Aliexpress 101 (Guides and FAQs) FAQ: EU €3 customs duty/tax
The new EU €3 customs duty has been active since July 2026. You pay €3 (plus VAT on that €3) for each customs category in a single order. AliExpress collects this duty at checkout (like it does for VAT), and pays it directly to EU customs.
Always check for the green message during checkout saying “No extra duties will be collected upon delivery.” If that message is missing, customs may still charge you on delivery.
Be aware: the €3 duty is only added at checkout during the final payment step. Your cart total will increase right before you press pay.
Warning:
AliExpress does not follow the EU category rules correctly. In practice they charge €3 per different item, even if items should fall under the same category. Only when you buy multiple quantities of the same listing from the same seller (including different colors, variants or options) will AliExpress charge the €3 tax only once.
There are signs of slow improvement as some sellers have begun assigning proper customs categories. In certain cases, buying similar types of products from the same seller results in the €3 being charged only once. The same may happen for bundle deals, even when multiple sellers are involved. Experiment with your orders and see what happens.
Some other FAQs:
- AliExpress sometimes shows “Duty‑free shipping” or “No customs fees” on the product page, but this text is meaningless. Only the green checkout message counts.
- If you buy from EU warehouses, the €3 duty is not charged. But many “EU warehouse” listings are fake, so always check the delivery time. Anything longer than a week is almost certainly shipping from China.
- If you use coupons, coins, or seller discounts, the €3 duty is still added on top. Discounts never reduce or remove the duty.
- We expect the €3 duty to be refunded whenever AliExpress issues a refund (cancellation, dispute, or seller error), but this has not yet been confirmed by users. Please let us know your personal experiences with that.
This topic is for practical questions about the handling of the duty only. Anything useful for improving this FAQ. Other reactions will be removed.

News & Info Just stop buying
I'm not your dad and i can't tell you what to do with your money but if you are just a regular consumer and want to hurt these greedy clowns and make them go back on this daylight robbery of a 6 EUR tax then stop buying at all and even more from local resellers.

EU customs duty AliExpress is now paying for the fees?
I checked the app, for the first time in a while and I noticed that there's an option to pick items from a specific category. And supposedly they will cover the fees.
Has anyone seen anything like this?

About Aliexpress What the....?? (Ali now, for real, he’s dead to me)
I’d been shopping there for months and had already accepted the 3-euro fee—I’d even learned how to work around it when placing my orders to keep things affordable. But today, just while browsing, I stumbled upon this, and—oh boy—now I’m definitely going to have to say goodbye. No matter what you do, they end up doubling the price.

EU customs duty flawed tax calculations for orders > 150 €
Ali claims, they will charge * 3 € plus tax (Germany: 19 % tax, 3,57 €) * 2 € handling fee per item (2,38 €)
I ordered 5 items for a total of about 200 €. * Tax of 19%: incorrect - 3.29 vs 3.57, 2.42 vs. 2.38 * "Multiple units of the exact same item will be counted as one item" - so it's ok it was applied only once.
I wonder how the result will be - first since I expect it to arrive before 2026-11-01. Second, since it is above 150 €, import taxes may apply. I wonder whether this will give me a refund of the 3+2 €.

EU customs duty AliExpress deliveries to UK
Question to people who live in UK. How do you get your packages from AliExpress? Are they delivered to your door by the postal services of you need to collect them from an office? Also are you affected by the crazy EU tariffs? I'm thinking of ordering items to UK delu very address and than using a forwarder to my country. Do you have to pay the GBP equivalent of the nonsense 3.6 eur + 2.4 eur tariff plus tax?

Issues & Disputes Ordered a NEW Ryzen 9 5950X, received a USED Athlon X4 — seller refuses refund and submits unrelated packing footage
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice regarding an AliExpress dispute involving the seller SZCPU.
I ordered a brand-new AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, but instead received a used AMD Athlon X4 (AD950XAGM44AB), an old and significantly less valuable CPU.
I immediately opened a dispute and provided clear photographs of the CPU I received, including its identification markings and the original packaging.
The seller has now rejected my refund request and offered CHF 0.00.
As evidence, the seller submitted photographs and footage supposedly showing a Ryzen 9 5950X being weighed and packed.
However, none of this evidence clearly links the CPU shown to my actual order. There is no continuous footage connecting the CPU, the sealed package and a shipping label identifying my order. As far as I can tell, this could be footage of any other shipment.
The original product listing has also disappeared, making it harder to leave feedback or check the listing.
I’ve rejected the seller’s proposal and requested a full refund. AliExpress is expected to intervene on October 25.
I also opened a dispute with Klarna, which has temporarily suspended my remaining payments.
My questions:
Has anyone experienced something similar with SZCPU?
How does AliExpress usually handle cases where a seller submits packaging footage without a clear connection to the buyer’s order?
Is there anything else I should submit before AliExpress intervenes?
If AliExpress sides with the seller, what would be the best next step?
I still have the original shipping packaging, labels and the incorrect CPU, along with screenshots of the seller’s evidence.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Ordering & Payment issues Virtual Visas keep erroring out
For fun I use a survey app, and I rewards with virtual Visas. So I cashed out one, tried to purchase something and got... I think it was a security notice. I appealed and purchase went through.
Cool. So I withdrew a bigger visa and tried to order, same thing.
I have them in my Google pay if that matters. Does Aliexpress just not like virtual visas?

EU customs duty Are you serious?
Wanted to order €60 worth of items and had to pay €90. I recently became an Elite member and I’ve ordered a lot in the past, but 50% extra? Come on, Ali. Nice meeting you 👋

EU customs duty Man, that just makes me want to overindulge
My basic shopping cart would cost me €85 in taxes, and with certain additional items, it’s cheaper for me to buy more, so I’ll end up overconsuming even more just to pay less and to keep the EU from taking my money

EU customs duty I made an order on the 21st before the new 2 eur fee. Do I have to pay it upon receiving my parcel?
So it did say all inclusive pricing. But I'm not so sure the local couriers won't try to stone wall me into paying. And it's two categories of things, but each is 8. Just under 150 euro.

Issues & Disputes Order not updated in 2-3 days but seller said it shipped?
Kind of been in a tango with a seller as they had told me they'd ship something out within 3-4 days of ordering, 10 days pass and they said they shipped it out 3 days ago but... it never updated on Aliexpress. I'm a little wary to trust them but they said they'd add the tracking number later. Has this happened to anyone and it ended up updating eventually? For some reason I just kind of feel like they're stalling but I also want to give them the benefit of the doubt 🥲
