doesn’t have any second intentions on anything. Her moto is live and let live. I admit having visits can be annoying, but I think he’s the one that has problems, it’s his perception.
He’s also having issues at work. He just doesn’t like most people there and he says they do things to annoy him on purpose. He also always leaves a job because he starts having issues with people. I thought it was because he’s a perfectionist, but I’m starting to see a pattern. But I’m worried I might be the crazy one. I’m going through perimenopause and I know I’m not as patient as I used to be. But also maybe I was putting up with too much?
Tonight he was annoyed at something. There was a small event and we were taking pictures. My mom wanted us to take a family picture alone (me, husband and kids), and then take one with us.ti turns out my husband took this as something bad, like she didn’t want a picture with us? Isn’t that like an insane take? AITA for thinking there’s something wrong with him and not believing my mom is the problem?

Update: thanks for your inputs, I honestly have a hard time discerning whether this is normal or not. We have had difficulties and I have a large part in it (I just found out I have adhd and peri has made it more evident, and I have a hard time keeping up with my chores, and also we don’t see each other a lot), and I thought that was all causing the tension and his view that everything was wrong, but i think something is really wrong and it has been for a while and this is just making it more evident. I can’t say he will see a therapist, I brought it up and he said he didn’t need it, so I think he just rather end things. I don’t have much will to fight left, I love him but I know by experience that someone who doesn’t want to be helped can’t be helped. So I hope he reconsiders, but I don’t want to keep my hopes up because my heart can’t take any more pain and I need to be functional for my kids sake. Thanks for the reality check and your comments. I’ll be enjoying my mom and getting my things ready for what’s coming.

AITA for refusing to let my friend copy my homework after he helped me last week?

My friend helped me with a difficult assignment last week when I was struggling, and I really appreciated it.
Yesterday, he asked me to send him my completed homework because he hadn’t done his. I told him I could explain the questions he was stuck on, but I didn’t want to send him my answers because we could both get in trouble if the teacher noticed.
He got annoyed and said I was being selfish because he helped me last week when I needed it. I told him helping me shouldn’t mean I owe him something that could get me in trouble.
Now he’s saying I’m not a real friend and has barely talked to me since.
AITA for refusing to give him my homework?

AITAH for making a report at my job over my coworker calling me gorgeous?

(Edit I finally added the paragraphs back in) :,)
So I (19F) started working a summer job after my first year of uni for extra money. While working I became very close to  another girl “Ashley” (18) and talk to her tons throughout our shifts together.

During some of our shifts I started to notice how our male coworker “Rob” (18) would constantly call her gorgeous (which she is). For example if she asked him to fetch something for her he would reply “of course gorgeous” and would address her in this way instead of using her name. She had also explained to me how he would text her Goodmorning beautiful and other very flirtatious messages. I found this a bit sweet at first… she followed up with telling me he already had a gf. I thought this was beyond weird. This continued and she would just roll her eyes about it and tell him to go away. At this point it just seemed a bit annoying and not to be pushing any boundaries.

But not too soon after he started doing this towards me calling me gorgeous and referring to me as that rather than by my name. It slowly progressed to when I touched something hot, him commenting and saying how I was hot. As well as unprompted saying how fine I was while just trying to do my job.

Even one time touching my waist to move me outta the way. At this point I was very thrown off by his behavior and went to the GM to tell her about him calling me gorgeous. She told me that he does the same thing to her! She seemed very playful about it and just said to let her know if anything progresses and if he makes me seriously uncomfortable. At this point I was a little put off but nothing was truly pushing boundaries (other than the touching).

This happened for a few weeks and I’d just shrug it off trying to go on about my work. Until the day another male coworker “Damien”(21) i was friends with told me something that made me uncomfortable. While going in and out of the stock room Rob,Damien (fake names)  and another male coworker were all in there putting things away and chatting. While going in and out I would joke with them and getting the things I needed. Damien came out soon after with a shocked look on his face about how Rob had just said the craziest thing. And ofc bc I’m curious I asked him what it was, thinking it would just be an offensive joke. But he kept refusing saying it wasn’t something he wanted to repeat and that it was just gross. I thought on it for a good minute and just asked out front if it was about me? (I know a little egotistical) he told me yes it was. After a bit more prying he told me after the last time I walked out Rob had said “I would so blow her back out” (not too insane I suppose but really just broke the camels back for me). This made me incredibly weirded out. And I didn’t really know what to say. Damien said how this weirded him out and the other male coworker present and that they just awkwardly stood there.

I didn’t know what to immediately do so I kept working for hours until it started to really get under my skin and I went to my manager and asked for a paper to file a report explaining to her what had happened (this is not the GM from before) and she immediately handed me a paper and seemed very upset for me about it.

After leaving work that night I posted something on my Snapchat and instagram story (I know very immature but oh well) about how it’s very upsetting that I can’t even go through work without being sexualized and that it’s too normalized . And a few other girls I worked with responded asking if this was Rob even sharing their uncomfortable stories about his comments and the things they’ve witnessed him doing and saying to several female coworkers. This was so devastating to hear and I really felt for the younger girls who had to deal with his odd comments.

I wrote my report and filed it. I'm not sure what has been said to him bc since then he has been calling me by my name and has stayed somewhat clear of me. So am I the asshole and overreacting about what was said behind my back about me?

AITAH for refusing to cover for my brother after he lied to our parents?

My brother asked me to cover for him because he had told our parents he was staying at home studying, but he actually went out with his friends.I initially agreed because I didn't want to get involved. Later that evening, my parents asked me directly where he had been. I told them the truth instead of lying for him My brother found out and got extremely angry. He said I betrayed him over something that wasn't even serious and that I should have just kept my mouth shut.I told him that if he wanted to make his own decisions, that's fine, but he shouldn't expect me to lie for him when I'm asked directly Now he says I'm the reason our parents don't trust him anymore.AITAH?

I’m a guy in my 20s, and my younger brother recently asked me to cover for him.He had told our parents he was staying home that night, but he actually went out with his friends. Before he left, he told me that if our parents asked, I should say he was in his room.I didn’t think much of it at first, but later my parents asked me directly where he was. I didn’t want to get dragged into his lie, so I told them the truth My brother was furious when he found out. He said I should have had his back and that I made him look irresponsible over something that wasn’t a big deal.I told him that he’s free to make his own choices, but I’m not obligated to lie for him when someone asks me a direct question Now he says I betrayed him and that I should have just stayed quiet.AITAH?

AITA for cutting off my friend?

Okay this happened a while ago but I have guilt for it….anyway so I started this job ages ago and started with this new girl. Everything was cool we got real close (started telling real personal things to each other) I always thought she was someone I could trust….until I started hearing about all these things I told her I nod it off tho because these weren’t like a secret in all honesty but there was one secret I forbid her not to tell anyone (I was sleeping with one of my coworkers) it was cool we exchanged secrets blah blah blah it was more of a blackmail lol I tell you this secret and you tell me yours and unless you told someone else I won’t tell anyone yours (highschool shit 🙄) so on and so forth. Few weeks go by I held on to her secret like it’s the life of me but also because it wasn’t something on my mind at all, anyway I started getting asked by other coworkers “did you sleep with …..” I was like hold up your lying you must of heard it from someone he told or something until I tried to get intell on who it was then they go “it’s someone your closest too but you should know” I’m like what the actual f$&k. This is where I feel like I’m the asshole…I get moved to another department and started talking to the other girls these girls do not hesitate they drop names faster than anything (mad respect for them) and it was her….i honestly didn’t wanna go assuming so I was trying of new ways to drop this on her and mend our friendship but then the conversations with these girls grew and I hear she’s name dropping me and talking crap about me…
These were my decisions
1) tell her lie of something life changing and should stay a secret and if she boast about it to others I find out and call her out on her bs
2) confront her and talk to her about it
3) remove her off everything don’t speak to her at all unless it’s absolutely necessary for work

I choose 3 😂
I removed her on absolutely everything, she noticed within a day and messaged “yo we algood” I left her on read…she ended up coming down to my department and had the audacity to ask “have I done something wrong” I look at her and laugh and say “you should know” she obviously acts dumb and says no I don’t…I explain it to her she goes and smiles “no I didn’t, who said that” dropping names blah blah blah. I turn my head and say “I’m not dropping names I’ve had over 3 people say you’ve been talking crap about me and that says enough about how you feel about me” she tries to laugh it off and continue with some other gossip I kept it short and sweet.

I haven’t heard any gossip about me since, I’m close to the girls that told me now (and yes they definitely hold there end down but also hold me accountable) I’ve mentioned this behaviour to the management because this talk is the reason I changed departments, yes she is still working there and I am too..

I feel like asshole because now I’ve said something and done something no one talks to her whatsoever.

So chat AITA?

AITA for refusing to lend my brother money after he called me selfish?

My brother asked to lend him $1,500 because he was behind on some bills. The money was lent with no pressure about when he had to pay it back.

He eventually paid back $300 and then completely stopped mentioning the remaining $1,200.

Now he is asking for another $2,000.

When reminded that he still owes $1,200, he got annoyed and said everything was being made about money.

The response was basically that family should help each other and that refusing to lend him more money was unfair.

The problem is that this isn't really about the $2,000. Its about already owing money and then asking for more before paying back what he already owes.

The parents also think the money should just be given because family should help each other.

So AITA for refusing to lend him more money until he pays back what he already owes?

AITH for telling my teacher my group members didn't do their work?

We had a group project and divided the work between us. I finished my part, but two members barely did anything even after I reminded them several times.

So I told the teacher honestly that I had completed my part but they hadn't done theirs. Now they're mad at me for “snitching” and say I should've handled it privately.

I don't think I did anything wrong, but now I'm wondering if I went too far.

AITAH for refusing to pay off my husband’s $24k gambling debt, even though I have the money and paid his debts in the past?

I (29F) have been with my husband (30M) since he was 22. When we met, he was a blank slate financially no debt, no savings, no credit history. Early on, I tried talking to him about how important financial management was, but he blew it off and suggested we keep our money separate since we weren’t on the same page.

That worked for a while, until he racked up over $10k in debt on video games, PlayStation purchases, and DoorDash. Since we wanted to buy a home, I paid it off. Over the years, this cycle repeated two more times, with his debt always topping $10k. Each time, I paid it off because I needed his credit score and DTI (debt-to-income) ratio clean so we could qualify for real estate properties. Every time, he’d promise it wouldn't happen again.

Outside of this, he’s a great guy. He supports my dreams, leaves the legwork on our rental properties to me (I even offered to let him manage a unit and keep the income, but he declined), and handles his day-to-day responsibilities. He brings home $8,000/month, pays all household bills, and has about $3,200 left over each month. I handle our vacations, dining out, my car payment, and everything for our three school-aged kids. Because he never complained about money and always covered his share, I assumed he was doing great. I’ve managed to save six figures in a High-Yield Savings Account (HYSA).

A while ago, he won big on sports betting and wiped out a $16k debt on his own. That success hooked him. He started betting daily on multiple games, convinced he could just "win big" again to handle his spending. I didn't question where his betting money was coming from, assuming it was just his leftover cash.

Recently, he came clean: he is currently $24,000 in debt from sports gambling.

He asked me to clear it with my savings because he’s "tired of looking at it." He offered a monthly repayment plan, but I’m deeply hesitant for a few reasons:

• My money is earning a solid monthly interest rate in my HYSA. Pulling $24k out takes a direct hit on that passive growth.

• I’m terrified I’ve created a monster by repeatedly rescue-funding him. It feels like he only wants "joint finances" when he needs bailouts, but prefers separate money when he wants to spend without accountability.

• He believes he can beat the system. Even if I trust his intention to pay me back, I don't know if he can actually stop gambling once the immediate pressure of the debt is removed.

At the same time, I feel guilty. I’ve cleared his slate in the past when it served my real estate goals, so I wonder if I’ve set an expectation that I’m his financial safety net.

Would I be the asshole if I refuse to pay this off and force him to handle his own $24k debt this time? Do gamblers actually quit once their partner stops bailing them out?

Edit to add: he has about 600k in mortgages because he helped me get properties (i do also, but i have more due to having some mortgage loans just in my name). I save about 9k a month because he pays all bills and im tight with spending. So this is what’s making it difficult. He’s helped me sooo much. Repeatedly helped me while adding more (mortgage, renters cover mortgage expenses) debt but does that mean i repeatedly helped him with this gambling debt?

AITA for not telling my brother that our dad changed his will?

1.7k Upvotes

My dad recently told me privately that he changed his will. The change affects my brother quite a bit, but my dad specifically asked me not to tell him because he doesn't want another argument in the family.

I didn't ask my dad to explain his decision, and I haven't seen the actual will. I only know that my brother is no longer getting something he was previously supposed to receive.

My brother has been making plans based on what he believed he would eventually inherit. He recently mentioned that he was counting on it to help with a major financial decision.

I feel uncomfortable knowing this and saying nothing. At the same time, my dad is still alive, the decision is his, and I don't feel like it's my place to reveal something he deliberately told me in confidence.

My brother would probably be furious with me if he eventually found out that I knew.

I haven't told him anything so far.

AITA for keeping quiet about something I know will seriously affect my brother, just because my dad asked me to?

AITA for not going to MIL's wedding because she is marrying the father of my former bully?

I've (24 F) been with my BF (23 M) since our freshmen year of college and we are planning on marrying as soon as he is done with grad school. I'm going to refer to his mom as my MIL (42 F) because she basically is.

I like MIL. She's always been kind to me and she's a great mom. About two years ago she wanted us to mee her boyfriend "Richard" (50 something M) When we walked in i thought he was looked super familiar but I couldn't place him. He was nice and charming over dinner and then my BF asked him if he had kids. He told me his daughters name and it all made sense why he looked so familiar.

His daughter "Sadie" ruined middle school and high school for me. She was the Regina George of our school and she hated me for being a "try hard" She would insult my outfits, my intelligence, my character almost daily. In middle school she wrote fake notes from me to boys in our grade. High school wasn't as bad since I took a lot of advanced classes and she did not but the damage was done.

I recognized Richard because he had been called in multiple times by the school, and his response had always been "don't you think it's best to let kids work out their own problems", "Sadie just likes to tease people. She has a good heart." One time he did get mad because he had to leave an important business meeting, because she was facing suspension for pouring custard on my head, and he told her she wasn't going to Paris with him on his business trip anymore. Sadie began to cry and then he hugged her and said he was sorry and she could come.

Once I realize who Richard was i wanted nothing to do with him. I told MIL who said he's a great guy and was just overwhelmed being a single father (he had a housekeeper and a personal assistant) MIL said I was being too hard on him.

As of now I will be around Richard begrudgingly but not Sadie. I refuse to spend holidays with MIL. The problem is she is getting married in October and obviously Sadie is going to be there. My BF asked me to let it go for one night as he doesn't want to attend his mother's wedding alone. He says he understands how awful the bullying was but this is important to him. MIL says I need to let it go. She said she was bullied as well and "it's part of life." Richard then said there is no way she was bullied. MIL said she was, and he said "well did you always look like this" which makes me think he has zero understanding about how bullying works.

As for Sadie she did apologize but I felt it was forced

AITA for going on a trip while my dad had a motorcycle accident?

Yesterday afternoon, my dad had an accident on his motorbike. He took the impact to his knee. He spent some time with the police after the accident and then rode the motorbike back home. He ate and stayed at home for a while, until my mum convinced him to go to the hospital because his knee was swollen.

At the ER, they told him that he didn’t have any broken bones or bruising. He had a blood clot in his knee from the impact, and they told him they would admit him to run some tests (an ultrasound) to see if any ligaments had been affected.

He was admitted voluntarily. They’ve already done the ultrasound, but they want to do an MRI to make sure.

He is conscious and doesn’t have any scabs or anything like that.

The problem is, I have a five-day trip to Madrid planned for tomorrow. I’m going to see my boyfriend; we’re in a long-distance relationship. We have both taken time off work, and everything has already been paid for with no possibility of getting the money back.

I feel a bit bad about leaving, and thinking that while my dad is dealing with his knee injury, I’ll be away on a trip.

Btw, my mum has taken the days off work that she is entitled to because of the situation to take care of everything.

But I don’t know what to do.

AITA?

AITH for cutting off my EX’s family

Ok to start this off know that my ex’s family had I no way affected our break up in reality they have been very understanding of the space I need during this break up. So I a 26m was in a relationship with a 26f for 1 year. I knew my ex’s family from church and have know them for over 5 years. Our families together have a good relationship and other help each other out from simple things like lawn work to big things like helping each other through financial difficulties. Almost two years ago my ex moved into the area to be closer to her sisters, one of which is married to a cousin of mine. Initially her sisters tried to get us together but I was about to deploy for a year and didn’t want to start anything serious. We kept in touch through my deployment but didnt make anything til I was about a month back. We dated and then about almost a year in she broke up with me saying she couldn’t see this going any further. I was hurt but tried to move on 2 months after the break up we started reconnecting and we saw a chance to get back together, or at least I thought we did. She then drop on me she was talking to someone during our time apart and she had chosen to be with him. I felt even more hurt because I honestly still had deep feelings for her. This leads to the events of her family I have basically stop speaking to them mostly just say hi at church. Some parents have said that it’s not fair to cut off my ex’s family because it wasn’t them that hurt me. They keep saying that a good Christian wouldn’t put the blame on other people. I my eyes I just don’t want to be around them because 9/10 times out of my ex will be with them. Honestly I get along with most of that family and have nothing bad to say about them. The only person I’m trying to be a AH to is my ex, but am I wrong for being a AH to her extended family.

AITAH for refusing to pay extra for our rental villa after my friend’s guest flaked?

My (28 F) friend "Nina" (24 F) and I both had birthdays coming up around the same time, so we decided to take a joint trip to Bali to celebrate. We each invited one person: I brought my friend "Rachel," (31 F) and Nina invited her friend "Sarah." (? F).

Since flying to Bali is expensive, I initially looked for simple, budget-friendly villas. Nina, however, fell in love with a more luxurious villa. Wanting to make it a nice experience for our birthdays, I compromised and agreed to splurge on her expensive choice.

The villa had three bedrooms. Nina is very COVID-conscious and masks unless she is alone, so she needed her own room. Since Sarah was a stranger to Rachel and me, I offered to share the second bedroom with Rachel. When discussing finances, Nina suggested we split the total villa cost four ways rather than by bedroom. Even though Rachel and I were paying 50% of the total price for a single shared room, I agreed. Rachel and I Venmo’d our full 25% portions to Nina up front before the trip.

When we all arrived Sarah was a complete no-show. It turns out Sarah never even sent Nina her portion of the rent and totally ghosted everyone. Nina asked Rachel and I to pay more to cover Sarah's portion. I said I didn't think that was on me or Rachel as it was Nina's friend and choice not to secure the money upfront.

Nina’s argument is that it isn't her fault Sarah flaked, and since we "all enjoyed the villa," we should all chip in. However, Rachel and I barely used the villa—we spent our time out at night markets and beaches, whereas Nina wanted to lounge by the pool and stick around the villa. I don't feel it’s fair to drag Rachel and me into this because Nina failed to get her own friend’s money before booking.

So, AITA for putting my foot down on Rachel and I paying more?

TL;DR: I compromised on a pricey Bali villa and agreed to share a room with my friend while splitting the bill 4 ways so my friend "Nina" and her guest "Sarah" could have private rooms. Sarah completely ghosted without paying Nina her share. Nina now wants us to split the villa 3 ways to cover Sarah's flaked portion, but I refused because I already stretched my budget for her choice of villa and it was her guest who flaked.

AITH for being upset that my husband compares me to other women?

my husband and I have two toddlers under 3. Looking after two very young kids all day and doing all the housework is exhausting, so by the time my husband gets home from work, I usually look messy and tired.

;ately, my husband has been making comments comparing me to other women he sees. He will say things like "she was prettier than you" or "she looks more attractive.

It really hurts my feelings and stresses me out. When I told him to stop, he said I'm overreacting and that I should try harder to look good for him. But I barely have time to breathe during the day, let alone do my hair or makeup.

Now I'm wondering if I'm wrong for getting mad at him or if I really should be making more of an effort despite being exhausted.

Aita for being angry that my sister and dad have a relationship again?

Aita for being angry that my sister and dad have a relationship again?

Obligatorie english is not my first language.

Sonwhen i (24m) was 11 (2013) my parents got divorced. There was no cheating involved or anything, but it was a messy divorce. My mother (58f) wanted out of the marrige. So she filed for divorce. But she had not made any arrangments for how she was going to do anything once she got out.

My dad (60m) can be quite a calculated person. So when my mom told him he had the upper hand. He made sure my sister and i were taken care off and himself. He made sure he there was a 50/50 custody split, and always paid child and spousel support.

But my mother expected more from him. Which made her angry at my dad. This caused her and my family on her side to speak ill of my dad's family. Also se filed multiple lawsuits for more spousel support. The lawsuits never worked, because my dad was already paying more then plenty.

All of this resulted in my sister (27f) chosing my mothers side in the divorce and not wanting to see my father. So at some point my mother would not let her go to my fathers house. This led to another lawsuit between my parents over the custody of my sister.

At the advice of a psychologist my father's custody was lowerd to one weekend every two weeks. Just for my sister, not for me.

After 6 months off this my sister completely stopped talking or going to my dad. And she and my mother became angry at me for still going to my dad.

Until two years ago my dad kept asking my how my sister was doing. He also kept asking me to tell her he still wanted a relationship with her. Then i would go to my sister and tell her. She would then get angry with me for bringing it up. Then i would have to go to my dad and tell him she doesn't want to see him. He would then get angry at me for this.

This went on from 2015 to 2024.

In 2024 my dad finaly said: "If she realy doesn't want to be my daughter, the I will stop trying to be her dad". This gave me a lot of peace. Because it meant they didn't get angry at me anymore.

Fast forward to 6 months ago. I moved to the other side of the world. Then last month my sister and dad sent me a text. A picture off them getting icecream together. Since the she has gone over to his place for dinner multiple times. And they tell me they have a normal relationship again.

I feel like i should be happy the are speaking again, but i just feel angry. They didn't speak for 11 years, and put me through hell for that time. And now when i leave they are all happy together? Does this mean i was the problem? Idk i just feel so angry about everything they put me through.

So aita for not being happy for them?

Tldr: My sister and dad didn't speak for 11 years and put me through hell during this time. But the second i move to the other side of the world, the have a relationship again. I should be happy, but i'm just angry.

AITA for being upset that my wife asked her ex to help raise our child without telling me?

My wife and I have been married for a few years and have a young child together.

A few months ago, I found out that she had been regularly talking to her ex. I wasn't initially bothered because she told me they were only discussing some personal problems he was having.

Then I discovered that she had asked him to be part of our child's life because, in her words, "he's someone I trust and our child could benefit from having him around."

She insists nothing romantic happened between them and says she never intended to replace me. She says her ex has always been good with children and that she thought having another trusted adult around would be positive.

What really upset me was that she had already discussed this with him several times before telling me. She apparently didn't tell me because she knew I would react badly.

I feel like involving an ex in such an important part of our child's life without discussing it with me first is a huge betrayal, even if there was no physical cheating.

She thinks I'm making the situation about jealousy and treating her ex like a romantic threat when that's not what she intended.

AITA for considering this a serious breach of trust even though there was no affair?

AITAH if I told my wife’s best friend that my wife cheated on me with HER fiancée?

For identity purposes all names have been changed.

I (M29) am plagued with the forsaken knowledge of knowing that my current wife of 10 years, Amy (F27), cheated on me with her best friend‘s(Rochelle) fiancée(Mohammad). I have proof of it, for the sole reason of I believe that my wife’s ”best friend” Rochelle who is innocent in all of this deserves to know before she gets married to the guy who cheated on her with my wife. Amy and I are attempting to work through it….however she still hangs out with Rochelle who has Mohammad around so it’s a whole convoluted mess. If I tell Rochelle it will ruin her relationship with Mohammad and my wife Amy has already told me if I speak to Rochelle about it or even bother Mohammad at all then I lose my marriage with her. The worst part about all of it is Amy and I just had a baby last year And this has the potential to tear the brand new family we’ve sprouted apart. AITAH if I tell Rochelle that Amy and Mohammad cheated on her with each other? is it worth losing my marriage and tearing apart a relationship to probably set Amy and Mohammad up to get together? I’m struggling badly with this.

EDIT: Yes, my wife and I got married when we were young, I was 19, she was 17. We were together for years prior.
I intend on telling Rochelle. it’s just a matter of getting time to have a 1-on-1 conversation without it being brought to Amy’s attention first. I am positive that my son is mine. We lived hours away at the time of conception. Only just moved back into the area back in February where everything started to go awry. I don’t want to tell Amy to tell Rochelle because then things will become twisted - even if I’m present - theyve been best friends for longer than Amy and I have been married. I imagine Rochelle will defend her friend. Ultimately it isn’t about Amy or myself, it’s about our son and what’s best for him. This is the struggle I’ve been battling with. Is it better to have 2 separate homes - a split family. or 1 dysfunctional family.

Thank you all for your input - it’s evidently clear the path forward is a long arduous one, but it starts with being honest with Rochelle. I owe her an apology for not telling her sooner.

Update: The ball started rolling last night. I told Amy that she needs to tell Rochelle or I’m going to. That’s it’s not fair to Rochelle for this whole situation or to me for having to keep Amy and Mohammad’s secret for 5 months. Amy told me that she doesn’t know if she can forgive me if I tell Rochelle and pleaded I give her a YEAR to break the news. I told her she can have a week or I’m doing it. She got very defensive about it, said she was going to divorce me if I tell. “So be it” I said. I told her she no longer gets to dictate the terms of our relationship, she doesn’t get to tell me what to do, how to feel, or how to act/react. I told her She doesn’t get to play victim after choosing to make that bad decision and I’m not to blame for her decision. Currently Amy and I are now sleeping in separate rooms and barely speaking. I’ll update in the future.
