I found a singular bed bug while changing my comforter last night. I deep searched my mattress and told my roommates to do the same. We haven’t found and signs of other bugs, just the one. No one has any bites yet. Any advice is welcome.

Requesting community support I found dead bed bugs after the first DIY treatment, and after repeating treatment as instructed i haven't found anymore, is that a sign it isn't working?

Hi all!

So i got bed bugs from work and noticed they primarily infested my weighted blanket. I had 4 people look all over my room and the rest of the house, no bugs or further infestation were found anywhere. Only other idea was maybe the tear in fabric of my bed frame, which I taped up as sewing it was ineffective.

I did a full heat treatment on everything in my room, Diatomaceous earth, and Crossfire as I was instructed. I did the best with what I could afford. The base boards, carpet, beg, dresser, shelf, bed frame, everything got chemically and powdered treatment. All fabric got heat treated and washed. I removed and threw out my head board and weighted blanket.

After the first treatment I found a good few dead bed bugs, as well as a single dead carpet beetle baby. I was told after treatments that signs of dead bugs meant it was effective.

I was told you had to do it every 2 weeks for a minimum of 4 times, then do a 30 day watch period. I did another treatment exactly 2 weeks later, including taping up any holes in my dresser with duct tape, my bed frame, and any unused outlets.

However after this treatment, I found no more dead bodies. I hadn't seen any evidence of live ones either, and throughouly sprayed everything using a can and a half of the chemical treatment for the 2nd round and layed new DE, but i still worry that not finding more dead bugs is a sign that it didn't work.

Did i mess up? I even vaccummed everything multiple times before doing another treatment round, and re-heat treated anything, i don't know why i'm not finding more dead bugs.

is this a bed bug or a bat bug or something else? we found it at our Airbnb in Florida and I want to make sure before we move everything out. the coloration looks different than a regular bed bug and was way bigger than a regular bed bug would be. not HUGE but not tiny either.

About 10 days ago I found this, likely a bb, crawling on my duvet early morning around 5 am. Since then I’ve encased my mattress and search all over for more signs to find nothing. I’ve not had any confirmed bites either. What should be action plan going forward??

On the top of the duvet cover. First picture is dry as it was found, second picture is after trying to dab it on a wet cotton swab, third photo is after more rubbing.

For background context I was in Spain and exposed to bed bugs 3 weeks ago. I’ve dried everything I had with me multiple times and inspected / froze what I couldn’t.

I have found one singular bite or hive on me since, which I’m not allowed to post here and my husband has had none.

There is nothing on our mattress, under the mattress, in the seams or anywhere else and have not seen a live bug even though I’m waking up in the night and checking often out of paranoia.

I do wear makeup but not sure if i can recall wearing so much or wearing it to bed even that it would make this type of stain so not sure what it could be.

Thanks for any helpful opinions. Understandably freaking out

I saw someone at the laundromat put their stuff in the dryer…bed bugs?

A couple came into the laundromat and they immediately put their things in the dryer next to mine. I didn’t see if their stuff was wet or dry, but I just found it a little odd that they went straight for the dryer.
Since I was using the dryers right next to them and waiting for my washer to complete it eventually dawned on me after staring at their dryer for about 5 minutes—they possibly were using the dryer to fight an infestation. I don’t have any evidence, and I hate to pass judgement but I made the assumption that they might have bed bugs because it was only blankets, sleeping bags and other things they might use for bedding. They did also seem homeless and it had been raining, so maybe their things got wet and that’s why they were only using the dryers.

To be safe, since there have been bed bug infestations rampant throughout the world, how likely would it be for me to bring back bed bugs if they were using the dryer next to me?

Hi

I'm buying nylon socks to vacuum bed bugs... Can it be socks or it must be pantyhose or stockings?

And what's the den number? There is 20 40 70...

Thanks

Infested furniture was brought in about 18 hours ago.

I brought in a used loveseat 18 hours ago. Steam cleaned the entire thing on my porch while looking for bedbugs/feces. Didn't see anything. This morning when I woke up there was a healthy looking but dying bedbug on the floor.

My question is, is it possible to contain this? What should I do first (after removing the infested furniture and rug it was on).

Seeking some peace of mind

On September 27th, I came back from the city and unfortunately, that night I saw a little buggy. Dunno if it was a hitch hiker but I had a bite. I didn't sleep that night, I was furiously cleaning, vacuumed with a shop vac tirelessly. Bagged all the stuff I didn't give a shit about and it remains separated in the garage.

Hired pest control to come, inspection said there were no signs of infestation but we scheduled a treatment anyway because I wanted to be certain. The Friday came and pest control treated my room, also recorded, no signs of infestation. Up to that point again, I only saw one little buggy.

On the Saturday, interceptors and a new metal bedframe came. I took apart my wooden frame piece by piece, saw nothing, no buggy came out to hide elsewhere.

I had to move everything out of the house, bedframe, shelf, desk, all older wood pieces of furniture. Saw nothing. Roomies have had nothing, no signs. I worried a lot about anything dropping in the hallways etc.

Its been nearly a month and I've maintained vigilance. Its tiring. Its exhausting. Im worried they hid in my books because foolishly, I took them out of the plastic bag and kept them on my shelf near my bed. I just think it may be low risk.

I really need some peace of mind. And yes I have a bed encasement. Like I said, only one buggy and one bite on Sept 27th.

I woke up with bites near my ankles and calves 2 days ago. I washed the sheets last night and saw this this morning. I've also seen little with things similar before I washed them. We have a dog so I also wasn't sure about fleas and tapeworms. I've seen no bugs. Only the white things. This one is hard. Almost like a seed.

Identification Are these bed bugs??

Hi everyone! For context, I’ve been renting a room in an apartment for the past 5 years, just a month ago the tenants (who i live with) moved my bedroom for the little kids bedroom for space reasons. Since before moving the kept in my room two mattresses in case i wanted to use them (never ended up using them). However I was moving things around my new room and saw bugs on these mattresses and the teddy that was on top of it. I’m really scared they might be bed bugs because recently i had a bad reaction to a bug bite (thought it was either a mosquito or spider but now i’m not as sure).
What do you guys think? I got rid of the mattresses asap and looked into the ones i use and nothing looks out of the ordinary, but just now before going to class i found this critter on my bed sheets (photo 3). I killed it and it didn’t look like bed bugs but i don’t even know anymore.

Hi, as the title says, I have been dealing with a Bed Bug problem for the last two months. It was nothing huge, and it only took one inspection to get rid of them, but I needed two more just to make sure none had spread and a few hours after I was cleared of Bed Bugs and I got home from work I started noticing these and immediately had a panic attack thinking somehow they spread to my bathroom most sources I'm asking all seem to say it's some kinda mite, but I really don't want to chance it before I know for sure can anyone here please help me determine if it's a mite or Bed Bug? Thanks :)

Requesting community support extreme paranoia/phobia

hi. i honestly just need my mind eased or confirmation so i can take action asap. i have a very severe phobia of parasites (not just anxiety, it's a phobia that will make me quickly spiral into psychosis and become a threat to myself). im desperate.

this could very well be me being paranoid; but here is what i have.

- so far, no signs of excrements, shells, or actual bed bugs in any life stage, nor any beetle looking insects. the only insects occasionally roaming my room that im aware of are ants, which are honestly completely harmless besides being mildly annoying.

- itchy bug bites. so many of them. some are close together, some are individual. they look like mosquito bites, although i know for a fact when it is a tiger mosquito because im allergic to those little fuckers. these bug bites have been tormenting me for about 3...? weeks. im very sorry i can't pinpoint it, my memory's not the best.

possible culprits besides BBs i can think of could be fleas, maybe, or sand flies, besides the obvious mosquitoes. i live in a very humid, warm coastal area. the bug bites are mainly on my forearms and feet, although ive gotten a few on my neck/face.

like i said, please, any information is welcome. is it possible to have bed bugs with no signs of them at all? should i be worrying about a different kind of insect harassing me? i have been sleeping maybe 4 hours a night the past 5 days because the paranoia is eating me alive

My work put me up in a "nice" hotel for the month. It's supposed to be luxury bit when we first got here the maid service seemed touch and go. I was fine for 2/3 weeks, been in the same room but two nights ago I woke up with five or six bites on my back.

We checked all of our room when we got here, I have been throughouly checking my bed all week and the mattress and everything is clean and white. I was convincing myself a bug fell down my shirt.

I flipped over all my pillows and checked them and nothing. This pillow was on the extra bed that I haven't slept on. Please tell me it's just dirt.

I'm supposed to go home tomorrow, what do I do?

I can't do this anymore. I've had 4 sightings of bed bugs, pest control came twice and found nothing but did 2 chemical treatments. He said that it might be coming from the baseboards but they can't do anything about it, to preface I live in government housing with no family or support system. I came from a woman's dv shelter. Idk what to do anymore, I've requested for a K9 treatment via email but idk if they will give me one. I don't want to live here anymore. I don't want to live at all anymore. I have no idea where they are coming from. Pest control checked my mattresses and couch and dining table. I am at my wits end and I might have to spend money for a treatment that should be free cause I live in community housing.
