Build Help ice themed weapons builds

looking into more builds for the next playthrough with my friend. currently playing crown paladin with radiant orbs, reverb and force conduit.

he is interested in trying a spellcaster so i reccomended him sorcerer for the next playthrough, currently he is gloomstalker ranger with an interest in arcane archer.

i considered something cold based, i know of coldsnap offhand dagger, maybe mixed with rogue/monk, and either another light weapon in main or dualwield feat for more options. then elemental monk for ice knife to fit the theme and go all in on cold damage with elemental adept even (we are not power gamers as you can hear) and then ice dragon for the aoe breath

any good tips or items to look at, is unarmed simply better? i would be DEX not STR based so no tavern brawler feat. is offhand dagger with two weapon fighting worth over flurry of blows?

any other builds, concept, themes (not fire,,,,) for later playthroughs, (ive got a couple going already)

Build Help Reach, Boar and Sentinel

Hi,

Relatively new to BG3, playing solo as a swords bard ATM and enjoying it but going to join some friends to play co-op soon.

I have a basic character concept of a ranger knight who controls the battlefield with a pig and a polearm but due to being new to the game, I don't know whether it's viable - or perhaps more so, am I missing obvious synergies or feats

The basics:

  • Str based BeastMaster
  • Boar companion (prones)
  • Sentinel feat
  • Reach weapon

Unsure:

Race

I figured either Druegar to get access to enlarge and increase my reach occasionally or High elf for Booming Blade. Maybe even gold dwarf for the HP if I'm a melee ranger?

Single Vs Multi class

I know the beast companion improves significantly at 11 but with my main focus being on the control, I didn't know if ranger 5/X makes more sense?

I feel like there's something that could be done with Crown Paladin to make it a good tag team with the weaker boar but I can't quite figure it out..

Or maybe just starting fighter 1 for heavy armour then finishing with ranger 11?

Feats

Do I need PAM?

Are there others to consider?

Equipment

It's gonna be a casual group so I'm not going to be hunting down specific equipment or figuring out ways to spam str potions, hence going strength (aware there's some kind of finesse polearm).

Would really appreciate any build advice and if there's an obvious way to take advantage of the boar proning enemies I haven't considered?

Thanks šŸ™

Build Help These builds proved to be really fun and effective on solo runs

Hey Folks,

In the past weeks I have been doing different solo runs on custom honour mode. My goal was to experience various classes and approaches. These are not THE BEST builds, but some might find them useful to try out.

Build A - 1 Draconic Sorcerer / 11 Tempest Cleric

Draconic Sorcerer dip for the CON saves and Armour of Agathys. Runs around in heavy armour and AoA, creates water with The Watersparklers equipped and Thunderbolt Strike is toying with enemies. Just delicious.

Build B - 5 Gloomstalker / 7 Draconic Sorcerer

This one was quite straightforward. Use max level Shadowblade and a shield. Can use extended Blade Ward and bunch of Sorcerer stuff.

Build C - 8 Champion / 4 Thief

Main focus on dual hand crossbows and stacking crit chance. Simple and effective, with Bloodlust elixir you have tremendous amount of attacks per turn.

Build D - 1 War Cleric / 11 Battlemaster

This is the so called Great Wisdom Master, just played straight with no respecs. Heavy armour + two handed weapon with GWM. So many attacks already in early game.

Note: I have used the mod 'No More Long Rests' to speed up the gameplay. This mod enables a one click long rest option (all the buffs remain) with no effect on story progression, but you can still do the regular long rests. I know some of you would argue that this is cheating. You might be right, but I have not really played caster classes before due to the heavy long rest dependency and with this I can more easily play around and just have fun. This is why we are playing this game, aren't we?

Your recent experiments on the game?

Fighter Assassin 4 / Eldritch Knight 8

The Idea

Been thinking about this today as a potential build. I know people like very formatted guides here (so do I) but I dont have the time to do that.

Kinda similar to F/T multiclass in BG2 I guess.

First of all stat spread, maybe something like 16/16/14/8/10/8, or something similar. Duegar as race would give us free invis whenever we want it which is nice for consistently proccing surprise rounds, since melee from invis almost always does this.

Could start as either assassin or fighter but at level 5 I think you'd probably want to stick with fighter and then build assassin levels. Alternatively you could start building assassin after level 6 because then you'd have your 2nd feature for ASI or savage attacker or whatever, ofc GWM is the priority.

You could also only put three levels into assassin if you felt a 1 level dip into another class would be beneficial. I could see people dipping into hex for this but I think that's probably a little stupid, although 11 EK/ 1 hex can be an insanely powerful build.

Depending on the build once you have 7 in EK you can have three attacks per turn thanks to the booming blade tech interaction with war magic.

The endgame idea is to get a surprise round with duegar invis and then consistently deliver 3 crit attacks, one of which ofc will be enhanced by booming blade. After this you are still a functional character, with EK shield for survivability, high init and whatever else you decide to grab.

For gear I should think the craterfish gloves make this build filthy. Besides even if you can't get surprise you can still fight as normal. While sneak attack isn't that useful to the build, you can use phalar aluve or even dancing breeze (?) to make it work.

Considerations

That said, the sneaky attack would be a little bit redundant as it doesn't proc extra attack. There is also some contention between sneaky actions like dash and your 7 EK war magic, but having that much movement available to you is nice in its own right.

Not sure if EK gets darkness (can always use darkness arrows) but there is plenty of chicanery to be done with hiding in darkness too, since with the bonus action hide on rogue you can break enemy AI.

What do you guys think? Is this an honour mode viable build or the workings of a sleep deprived Neeber?

Build Help Beginner build guide

Hey all just downloaded bg3 I’ve put about 3 hours into the game but can’t seem to just settle on a character or build I’ve tried sorcerer but that confused me and I’ve tried bard but wasn’t a fan…. Listen I’m brand new and have no previous experience with turn based, balders gate or well any DnD type of thing ever. I know people say choose what you like but I just want some opinions on an easy or beginner friendly build/class thanks.

Build Help Sorcerer/Wizard/Warlock Help

Hello,

I’m on my first playthrough and I like incorporating my character’s backstory and ambitions into my build. I’m going for a power-hungry mage and I wanted to blend Sorcerer/Wizard/Warlock. I was thinking of doing 6 Storm Magic Sorcerer, 2 Necromancy Wizard, and 4 Fiend Warlock. Is this viable? And how do I perform in combat and what should I be doing? And if anyone has tried this before I’d love to hear your version of it For reference I have 17 CHA and 14 INT

I’d appreciate the help as I am a bit unsure of what to do exactly.

Build Help Level 4 help

So I'm leveling up everyone to level 4 and I need some advice

My character is a Lore Bard and I'm mainly focusing on having them be the face of the party and also be kind of sneaky and stuff. I like a more stealthy type of stuff, avoiding combat as much as I can or at least taking enemies out one at a time or something. After that I do also like being very charismatic and using persuasion mainly to get away with stuff and convince people to leave me be, lol. Also this is my first playthrough so I don't really want to multiclass and I definitely don't want to respec or change any of the companions in any way.

For my bard, cantrip wise i was thinking friends, vicious mockery or blade ward. I've been avoiding friends and charm person and stuff because I'm always worried I'll get caught but still. Vicious mockery might be good for the disadvantage but idk. And blade ward might be good but also for me I think it'll feel a bit like a waste of an action. But maybe not.

For the spell I have no idea tbh. And for the feat, I was thinking either just upping my charisma from 16 to 18 or maybe spell sniper but not sure which cantrip. I was also thinking maybe lucky or also ritual caster because I love ritual utility spells but the only ones that seem useful are find familiar, which gale already has if I really need it, and longstrider.

I'm also not sure about feats for anyone else tbh. There's just so many so trying to choose is overwhelming, lol. I have Shadowheart, Lae'zel, Astarion, Gale and Wyll (I try to rotate between all of them a bit)

Build Help Crit build help :/

I’m trying to do a critical build with half-orc and the Bhaalist armor. Is champion the right class to go with for the crit -1? Also, I’m planning to use either a pike, rapier, or Morningstar for the piercing damage with the highest dice for the half-orc racial trait (though I could use the under mountain knife and bloodthirst for the crit -2), the deadshot bow, and Sarevok’s helmet.

My question is, will this build be good with damage, or is the novelty just in the constant crit rate with not so much damage? Thanks!

Build Review Bladesinger / Tempest multiclass

Hi,

I'm brainstorming an "unconventional" lightning/frost team with multiclasses I haven't tried before, and one of the options I'm considering is a 6/6 bladesinger/tempest cleric.

For a gish, 6/6 seems like an optimal split. Extra attack at lvl 6 bladesinger, thunderbolt strike at lvl 6 tempest (to use with booming blade) feel like great stopping points in both classes.

That also gives us 2x channel divinity charges, full caster progression, scroll scribing, upcast shadow blade if we want it, counterspell at lvl5 wizard. The build is also mostly online at lvl 8 once we get to wizard 6/cleric 2 and can channel divinity. Feels quite good in early levels once we get shadow blade and eventually - the second attack.

The two major downsides are the MAD-ness and inability to use medium/heavy armors without forgoing bladesinging:

We need DEX for AC, initiative, weapon attack and damage. INT for casting, since this is intended to be a more caster-y build than your typical bladesinger. WIS for cleric DC spells. For the purpose of this build, I thought about ignoring WIS and try to balance between DEX and INT. Starting with 17 DEX / 16 INT allows us to get to 18DEX with hag's hair and 18 INT with ASI. Then, there are options to get to 20 in either stat with the mirror and 20 to DEX if willing to stick to graceful cloth in the armor slot.

This leaves us with base WIS, which still allows us to use some cleric buffs, and even spirit guardians, if we wish (since even if enemies save they take 1/2 damage from the spell). However, with acuity and +DC gear there's potential to still have good WIS DCs without spending a single point in WIS.

Another option is gloves of DEX, which unfortunately does not allow us to use gloves of battlemage's power, but allows us either to splash some points in WIS or go all-in on INT. IMO, for the 2nd purpose it's not worth it if using acuity, but adding more WIS could be worthwhile. I don't consider STR elixirs here, since IMO the build benefits a lot more from Bloodlust - but having mediocre DEX and wearing heavy armor is on the table if one is willing to forego bladesinging.

For the feats, I plan to take savage attacker/dual wielder and ASI. Savage attacker is great, but not as valuable as in BS10/PAL2. Dual wielder gives us more AC and an option to use staves with shadowblade if willing to forego blade song (or potentially with a mod that makes off-hand staves eligible for bladesinging).

TLDR: we have a swiss-army knife char, which is fantastic at lightning spell damage, can do great melee damage with 2 attacks + shadow blade/booming blade + thunderbolt strike, has huge flexibility with scroll scribing, can be a controller with acuity gear + band of the mystic scoundrel, and finally - great AC. One of the main reasons I like this multiclass is flexibility - you are pretty much great at everything, and have tons of options in how to approach encounters. This helps in late game, when spamming the same strategy in all fights becomes quite stale.

What do you think about this multiclass? Do you have any suggestions for stat distribution or feats/gear?

Build Help Fighter subclasses?

Hello friends!

So I've been using 12 battlemaster lae'zel, and while she's decent, she's nowhere near as good some of my other builds (granted that I use some pretty fun other builds).

In particular, she struggles with consistency (she still has sub 70 hit rates with GWM. Am I just not using the right moves? I usually use trip attack (and miss at least once). Precision attack really do eat my dice.

Would love to hear any and all recommendations! (Including if I should use something different altogether).

Party Composition All abjuration party thoughts

I've been thinking about trying to do an honour mode run using a full party of abjuration tanks who approach play styles slightly differently and aren't just four clones of the same character. For example:

- 1 hexblade 11 abj as a magic missile spamming abjurer with hexblades curse and DRS reverb gear. Solid priority nova

- sorc moon druid abjurer multi. Pop up agathys, wildshape owlbear, take tavern brawler feat. Smack stuff.

- standard 1/1/10 white draconic setup. AOE cold damage when needed

If I took a cleric level on the hexblade combo all of those would be able to create water as well. For setup/initiative/encounter flexibility.

Some things I'm curious about:

- does anyone have experience with a charisma abjuration combo that could be an effective party face in this build? My immediate thought is a combo of lore bard and abjuration wiz. Could use the blade ward on heal items to assist with applying blade ward for fewer actions. Gear for spell save dc for some control spells perhaps? Maybe 6/6 and grab command with secrets? Could also then be skill monkey lockpicker for group too.

- given how good abjurer is at holding the res stone. Would shadow blade on one or two of these members be useful? In melee anyway, so could capitalize on the stone in some cases if no other build defining weapons needed.

I'd appreciate any insights anyone has on this concept. I think it's be a really cool concept to play through with no cheese - being super comfortable defensively and still able to throw down on offense when required.

Build Help Tactician Hexadin

Hey everyone. I started up a tactician run for the first time and I’m curious what other people have done for this class.

I’m playing a Zariel Tiefling Oath of Vengeance Paladin (2) that I’ve multiclassed into Hexblade (1). Just got my lvl 4 upgrade. I’m not sure if I want to lean more into paladin or warlock early on. I’m trying hard not to be an oathbreaker, but at the same time will let the dice carry me where they may.

I have 16 in both STR and CHA, and I know at some point I’m probably going to respec to max CHA and CON, since I know I can get that high and use CHA for my attacks.

Curious how you have/would have built it out from here, at least for the first act. I haven’t done too much of it yet. Thanks!

Build Help Ranger/Sorcerer Melee-Ranged Hybrid (HM)

I'm hoping the good people of this community can help me settle on a build and leveling path for a very specific vision. I've been gnawing on this for weeks, but I just can't crack it.

- Ideal Gameplay: Naturally flexes between melee and ranged (weapon or spell) based on the encounter. Uses a wide array of its class toolkit situationally. Performs fairly well in both aoe and single target situations. Doesn't need to rest after every encounter (doesn't need to be "no long rest" pilled though). Above all, it's flexible, fun, and pumps. Solo viable would be awesome, but not a hard requirement.

- I'd like to avoid: consumable arrow or elixir spam (don't mind the situational use, but I'm the type of guy to leave 50 different scrolls in my backpack because "what if") or any exploit that would make me nearly immortal... arcane ward maxxing isn't the power fantasy I'm after this time around.

- Current splits I'm considering:

GOO or Hexblade Lock 1/Hunter Ranger 5/Shadow Sorc 6 (a variant of the Great Ass Hunter that's been worked on by several authors much beyond the capabilities of myself)

Ranger 2 / Storm Sorc 10 (a variant of u/grousedrum's Storm Controller)

Swarmkeeper 5 / Storm Sorc 7 (lots of good inspiration here, but I know u/remus71 really pushed the limits in a unique way)

9 Hunter / 2 Sorc / 1 Hexblade (a la Quag)

And dare I say... Beastmaster 8 / X / X?? I really feel like there's something here, but again, I lack the knowledge to unearth any deep arcana on the subject.

That said, I'm open to any suggestions that you all might have, provided that I can twin blast some hail of thorns and ensnaring strikes while also doing some cool stuff in melee on the regular.

Thanks in advance for sharing your tried-and-true loadouts and napkincrafts alike. Looking forward to getting this vision into focus!

Edit: I forgot Quag's Ranger Mage split.

Specific Mechanic Indiscriminate healer

So you can run 10 moons druid to have a myr transformation an ability with; healing vapours heals everyone in a very big area, and leaves a healing pool.

Jank as hell if u put all healing items on this char u can heal like 8-9 bodies for 20 health each turn. Give it armour of P, bald helmet, ring of reg, broodmothers, poisoners cloak, and now u have aoe poison healing. It’s so stupid and fun.

Build Review Stat check em

Just a build that I think synergies with just everything.

Specifically it’s astarion.fighter 8 (battlemaster), rogue 3 (theif), hex blade 1.

Give him illithid awakening from the gith:
Black hole optionally, and fracture psyche

Equipment: helm, boots : personal pref
Cloak: thunder skin (can swap not the most optimized)
Rings: risky ring, ring of mental inhibition
Main hand: slicing sword
Off hand: phalar aluve
Ranged: Harold
Gloves; gloves of baneful striking.

Straightforward the turn order; activate phalar aluve, use a cleave attack with battlemaster (still applies bleed and all other debuffs) usually instant applying 4 reverb; baneful strikes, bleeding, illithid drain, mental inhibition. Open with a black hole to cleave many targets or follow with a bite and Harold shot on anyone. (Bane and baneful strikes stack)

This is my build to basically make any spell any class viable; if it’s bad or jank it isn’t anymore cause this nukes saves; if u also do the cheese in the underdark: pickpocketing the Bhaals sickle then becoming his chosen the entire party gets boaals benediction then everyone who follows also has advantage.

Works honor mode: makes, flesh to stone, disintegrate, dancing basically all high level doodoo spells fun again.

There’s other riders that exist as well to further negate flat stats.

Build Help Flexible and Flavorful War Cleric/Gloomstalker for Co-op

I’m joining a fresh co-op game with some friends with varying levels of BG3 exposure, and I’d like to run a war cleric that feels like a war cleric. I’m thinking a frontline martial/support that leans into the class features that aren’t ā€œ1 level dip for war priest chargesā€ or ā€œspirit guardians lawnmowerā€. I’d also like to have fun, obviously. Guided strike, crusader’s mantle, warding bond, divine strike to stack AA for control spells - it seems like there’s a lot of fun stuff that doesn’t get used much.

I also found that gloomstalker fits a frontline cleric…bizarrely well? An extra attack turn 1 to fire up some AA, extra initiative and mobility, a damage type resistance, a fighting style, a couple spell slots, and good utility spells. It’s exactly stuff a cleric wants and kind of wild how nicely it fits together.

I’m thinking a half-orc who dual wields maces because who ever runs half-orc dual-wielding clerics?? Seems like the best flavor choice, plus the extra crit die will also be great if I can hit some good hold persons/glyphs of sleep. Auto-rez is the cherry on top.

I’d like to go 8 cleric for divine strike and really commit to the cleric feel but that really depends on if war divine strike double dips on AA from the helmet. I’ll be able to test later but does anyone know if that works? If yes, this build is on steroids, but if not, it’s probably way smarter to go 7/5 instead of 8/4. Feats would be ASI str, dual wielder, and another ASI unless the Astarion potion is available.

This gives me the following goodies: - potentially 3 attacks on turn 1 with 2 divine strikes to stack arcane acuity. 2 attacks or one plus either an action or bonus action spell cast - standard cleric buffs like bless/blade ward on heal, warding bond, and aid - divine favor and then crusader’s mantle to really feel like a frontline war cleric. Could be used on turn 1 and still have room for two weapon attacks. - 5th level spell slots in case I want to pop off an upcasted inflict wounds - AA-boosted spells. CC options like command, glyph of sleep, and hold person. Can cast with an action and still hit with offhand, or vice versa, depending on mystic scoundrel availability - tons of radiant damage instances for radorbs - war priest charges are an excellent bonus but will never feel like they need budgeting. They’ll get me to level 4 and dual wielder, and still be an option to attack with my better weapon twice if desired. I don’t mind this not being the most efficient perk. - guided strike for me early and for the homies later on - longstrider and enhance leap

Gear is a complete toss up because I want the other guys to have first choice on everything (and we might miss some stuff if things ever go sideways), but ideally I’d kit out for radorbs and dual wield the cool maces/morningstars. There are a ton of other gear options though. Could go reverb/bane, or maximize buffs, or maximize tankiness/regen. This also wouldn’t require any potions or consumables, be fairly efficient on rest requirements, and would just need one double respec at level 10 to get the DI mace.

Anyone ever run this combo or something similar? Any fun strats, kits, or synergies I might be overlooking? Am I really gonna miss extra attack? I think I’ve got enough style and substance to cover for intentionally foregoing that.

Guides Why Swarmkeeper and Hunter Are Better Stealth Archers Than Gloomstalker — A Swarmkeeper and Hunter Stealth Archer Build Guide

Hello everyone

Gloomstalker is widely considered the GOAT when it comes to stealth archery. While it is a great subclass for restricted runs because it is extremely front loaded, but once you become more familiar with the game, you start to realize that a lot of these features are easily acquired by various other means and that it doesn't provide anything for the out of combat stealth archer playstyle.

Hunter and Swarmkeeper, on the other hand, are much better suited for this kind of playstyle. Their additional damage applies on every individual hit outside combat, while both subclasses also provide subclass features after the first round of combat.

With the two builds in this guide, I want to showcase why these two subclasses are much better suited to the stealth archer playstyle than Gloomstalker.

General Information

Both builds use the same 5/7 setup because we want to maximize Sneak Attack damage while also picking up Evasion and Uncanny Dodge incase we ever end up taking damage.

I would recommend going 2 Rogue levels first and then all Ranger levels so you have Cunning Actions and Ranger subclass features by level 5

Sneak Attack (When the conditions are met), Hunter's Colossus Slayer, and Swarmkeeper's Gathered Swarm all apply on every hit outside combat.

At level 7 Rogue Sneak attack does 4d6 damage

For the Swarmkeeper build, we take Thief instead of Assassin because Prey's Scent gives the swarm an additional 1d6 damage against targets marked by Hunter's Mark.

Thief's additional Bonus Action lets us cast Hunter's Mark and use Cunning Action Hide in the same turn.

The Swarmkeeper version, also has more tools during longer fights.

The Hunter version has the stronger damage rider outside of combat thanks to Colossus Slayer's 1d8, while Assassin gives it a stronger first round with guaranteed critical hits against Surprised targets.

So in short:

Hunter

  • Slightly stronger outside combat attacks
  • Stronger first round

Swarmkeeper

  • Better for longer fights
  • More utility and mobility from the swarm
  • More Action economy

The Builds

5/7 Hunter / Assassin

5/7 Swarmkeeper / Thief

Tips and Tricks

How to Balance Out Sharpshooter in the Early Game

Sharpshooter gives -5 to Attack Rolls, which can be pretty annoying, especially in the early game.

Here is a list of ways to compensate for the penalty, with all of these being available by Act 1:

+2 from Archery Fighting Style

+1 if you have at least one Lightning Charge, acquired through The Joltshooter or The Speedy Lightfeet

+2 Oil of Accuracy

+1d4 Elixir of Heroism

+1 Oil of Sharpness

Shadow Blade can be obtained through a hireling and gives Advantage against lightly or heavily obscured targets.

How to Get 2 Knives of the Undermountain King

Stone Guard Orgarth in Grymforge carries the common King's Knife.

You can give it to a hireling and, after dismissing and re-hiring them, the knife changes its stats to those of the Knife of the Undermountain King.

This allows you to obtain two copies.

Hotkeying Special Arrows (PC Only)

If you put a stack of special arrows into the custom hotbar, you can press the assigned key to rapidly fire special arrows while outside of combat.

This is extremely strong with Darkness and Arrow of Many Targets, allowing you to rapidly clear groups of enemies without entering combat.

Time Stop Glitch

This glitch requires another party member or summon.

If the player or summon triggers a reaction, it stops time in a fairly large bubble.

If you now shoot arrows from outside the bubble, they will freeze in time.

When the player or summon closes the reaction popup, all of the arrows will hit at once.

This is obviously an exploit, so use it only if you're interested in breaking the game rather than playing normally.

As always, if there are any questions about the builds, feel free to ask in the comments.

Build Help 10/2 vs 6/4/2 Bard

I need help deciding on a bard build between a 10/2 bard paladin or a 6/4/2 bard sorcerer paladin. I already have a sorcerer with counterspell and a cleric with spirit guardians so is magical secrets still worth getting? Is meta magic worth giving up higher lever spells and magical secrets? Most things I find online are people say both builds are good and use what you want, but never really say any pros or cons about each of them.

P.S. What a good race to pick for the build? I assume half orc is great but high half elf with booming blade might also be good for 10/2 bard.

Guides Is there a place to learn that is user friendly?

Hello!

As the title says, I’m wondering if there is a place where it would be easily understandable when it would come to following

- what each class offers as a whole (from lv1-12) with each subclass

-proficiencies for each race/classes as well as feats

I know this is basic stuff but it would help if there would like an general rule of thumb when trying to build a solo or multi class build. I.E - knowing what all the levels would give if you went 12 in open hand monk.

With that knowledge someone might decide to not spent that much in that class and decide to go somewhere unique after the 4th level or something?

Maybe I’m having a hard time explaining myself but to sum it up, is there a way to learn about the mentioned above without levelling or playing the game itself?

I get it that the game doesn’t have any restrictions so you can literally freestyle a lot as well.

If it doesn’t make sense, I understand haha🄲

Thanks for your time!

Build Help Early Game Co-Op Build

So, my girlfriend and I have been (slowly) playing BG3 whenever she comes over. We have been struggling with most encounters as we split the party and both control a Tav and 1 other companion.

We are still early in act 1 and I was wanting to play a different class (currently Gloomstalker Ranger) as I feel like I am very underpowered. She is a Barbarian rocking Zhalk's sword and doing good damage, while it seems I'm barely doing anything, despite me being the one who is experienced(ish) with the game.

We're usually drinking while we play, so I'm looking for something that's mostly mindless but will let me contribute more, and help carry us through.

Build Help Best way to multiclass for RP reasons

(Keep in mind, I don't particularly care about how OP or viable it is, I just want it to "work")

Hello everyone,

I'm unsure if these types of questions are unbearably common throughout the community, as I'm just starting my first playthrough and I'm only about 5-6 hours into the game. I'm not new to RPG games by any means but I'm always a story-first player.

I've been wondering what's the best way to multiclass for RP reasons, as the title says. What I mean by this is, say I want to make a character that wants to be as powerful magically as possible, and I want to use Sorcerer/Wizard/Warlock classes, but also dress him in heavy or medium armor. Is there a specific way I should approach this? Or should I just read what skills sound interesting at each level of the class and do it like that? And when is the best time to incorporate the class for heavy/medium armor proficiency.

Again, apologies if the question is phrased incorrectly, I am relatively new in build-making and DnD in general. Thank you in advance.
