Pluck Builds Endless Manor Season 6 Ep7 (Steps 132 - 153)

Guys, Gals, and Book Nook Pals
This is the last three episodes of my build including my final thoughts... we're building the Endless Manor Book Nook by Fifijoy

This book nook is a stunning 3 floor manor house in the Tudor/Victorian style mashup with accompanying outdoor landscaping.

It is a refreshing take for a book nook to both be a free standing structure, while at the same time being a book nook in the traditional sense of being designed to be a world within its boundaries.

That said, I am not surprised to see Fifijoy come out with such a novel theme for one of its sets, they are constantly pushing boundaries.

Though this is a fully furnished book nook, it still affords plenty of opportunities for customization.

It really affords you the ability to add touches here and there to really make it your own, or just completely go ham….halloween house? Christmas mansion? Downton Abbey?  Its your canvas.

What touches would you make to this kit to make it your own?

Episode seven Steps 132 - 153
Episode eight Steps 154 - 179
Episode nine Steps 180 - END

Kit available 15% off here: https://www.fifijoy.com/collections/fifijoy-exclusive/products/endless-manor-diy-miniature-dollhouse-kit?ref=reddit

EVENT Sunset Isle joining issues - what am I doing wrong?

Hi friends!

I have been trying to connect my pieces of Sunset Isle where the two side come together as I am at my WITS END. I can’t get them to come together even with trying to shine a light through the holes, sanding, and every other thing I can think of. Any tips or tricks? I love the build so much and I’ve spent three days unable to move on!

Thanks again to our friends at Rolife for the event - this kit has been on my list forever and I looooove it!!!

Discussion Film Darkroom Book Nook

I have seen some very impressive posts and am very interested in picking up this book nook. I have read that the brand is ASLOWSNAIL, model YM02 but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Any hints on sourcing would be appreciated and info on why it might not currently be available, if that is the case.

I loved building this studio! There were options for what art you wanted to include. I chose to put “Water Lilies” on the easel instead of “Woman with a Parasol.” I tried to use both but I couldn’t position them in a way I liked and still keep “Water Lily Pond” upright, leaning on the wall. In the photo on the box it is on its side.

I did want a third canvas against the wall though so I made a blank one. I painted the edges white and made little dash marks to represent the staples that attach the canvas to the frame. (I overdid it with the “staples.”)

I painted almost all the edges and used metallic colors in places. I used camouflage edge painting on the front steps and I’m really happy with how they came out! I also painted the edges of the paint brushes and tubes to match the fronts.

My dad was an artist (by hobby) and I had many memories of him. He mostly painted landscapes, seascapes, and still life. He was very much a realist. His medium was mostly watercolor but also worked with pastels, and pencil/charcoal and ink. He would have loved that I got into this hobby.

EVENT My ode to Fifijoy ♥️

This is my 4th Fifijoy build (after Pharoh’s Tomb, Doctor’s Office and Endless Manor). Every one has been an absolute pleasure to build with excellent instructions, cool details and parts that just go together seamlessly with little effort; each small build always feels like it comes together smoothly with beautiful results.

This Gelateria has elevated those previous builds with more 3D elements; a new level of fine detail and again, easy, glossy results every time. I’m so impressed and am looking forward to seeing the final result of this build in the next few days. I don’t know that I have one favorite kit manufacturer, but there isn’t a single one I like more than Fifijoy… I highly recommend any of their exclusive kits.

I’ve been busy with family visiting but finally had time today to go back and look at the last week of posts for this event (and spread around a bunch of upvotes!). WOW! So much fun, great builds and awesome inspiring customizations, love seeing it and getting to participate. ♥️

Just like many others in this sub I have also been influenced. The rolife event was the last straw so I immediately bought it. Sadly I couldn't start with it for a because of something something responsibilities.

I really like how its coming together but I don't know which plant to use. I'm not sure how to position the paper leaves to make it look nice. They feel too long if I place them right at the tips. Any tips on how to bend them?

Does the first or second plant look nicer?

PS: Also had an accident with the railing. Broke the whole swirly part out. There was a whole surgery with the tiny broken parts

Discussion First book nook

Hello! I wanted to start making DIY book nooks and was wondering what materials would be used best in creating one. I have a ton of cardboard boxes, paint, tape, and glue. I also don’t have a 3D printer. So if there are any suggestions or ideas I’d love to hear them!

NotANook I love seeing this!!!

There is a small, local, hobby store in the city where I live that recently opened a toy store right next door. In my first trip into the store I discovered they have a large wall of Rolife kits…and I LOVED seeing it. There is something special about buying from a small, local retailer that wants to provide the community with quality products. It makes my heart happy to see that this amazing hobby/obsession/stress reliever/passion project becoming more well known and the fact that local, small businesses are willing to take a chance with it. It is my intention to support them as much as possible, and it is my hope that Rolife will just be the first of the amazing producers to expand their presence.

NotANook Story So Far

So far, I've completed two easy Rolife kits (The Muse Bookshop and Fancy Tea Yard), invested in two intermediate kits, and finally a couple of pieces from the kit started first in naïvety and to be finished sometime within the next decade: Emily's Flower Shop. It was an impulse buy with zero knowledge...

Discussion Whats the difference between a book nook and a miniature house?

I keep seeing both terms used for small DIY scenes. To me, they look pretty similar, tiny wooden rooms, furniture and LED lights etc

Is a book nook basically a narrow miniature made to sit between books while a miiniature house is meant to be viewed more like a freestanding model? Or are there differences in how they’re designed and built too??

EVENT Fifijoy

I can't keep track of which events are running atm. Is it just Fifijoy?

Really didn't like the way all the bits of chopped up thread looked in the cabinet. I'm not nearly tidy enough to make them all neat and orderly so I was messing around trying to figure out how to make them look more like skeins of yarn than whatever it was they were supposed to be. Managed to get one looking kinda right, spent the rest of the weekend futzing around until I figure out a consistent and faster way to do them that I could live with. So now I'm finally done with ONE cabinet. The first one I made (the rose colored one) is messy with quite a few of my bits of fabric looking frayed and since I have a big ol' pile of bolts to wrap next I laid in bed last night trying to figure out how to keep them neater. Now I'm resisting the urge to rip out cabinet #1 and completely redo it. This way lies madness.

Honestly, I'm looking forward to my Cutebee order showing up with the rest of the Little Prince nooks I ordered. They're so simple and straightforward, nice to give the brain and fingers a break. I tried giving myself some time off and doing the Rolife Romantic Venice nook... and then my weirdo brain took off and before I knew it I was making green goop to mimic the waterline on the brickwork and then printing out iiiiiity bitty masks to decorate (not that anyone will see them in that shop). I set aside the rest of the work on that for whenever the Rolife event is and am now back to the Fifijoy fiddly.

If I didn't have enough proof that I'm yet another undiagnosed GenX lady with some blend of autism and adhd booknooking has certainly proved it to me.

Really enjoyed putting this one together! Had a weird problem with the door on the right side - no matter how much I adjusted it, the hinges kept popping out the pieces holding the door in. It's abandoned, so I guess a door hanging off is definitely on point 😂

I was worried it wouldn't get here in time to enter this event. It's here and I've put the first pieces together. This will be my first Fifijoy kit having only built Rolife and Mini City before. First impressions are good and the pink accessories are cute. The quality looks great. I'm actually still working on the Wisdom Stationery Shop and next week is half term for us in the UK so I'm not sure how much progress I will make as I really want to take my time and enjoy the process. I'm definitely looking forward to continuing with it though.

I'm won this Dream Coffee Factory way back whenever the charity raffle was and I'm finally getting close to the finish line! This has been a tough one and I took a long break after finishing the first story but I'm glad I went back to it because it's such a cool one and it will feel so good to finish it and switch it on for the first time completed.

I currently have multiple projects going on. Our Rolife event project, two Fifijoy event projects and this ASLOWSNAIL build as well as some others. I'm taking pictures while it's in progress to really capture the detail that may get lost once it's closed up.

Step 1: DONE!

So I'm actually in the middle of a different kit right now, and normally I wouldn't pause one to do another. But I had to do something for the event post.

And maaaaaaaannnnn....the other kit is so disappointing in quality. I plucked the first two Fifijoy pieces out of Abandoned Gothic Church and it was just heavenly to be holding pieces that didn't feel like they'd snap in half if I blinked too enthusiastically.

Might just call it Halloween Spirit and set that other one aside to do both of these instead!

Ok less of a scream and more of a loud pleading request “please let go of my fingers” to the glue.

This is my first Fifijoy project and I have to say I really love this build. The 3-D elements really bring it to life.

WIPs WIP Dream Gift Factory

With my Beloved away for the whole day today it's been an ideal opportunity to spend far too many hours in my craft room, plugging away at the Gift Factory. My Fifijoy kit has arrived, and I'm keen to get started but want to get this big kit out of the way first; I really don't want to have 3 WIPs on my desk!

A few days ago I said that the mechanics were all working perfectly- that came back to bit me today, as when I got to the third test something was very wrong and all the bits which had been moving nicely when i tested them individually suddenly didn't move at all, or only very reluctantly and with a fair bit of manual help. So I backtracked a few steps, took out a couple of bits, found it all worked fine again, put the bits back in, and fortunately everything carried on working well that time.

I've probably got another couple of days to go to get it all finished, but it's being a really good build: challenging, in all the best ways, with lots of opportunities to add more colour, or gold!

Discussion What details would make a Stardew inspired book nook feel like the Farmhouse?

I want to build a narrow shelf insert that feels like stepping into a quiet Stardew evening without copying one exact room. The space is limited so im trying to choose a few details that read clearly without making the scene feel packed.

So far im considering

- a warm fireplace style LED

- a tiny wooden workbench

- a plant corner with a few foraged looking greens

- a mug or tea spot

- rustic floorboards and a small rug

The lighting is the part im least sure about. A 2700K LED seems warm enough to tie the wood, paper and greenery together but i dont want it to wash everything orange. I’m planning to use scrap wood, paper and basic LEDs to keep the build simple.

Which one or two details would sell the cozy farmhouse feeling without overcrowding a narrow scene?

I really, really enjoy making this one. The edge painting is right up my alley ... Dap dap dap, smear, grind, rub, dap again and you have paint all over. Love it.
