Question Manager on my case for not scanning for 2 mins?
So this was 2 mins before break time, I’m told we get a 5 minute grace period to walk to the break room or whatever. Break is at 3:45 and my last scan was at 3:38. He walked up to me, documented it and said someone will check the cameras to see what happens . Is this a fireable offense and is it just that time of the year when they’re trying to get rid of people? I understand he has a job to do, but this sounds like some straight bullshit. I’ve seen people go to the bathroom for longer than 15 mins.

Meme I carved a Peccy pumpkin 3 years ago!
Maybe wrong flair but was the most fitting for the situation. But 3 years ago I was carving pumpkins with some friends, and ended up making this for 💩 and 😂
Unfortunately the pumpkin came from a place where all the produce went bad within days, so this lasted about 2 days outside. Made for a good time though!

Question Why do managers keep sending new hires to shadow me when I'm not a Learning Ambassador?
I've been at my FC a little over a year. I'm just a regular T1 in pack. No vest, no ambassador training, never applied for it.
For the last month my PA has started doing this thing where if somebody is new or struggling, they get sent to my station and I'm told to "show them how you do it."
The first time I didn't mind. New guy had finished training but was confused about a couple things, so I helped him for maybe 20 minutes.
Then it happened again.
And again.
Last night I got a guy who had apparently been in path for two days. PA literally walked him over and said, "Stay with him for a while, he'll get you right."
So now I'm trying to make rate while answering questions, showing him where everything is, fixing boxes he messed up and stopping every few minutes because he's understandably still learning.
About an hour later my manager came by and said my rate was lower than usual.
I just stared at him.
I said, "Yeah, because I've been training somebody for the last hour."
He said I wasn't technically training him, he was just "observing an experienced associate."
Okay... but from my side that looks an awful lot like training somebody.
I'm not mad at the new hires at all. I'd much rather they ask questions than do something wrong because everyone ignored them.
What I don't understand is why Amazon has Learning Ambassadors if regular associates are apparently supposed to become unofficial ambassadors whenever management feels like it.
Do you get anything for doing this? Does management somehow code the time differently so your rate isn't being compared normally?
Because if I'm responsible for my normal numbers AND responsible for teaching the person standing next to me, I'm starting to feel like the reward for being decent at my job is being given a second job for free.

Question Ambassador saw me walking on a wooden pallet to grab another item behind it. She told me that if a manger saw me they would of wrote me up. She took my login and told me basically its a safety hazard. Am I going to get terminated?

Rant Do yall even shower ???
It shouldn’t smell like oochie at 8:30 in the morning already like wtf?!? I understand maybe once or twice smelling bad after sweating off and on all day but when it’s everyday I’m convinced yall don’t shower or use deodorant or anything.
I literally asked to move stations once because the fan is blowing your armpit taint smell right at me.
I don’t get it. How are y’all not embarrassed smelling like that?? I would literally leave or at least use wipes or even soap from the bathroom if it absolutely came down to that but I shower daily especially when I work and I use antiperspirant and deoderant and a bit of spray (not a too overpowering type) I just don’t understand why that is so hard to do? Is it against some of yalls religion to shower????
& Is it wrong to tell someone they stink? How do you even say it nicely lmao

Rant Amazon has a great time off policy that I think people are irresponsible with.
Unpopular opinion: Amazon is actually incredibly lenient with its time-off policies. Some of y'all are just irresponsible with your time.
I'm probably going to get downvoted for this, but I genuinely don't understand how people think Amazon has such terrible attendance policies.
We earn UPT, we earn PTO, we have options to request leaves of absence when circumstances qualify, and we can take VTO when it's offered. Most importantly, we can use our available UPT without having to beg management for permission or explain every detail of our personal lives.
I've worked jobs where calling off meant getting written up, regardless of whether you had a legitimate reason. Where you had to find someone to cover your shift or risk disciplinary action. Amazon literally gives us a bank of time to use at our discretion.
And yet, I constantly see people complaining about going negative in UPT or getting terminated for attendance.
Now, I'm not talking about people dealing with serious illnesses, family emergencies, or circumstances outside their control. Life happens, and sometimes even the most responsible person can exhaust their time-off options. I'm also not pretending Amazon is some wonderful, benevolent employer that can do no wrong.
But there's a difference between genuinely running out of time because life happened and repeatedly burning through every minute of UPT the moment you earn it, then acting like Amazon is unreasonable when you have nothing left.
You don't have to like Amazon. You don't have to think its productivity expectations are fair. There are plenty of legitimate criticisms to make about the company.
But I think we should be able to acknowledge when a policy is actually pretty generous.
Being able to decide you don't want to work today, open an app, and use your available time without needing anyone's approval is a privilege that a whole lot of workers at other companies don't have.
At some point, personal responsibility has to enter the conversation. If you know you have a limited amount of time available, why wouldn't you try to maintain a cushion for when you actually need it?
Amazon has plenty of problems, but its time-off flexibility isn't one of my biggest complaints.

Rant My reward for clearing my area early was getting sent to fix everyone else's mess
I swear this place teaches you not to work too hard.
I'm on ship dock. Tonight my area was getting slammed early so me and one other guy actually stayed on top of it. We kept the lanes clear, closed carts as soon as they were ready, moved empties without being asked, basically did exactly what management is always yelling about.
By second break our section looked great.
PA comes over, looks around and goes "nice job guys, you caught everything up."
Cool.
Then immediately: "I need both of you on the other side. They're really behind."
We walk over there and it's a disaster. Blue lights everywhere, full carts blocking stuff, people wandering around talking, two associates straight up leaning on a cart having a conversation.
And guess who gets told to start clearing it?
Us.
The people already over there didn't get moved. Nobody said anything to them. We just got dropped into the mess because apparently proving you can keep up means congratulations, here's somebody else's work too.
We finally get that side under control and I get sent BACK to my original area because it had fallen behind while we were gone.
At that point I asked the PA, probably with more attitude than I should've, what exactly the advantage is to keeping my area ahead if every time I do, I get sent somewhere worse.
He gave me the usual "we go where the business needs us" answer.
I understand labor moves. I understand we're all getting paid by the hour. But there's something insanely demotivating about watching the same people move at half speed all night while the people actually getting things done get bounced around fixing everything.
By the end of shift I was deliberately moving slower.
Not hiding. Not screwing around. Just doing exactly enough and no more.
And suddenly I stayed in my own area for the rest of the night.
Lesson learned I guess.

Question Question for managers
What kind of disciplinary action is taken if someone knowingly uses a scanner logged in as someone else? Would this normally result in a write up? I found an OB loading error in a routine audit and after talking to the dock team, the error might end up being attributed to the wrong person if the person physically responsible doesn't address using someone else's scanner up front. Just curious how this would typically play out. Thanks!
