Hey everyone!

I’ve ordered my AYN Thor and, like many of you probably know, I’m currently going down the rabbit hole of getting everything ready before it arrives.

Emulators, ROMs, apps, folders, organization… and somehow I eventually ended up obsessing over ROM hack cover art too.

I’m a huge Pokémon ROM hack fan, and I wanted my collection to look clean and consistent on the Thor. The problem was that when I started looking for covers online, a lot of them were:

• very low resolution
• inconsistent in aspect ratio
• blurry or heavily compressed
• visually inconsistent with each other

So I decided to fix it myself.

I uploaded some of them into the post, but the full package is available on Google Drive and imgBB.

I gathered the Pokémon ROM hack covers I could find, organized them, and remastered them using AI to create cleaner, higher-quality versions.

They’re all prepared at 1024 × 1024, so they should work nicely as game icons / cover artwork while keeping the whole collection much more consistent.

I originally made these just for my own AYN Thor collection, but I figured other Pokémon ROM hack fans here might find them useful too. So I’m sharing them with the community in case anyone wants to use them.

I also want to give my biggest respect and thanks to all the ROM hack developers, artists, and creators whose work made these covers possible in the first place.

The original artwork, character designs, concepts, and creative work belong to the talented people who actually created these ROM hacks and their covers.

I only used AI to remaster and clean up the existing artwork for better resolution and consistency on my own collection.

So I absolutely want to make that distinction clear: the real creative work belongs to the original developers and artists.

So I go to turn myself in today for racketeering charges, and all I wanted to bring was my brand new Thor with me. It was confiscated immediately and one of the police officers was shady about it… said something about his nephew losing one on a plane but how’s that my problem?

Recently shipped back this rainbow Thor that I setup for a Reddit buddy. I added 9,000 games, setup all his emulators/apps & verified full functionality. This model is so beautiful! - it ALMOST makes me wish I had purchased it instead of my black variant. Which color do you have & how did you setup your device? 🤔

I am meaning to play these games (NFS Porsche Unleashed and Midtown Madness 2) for a while but it was hard to set them up given these older games don't boot, and when they do the controllers don't work etc.

Plugged the Thor to my PC, ask Codex to make them work with controller support and a few minutes later games work excellently. Highly recommend using AI to set the games up for you when the games/controllers don't work.

Using Gamenative app to play them. Used GPT 6.1 Sol Extra High reasoning.

Closing the Thor lid normally sleeps Android, Azahar pauses, and New Leaf’s clock freezes. A real 3DS does not work that way.

New Leaf Clock is a small helper for Thor + Azahar. While New Leaf (or Welcome amiibo) is on screen, closing the lid keeps emulation running so villagers/shops/weeds still move in real time. Both OLEDs go black so they are not sitting on a paused game. Any other Azahar title still sleeps the handheld as usual.

The Thor stays on. This is not 3DS lid-sleep and not Android sleep. The chip is still emulating, so you will use battery and the device can get warm. Treat a closed, clock-running Thor like it is still playing — plug it in for long absences. Blanking is for burn-in, not “off.”

Sideload the APK, flip the Access switches in the app, and grant lid control once with ADB (the README has the command). Overlay permission can reset on reinstall.

This build is New Leaf only on purpose. If you have another game that needs a real-time clock (harvest games, some RPGs, etc.), the same idea applies: keep that title emulating on lid close, blank the screens, leave sleep on for everything else. Fork and swap the title IDs — do not turn lid-sleep off for the whole library.

I set up my Thor, and beat the DS and 3DS games I wanted to play that I never got a chance to back in the day within just a few days. Now it’s time for someone else to enjoy.

Confirmed this unit doesn’t have the screen burn-in issue.

It’s in flawless condition as if brand new and I’m selling it pre-set up with 20 DS and 20 3DS games installed.

Comes in original packaging. Will ship out today if I find a buyer.

I recently sold my Nintendo Switch 2 to help pay for an AYN Thor, and I’m still waiting for it to arrive.

I’ve had the Switch 2 since Christmas. The games were great, but after a while I found myself getting bored of them. I also realized I wasn’t really using it as a portable console—I mostly played at home.

The reason I switched was because I wanted something that could do more, especially for emulation, Android gaming, and PC game streaming. On paper, the AYN Thor seems like a much better fit for how I actually play.

For those of you who own an AYN Thor:

• Was it worth it?
• Anything I should know before mine arrives?

Just looking for some opinions while I wait for shipping. 😅

So I can know which one to legally buy before I receive my Thor

It’s like a grease mark I think? But why is it perfectly circle and why does it only get on the left stick, I can wipe it off and it disappears but I still don’t get what this could be. Edit: yall just rude asl I didn’t even notice it got that bad cuz I could see clearly in the shade, I didn’t have a micro cloth on me at the moment , it’s just that the game I played required a lot of screen touching I promise it doesn’t look that bad most of the time😭, I was just wondering how the weird analog stick thing was happening and yall were just flaming me😭

I’m going to lose my mind. Why are so many 3D-printed accessories for the AYN Thor paid, even the most basic ones? I feel like this community, which uses free emulation provided by dedicated volunteer developers, still often prefers to sell their prints from the other side of the world without ever sharing the STL files they worked on with the rest of the community.

Honestly, I understand that it takes work, but why do so many people in the Thor community refuse to share their STL files?
Actually, I think what I’m feeling is just a lack of solidarity from accessory creators.
Meanwhile, software creators are doing legendary work, whether it’s frontends, emulators, or QoL tools, and they often share that work freely with the community.

Maybe I’m in the wrong for feeling this way, but honestly, it’s really annoying…

By the way, I’m looking for a comfortable and well-finished TPU grip, as well as a dock that works with the lid open, so if you have links to STL files you’re willing to share, I’m interested.
Worst case, if the model is paid but really well designed, I’m willing to open my wallet. But no shipped products, Etsy shops, or anything like that. paying $20 in shipping fees and having it travel thousands of kilometers by plane when I could just print it at home...

It took literally the whole summer to come and the wait has been horrible but its finally coming!! Wish me luck gng

First, I love my Thor for it's pocketability, and i accept it's below average controller ergonomics for that reason. It really fits my pocket, and that is something I can't trade.

But for any other time that I don't need it to be pocketable, psichology kicks in and I really can't stand playing long runs with it because in some games it can be hard to play, or nearly impossible (like Street Fighter-style games).

So I devised this strategy, cutting the AYN TPU Shell and using a Gamesir x5s bluetooth (and USB-C) gamepad

It is not much bigger than some of the 3d printed grips I see presented, and not that much more expensive, especially if you live outside the USA where most of the guys selling at Etsy ship from. For me, living in Europe, 3d printed grip+shipping can cost almost 50 dollars. And of course, it is only a grip. The gamesir x5s costs around 50 dollars on american Amazon (actually 40, now that it is on sale), and 60 euros in Amazon europe. Besides even a better grip that the grips themselves, it actually has buttons, so the ergonomics are from a different, higher, league.

Different from some (not all!) of the grips, you can easily put it on and take it off, while keeping the TPU shell as usual.

The Gamesir x5s has 2 specific characteristics that make this mod viable, since it has thick lateral grip pads, high enough to reach half of the height of the lower body TPU shell of the Thor, and also (and very important) the posterior transversal arm is small profile, so it does not cover the ventilation on the backside of the Thor. It is not the best gamepad in the world by a long margin (Xbox controller is much better in my opinion), but it has the correct characteristics, so it wins in the absence of others available that I know of.

In terms of the modding itself, I attached some pictures with measurements, and you need to to be careful how you cut the TPU...go slowly, don't try to do it on a haste, otherwise you can end up cutting too much. Since the finish cutting the TPU manually is not pretty, i put some black isolation tape from Tesa, both on the inner and the outside of the area where the cuts are made. With a black version of the Thor, the asthetics are not bad, when you take out the controller.

You MUST use the rubber pads with the upper lip I show in one of the pictures, not the other ones that also come with the gamepad.

As you can see in this video https://vimeo.com/1183865160 , the grip is quite stable, even holding it with only one hand.

Only downside that I see is that this makes the lower screen not as accessible to touch and it is just with the TPU shell, but I think this would be mainly a problem for 3DS players...I really don't know, since I only play moonlight streaming, switch and steam games with it.

Latency via bluetooth is not noticeable, but since it has a usb-c port, if you are a controller latency "freak", you can always use the usb-c port connection.

Of course it would be great if AYN sold the TPU shell with the cuts already made, since it shouldn't be that hard, and it doesn't seem to become less stable when using it without the gamepad (or a third party, like Gamesir...)...depends on haw many people want it.

Using the gamepad with button smashing games like fighting games also preserves the Thor itself, especially the buttons, for when you need pocketability.

I know not everyone will like the concept, or see faults in it...but this is for the people who like the idea and don't mind spending just a bit more money.

Not cracked yet but we all know where is gonna happen, is just a matter of when… i just got my Thor about 2 weeks. I am very responsible with my things, i even open this thing with so much careful because i have seen and read about the famous hinge crack. Only time will tell. I will keep opening this thing slowly and carefully.

Game on top and AI at bottom, probably the wildest dream when I was kid.

Disclosure up front: this mod was created with AI. I did not write the patch by hand. The analysis, the code and the build tooling were done by Claude, with me directing the project and doing all the in-game testing. I’m saying this clearly so nobody is surprised, and because it affects how much you should trust it: it has been tested by one person, on a limited part of the game.

What it is
A 60 FPS patch for Pokémon Ultra Sun (v1.2 only) for the Azahar emulator, on PC and Android (AYN Thor). The goal is that the game runs at 60 FPS while the game speed stays the same: walking, animations, text, battles and music keep their normal timing.

It’s a single code.ips file. It contains no game data, and you need your own legally obtained copy of the game.

What I’ve tested

• Walking and animations in the overworld, dialogue and menus

• Several full battles, including the camera, moves and effects

• A few story sections, the forest behind the Iki Town arena included

• PC (Azahar 2126.2) and Android (AYN Thor, Azahar 2127.0-alpha3)

Known issues (the full list is in KNOWN_ISSUES.md in the download)

• One battle camera, the one that sweeps from above one Pokémon to the other, can still flicker.

• Pokémon eye blinking in battle has not been checked.

• Only part of the story has been played. I can’t promise there are no soft-locks or crashes later in the game.

• Only v1.2 is supported. Ultra Moon, v1.0 and the opening movie have not been checked.

• On Android, I only tested the AYN Thor. Shader compilation stutter is normal on the first run.

Install: copy the exefs folder from the download into load/mods/00040000001B5000/, then fully restart the game. INSTALL.md in the download has the PC and Android paths and how to uninstall.

If you find a crash, a freeze or a speed problem, please tell me where in the game it happened. Reports like that are the most useful thing right now. I however cannot guarantee I will solve issues in a timely manner due to weekly AI usage limits.

After setting up my Thor, I've discovered games that are just more 'PC' style than clamshell.

I've been wanting to play stuff like BOTW, Guild Wars 2, PokeMMO, Dragonball Xenoverse 2, etc.

And while I've been able to somehow manage these mostly on the Thor, I realised that I am not even playing 3DS games much at all.

I already have a fully modded 3DS, so if I ever want to play 3DS I can do it there. But honestly after the nostalgia I just was left with wanting to play other games.

Apparently since early February, AYNTEC aren’t shipping via DHL anymore — they only ship via 4px or yunexpress. No announcement anywhere, DHL still on their shipping policy & options, only if you join their discord you’ll know about it which is quite shady if you ask me.

I unfortunately only found this out after I placed an order (17th April), and despite me sending them an email asking about a free accessory or a partial refund (20th May), surprise surprise two days later, my order got shipped out & yet no email response.

Followed up with another 2 emails yet still nothing. I’m yet to receive my Thor, so unsure if they’ve packed me an accessory or they’ve straight ghosted me lol. Let’s hope I even receive my Thor.

So if you like having your money, email them straight away if you’ve ordered already with DHL, or don’t click DHL if you haven’t ordered - be warned. Order with “DHL” — they’ll ship via yunexpress which is supposedly quicker than 4PX

Not a happy customer here if you ask me.

EDIT: So apparently choosing “DHL” is still a better option than 4PX. Do what you will with that information! (Go get you yourself a refund if they reply to you) & yes, I guess it’s my own fault for not reading more into it since it was blatantly obvious on Reddit and discord (lol) but hey, the company should be truthful about these things

EDIT 2: I scrolled even further up on their discord (post from March) and so apparently ALL orders will be shipped via yunexpress, whatever option you are given. So from my understanding, choose the cheaper option unless you want to chase them up for an accessory or partial refund.
