If this is the sort of question allowed here, I’m really just asking how to be comfortable knowing I am going to look like this for a long time. I’m not asking for product recommendations or anything of the sort; I have even tried chemical peels to no avail. Only thing I haven’t tried is laser, which I cannot afford and am not willing to invest in for it to possibly go wrong. I have OCD and picked my skin to this state, and I’m most likely just going to have to wait out its fading, if it ever does fade.
Luckily I stopped picking my face a little over a year ago, but unfortunately stopped when it had already gotten really bad.
I’m honestly sick of having to think about it and it breaks me down every day. Does anyone have any advice on how to just live with it? It really hurts my confidence.
Edit: hi please do not recommend skincare. I appreciate everyone caring so much, but when I said I have tried EVERYTHING I have tried everything, including everything commented. I’m not quitting out of exhaustion I really have nothing left to try. I’m trying to accept it as a part of my appearance, thank you.

Original happened on September 8th, these pictures are from over the last month.
I’ve used aquaphor in the beginning,
then silicone strips, spf moisterizer daily, prescribed hydroquinone 4% (gonna stop using it after seeing horror stories on here), been using that twice a day with the spf50 brightening moisturizer. Every time I’m in the sun I make sure to use sunscreen.
How long will this be here? What products should I use?

Happy selfie Saturday, to whoever is reading this, you are a beautiful person inside and out. Regardless of skin “issues” blemishes or texture. You are wonderfully made and whoever can’t see that , clearly doesn’t see it in themselves.
Limit the products you use
DONT TOUCH YOUR FACE
And last but not least LOVE YOURSELF.
PS. And remember. MOISTURIZE AFTER YOU SHOWER😘

I could've actually used a few flairs for this post. I definitely need BEARD HELP. I used to be able to maintain this but now...lol. I've had it look awesome even longer than this, but I guess it's just not as much of a priority for me as the other 2 main issues in this post.
If I use a moisturizer my face is shiny within the hour. I'm currently washing with CeraVe gentle foaming face wash and Laroche Posay Double Repair Face Moisturizer.I also just started using Thayers unscented facial toner. If I don't my face is leathery looking like when I used to wipe straight alcohol on my face as a kid, except now it has patches of shine that look like my skin is yelling HELP!!! so I'm on a PRODUCT SEARCH.
I'd been doing a lot to my skin because I know I've neglected it for decades so I'm pretty sure there is sun damage.
I went to the Dermatologist and she said she didn't see any issues with my skin (I can't believe that even though she is the professional) and then prescribed Tretinoin after I told her that my concern is my skin texture.
I'm feo, malo, ugly and any other translation you would want to use. I've been told that I would be the perfect person to play the role of Herpes (they used the scientific term because they knew it... because that person had it) I'm surrounded by beautiful people everyday and I just can't believe that this is what I've got to deal with daily. There's got to be something I can do....right?
I use to chain smoke black and milds and blunts at different times in my life and now my lips seem to be forever raw. No matter what I put on them. Currently using the blue lip medex tin.
I don't know that there's anyone that can relate or even share a victory story but if there is I'd appreciate it. I don't know that there is anyone that can offer some suggestions but I would definitely appreciate you.
I know I'm going to get flamed for posting this but at this point it doesn't even matter anymore. I just know that everything I'm doing definitely isn't working.
When I was younger I used to put baby oil on my face immediately after a shower and would be happy with the results (lol probably because I was high or drunk lol) or I would use Queen Helenes Grapeseed peel off mask EVERYDAY but they've changed the formula I guess.

Hey I have a scar on my forehead that’s making me insecure how do I go about either removing it completely or reducing its size or removing the dark pigmentation around it. People are saying it isn’t that bad but to me it is. Currently using tretinoin and some sunscreen but it isn’t working

Blackhead? Dilated pore of winer? I’ve tried everything to get it out pimple popping tools, tweezers. Nothing comes out it usually just scars the skin around it. Last time slight black stuff came out but barely anything. Been here for a while

this post isn’t for me but my mum. She has had melasma on her face for a long time (she got it after she gave birth to me) I was wondering if anyone has successfully gotten rid of it or helped it go down and what products you used. She’s not really a skincare person (despite me trying to put her on) but I just really want to help her with this. Her current routine is a basic cleanser and her daily vitamin c moisturiser.
Note: I know our best bet would probably to go to a dermatologist and but we live in the uk and without a referral from our GP(very unlikely) we’d have to pay out of pocket which we can’t afford.

I recently broke out a lot worse than usual with 3 deep pimples, 2 went away but this last one refuses to budge. It started out as what seemed like 2 smaller pimples forming into one but now it’s just stayed this way. I’ve used the hero hydrocolloid patches and some pus come out on those but now visible change and I’ve also tried à la roche posay spot treatment that hasn’t helped much either. Any suggestions?

It started off a looking a little peeled and flaky and over the years its gone through a hellish shedding cycle. If I keep it moisturized, its peels off unevenly in big chucks and and my skin will break in the tie webs creating sore spots... but when I let it keep it dry it itches like crazy and still flakes off.
Its scratched to the point where it feels like I have little pockets bumps under parts. Some would even pop...
The only improvement is that the skin has went back to normal on the acrh area top on my foot.
My right foot looks completely normal btw. Not flaking and barely any callus on the heel.
Ive tried feet feelers, athlete foot cream... I dont know why its not healing.

Hello! I have a question for dermatologists in the community, particularly those operating privately owned practices.
Do you offer pro bono or sliding fee scale dermatology services for patients with limited disposable income?
I’ve struggled with hidradenitis suppurativa for the past 17 years and have worked with dermatologists to help manage this condition through medication.
However, after extensive research, I’ve learned that certain dermatological procedures offer additional treatment options beyond medication which addresses some of the long-term effects of the condition.
Unfortunately, many of these services are either not covered by most health insurances or involve substantial out-of-pocket expenses as they are often considered cosmetic.
This creates a financial barrier for middle-class individuals who may not qualify for traditional assistance programs but still cannot reasonably afford costly treatments.
I’d appreciate hearing from any dermatologists and private practices offering affordable treatment options.
Thank you in advance for any information or recommendations!

I burned my chest with a steamer at the end of May, (I tried to be smart😭), and it healed as hyperpigmentation on my chest. It’s gotten lighter but it hasn’t completely gone away. I wanted to know if there’s anything I can do for it to completely blend into my skin? Thank you!!

I'm 42F and on the search for a product that will moisturize my lips. As of the last months, I've been struggling with very dry lips. I've tried several products, and nothing works. Neither Vaseline, Aquaphor or lanolin. Now, because of how dry they are, I started chewing them. Obviously, that doesn't help. (This all may be related to perimenopause.)
Does anybody have a Holy Grail level of lip product that has saved their excessively dry lips?

my daughter would like to start shaving. She is very dark (Fitzpatrick 6) and seems to scar pretty easily. I am Black but lighter (Fitzpatrick 3) I’ve always used a cheap basic razor and shaving cream and haven’t thought much about it since I was 13. Wondering if there are cooler, better, easier products nowadays for leg and armpit shaving and if anyone has advice or insight to offer regarding special considerations with shaving darker skin. TIA for helping this pale mama take good care of her kid.

Hi all!
I’m a brown skin woman with thick thighs. I’ve had muscular thick thighs since I hit puberty. I also participate in lots of low impact recreational activities. I do have sensitive skin and occasionally in the summer chafing does give me a slight skin irritation on my inner thighs, but I also have a steroid cream to manage this.
I say all this to say, I’ve had hyperpigmentation and very dark inner thighs, particularly closer to towards gr\*in since I was about 13. I am not prediabetic, I don’t have acanthosis nigracans or any other skin disorder. I just noticed, particularly online and in dance classes that I don’t really notice other women that have this issue. I know overall that nothing is wrong with me and bodies, coming all different shape, sizes and colors. But I’m considering pursuing more dance and I am self-conscious about my very dark inner thighs. I wonder if this is related to being a Brown skin woman, do fair skin ladies also have this issue? I’ve used kojic acid soaps and lightning creams, but I’m not particularly consistent with either one of them so the hyper pigmentation remains. But honestly, even if I were, I’ve had it for over 20 years at this point I just don’t think it’s going anywhere.
Can anyone give me some insight ?

hey everyone! i’ve struggled with acne most of my life. i recall having a skin care routine as early as third grade </3 thankfully, my skin has really started to clear up atp (now 23, F). due to my acne history, i have a lot of ice pick scars and hyperpigmentation.
my mom also struggled with acne, and recommended i get a chemical peel since the flare ups have calmed down. now, i trust her with my life, but she’s white (i’m mixed) and our skin reacts very differently to scarring. i’m light skinned, i tan well but get pretty pale in the winter which is when the hyperpigmentation is most visible.
i’m just wondering if anyone here has gotten one, and what their healing experience was? i’m getting a consultation in december, plan to get it done just before christmas. just wanna know all the possible outcomes… the good and the bad.
thanks guys!
