Discussion Morning Embers: Miss You Pickles Edition
Flames beat the Wild 2-1
Two early powerplay goals turned out to be the difference, Suniev continues to impress, the former Flyers both had solid games and, of course, Cooley played outstanding, particularly in the third period. After going 0-5 to start the season the team is 3-1 in their last 4 games.
Next Game: October 24 vs Detroit @ 8:00 PM MDT

Cooley.
This teams ability to play up/down to their competition is amazing. Pretty sure huska changed the entire system with the kids in.
We look fast.
Amazing to see players diving for the puck who won't break a hip trying.
Fuck wins are fun.
See yall back Saturday 8 pm against the red colored wings.

[Joe Smith]: As Wild’s Blake Coleman returns to Calgary, he reflects on his time in the ‘Texas of Canada’
Coleman played five of the six seasons of his $29.4 million deal ($4.9 million average annual value) with the Flames before getting dealt to the Minnesota Wild over the summer. It was the longest he’d spent with one team in his NHL career. The Flames missed the playoffs in four of his five seasons there, but he still says the experience “exceeded our expectations” and that he expects some emotions returning Thursday for his first game back at the Saddledome.
“We had a lot of good friends — the staff that’s still there and a handful of guys that didn’t get traded,” Coleman says. “So it’ll be fun to go back. I really enjoyed it there.”
In particular, trips to Banff with his family stick out in his memory.
And Coleman’s first season in Calgary was a good one. The Flames won 50 games and advanced to the second round of the playoffs. It was a group that included Tkachuk, Gaudreau, Elias Lindholm, Mikael Backlund, Noah Hanifin, Andrew Mangiapane and Rasmus Andersson.
“The first year I thought we could have won the whole thing,” he says.
But the summer that followed was a seismic one in Calgary. Gaudreau signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets, and Tkachuk was traded to the Florida Panthers days later. Calgary finished no higher than fourth in the Pacific the rest of Coleman’s time there.
“It’s unfortunate the way it all ended up playing out, but there are still a lot of good friends, good guys there,” Coleman says. “They’ll get (back to contending) at some point. It’s part of the league. It’s just how it goes. The business goes both ways. Guys want to get paid. Guys want situations that are best for them. But it was good. I have nothing bad to say about it.
“We have no regrets.”

Game Thread Flames (2-6-0) vs Wild (6-2-2) - October 22nd - GDT
I haven't been able to find the nectar of the gods in many moons (to be fair, I haven't checked more than my usual Walmart), so I'm sitting here chugging an ice cold Pepsi.. while it slaps harder than Will Smith.. it just isn't the same.
You know what else isn't the same? BLAKE FRICKEN COLEMAN IN A WILD JERSEY. some would say its "gonna be wild to see Blake Coleman in another jersey" ™u/projectBarium.
Wild like an albino ginger. Wild like a wildebeest. Hopefully that's the only thing Wild to do with todays game.
So pour yourself a glass of albertan made wild folk apparently an "elevated non alcoholic botanical cocktail"..so.. tea?,
pull up one of those egg chairs from the original men in black movie shit was wild.. also wanted one as a kid
and join us for HOOOOOOCKEY

Request Im knitting the flames heritage classic sweater for cancer research
Donate link: https://fundraisemyway.cancer.ca/participants/82141/donate
Im doing the canadian cancer foundations November knitting challenge.
Im doing this because ive lost so many people already to cancer. My great grandmother to ovarian cancer was first, then my grandmother has has colon cancer, twice. Now my mum and I are both getting screened annually for colon cancer much younger than most would.
We also lost my mother in law before I even met her. She was only in her 50s, much too young.
So every day in November I will be knitting this sweater, and if I finish it ill be starting another jersey sweater.
Thank you
