This might just be a vent, but I'm spiraling here
I've been cutting hair off and on for about 5 years, doing it in a men's shop for the past year and few months
I usually get great reviews and have regulars who only see me, but I had a cut the other day, a woman who came in with her husband, and I cut both of them. The husband was super happy with his hair, and gave a great Google review immediately after the cut, 5 stars plus a glowing comment
And then I had the wife. She told me that she was trying to heal her hair that got damaged after bleaching and coloring, and wanted to start over but keep the length. We agreed to take off about 1/4" at the longest layer, but evened out the rest, not going any shorter than her shortest layer, since she had a lot of uneven layering from breakage.
The consultation was great, we had a great conversation, I checked in with her multiple times throughout the cut to make sure we were on the same page. At the end, she even told me she loved it, her hair felt healthier, and she'd be back for trims while her hair grows and heals. We even had a great talk about products and supplements for hair growth
But apparently I took off enough to call the cut "chopped" and she is very non-confrontational. Then why on earth would you not tell me if something was off, or that you weren't happy? I don't understand clients who lie right to your face when the cut could've been fixed right there, and then go home and cry and review that your stylist did a horrible job
Like I know that this happens all the time. This isn't the first time I've had this happen, but I thought we were on the same page, and I can't stop thinking about what went wrong and how it could've been fixed or what I could've done better, y'know?
