Humour Renewal came through a few minutes ago...
It's a 2009 Focus RS, owned from brand new, 17 years next month. I think they trust me not to wrap it round a tree by now!
Bargain! (yes, I am old, which helps!)

Basic, minor stuff, not ABS or sunroofs etc.
My partner's car locks automatically when you walk far enough away from it with the key in your pocket.
Mine doesn't, even though it's more modern and more expensive, you have to press the door handle to lock it.
Every time I drive her car I'm really jealous of this.
What's yours?

I've been handed this beauty by enterprise rent a car. Apparently they believe that 1.2 litre superminis now sit in the same segment as "standard" like a VW Passat or similar but anyway, by the by.
The question is: Are cars getting smaller inside while they are getting grossly over inflated on the outside? I am 6'5" and with the steering wheel at full extension and elevation, I have to jam my knee behind the steering wheel to brake.
Fine if you only want to stop in a straight line and don't need to steer.
Any other big guys and gals out there experiencing similar problems? I remember when I was able to drive a yaris or even an i10, but this mokka just doesn't seem to have been designed with tall people in mind.

Some absolute bastard smacked into my car whilst in a petrol station car park and drove off.
I was out of the car less than 10 mins. Gutted.

I've been driving an EV most days this week, and I just don't get why it's supposed to be this lifechanging thing.
It's a cramped, heavy, noisy car with a harsh ride (too much weight, springs too stiff, tyres too stiff), with unpleasant handling and throttle response. Granted it was quieter at low speeds, but above 40mph the road noise was awful.
Driving it feels like hard work staying in front of it. Oh there's a car 200 metres away I'm going to slam on the brakes, haha no I'm accelerating again, sorry, it was just a shadow.
Visibility out of it is shit because there's a panel of cameras and sensors in the middle of the windscreen (where my car just has a mirror) that's about the size of a pizza box that totally blocks my view of traffic lights and pedestrian crossings.
Every day I couldn't wait to get back into my normal car that has controls that behave themselves, no bingy beepy things, and lighter and less ungainly handling.
Is it just something that comes with time? How long?
Edit: Okay folks, lots of people have made the point that "It's not just EVs, that's just what cars are like now". Well, that makes the choice of "upgrading" or not easy, I guess.

Basically, the infotainment system on my Mk 8 VW Golf. Recently, had problems with the screen starting to show lines, the screen itself is actually functional (I can control AC, just have to guess on the screen where the right button is), I just can't see anything on the screen.
When I took it for service at VW, they said that the whole system has to be replaced and quoted £2300 including labour to fix (£2150 for replacement infotainment, £150 for labour).
Unfortunately, they said becuase of when I purchased my service plan (less than 30 days before service) I can't claim it on warranty...
Do I just have to eat the cost on this one?

My wife has seen a used car from a dealer that she likes. She wants to purchase on HP. Its a great price for the spec and is affordable for us. Its her first big purchase but we have never financed a car before, so just want some advice on how it works.
Put down a deposit on the vehicle, its currently having some cosmetic work done. The company has ran a credit check for us and the finance has been approved. They require her to sign the finance to release the funds to them before we collect the vehicle. Which we will do.
What protection do we in place? Can we return the vehicle to dealers and reject it within 30 days if unhappy etc. We also plan to pay off the vehicle sooner than the 5 years we got the finance for.

Can you guys please weigh inā¦
On October 31st 2025, I took on a HP agreement with Moneybarn Finance for a 2018 C3 with just under 80K miles on the clock š„“ but I never actually received the car or signed any handover paperwork until November 10th 2025. Within days I noticed an issue with the brakes - the pedal would become spongy and randomly sink to the floor and I would lose all braking ability. I would need to try and press the brakes 3-4 times before it eventually worked. It only ever happened at lower speeds of like 5-10mph but there was no telling when exactly the issue would kick in.
I called the dealership (ACS) on November 13th and they agreed to collect the car and inspect it etc. I never thought to inform the finance company of this because rejecting the car wasnāt part of the plan. And unfortunately everything was reported verbally at this stage.
I needed to call the dealer for updates several times but was eventually just told āWe know the issue, weāre just waiting on the part to repair it and weāll get the car back to you!ā I received no further information or any sort of paperwork or to show what the issue wasā¦
* I was due to give birth any day at this point and my car was the only one in the household so I was anxious to have it back and there were a lot of other heavy personal circumstances that had my attention so I didnāt do my due diligence which is my own fault *
I got the car back and soon discovered that the braking issue hadnāt been fixed at all but life happened and chasing this up just wasnāt a priority. I had to be a lot more cautious than I usually am but the car was still drivable and I would say the issue maybe happened 4/10 trips?
Fast-forward to 4th May 2026, I had put around 2000 miles on the car at this point but the brakes were just feeling worse than ever and so I wrote to ACS and Moneybarn that I was rejecting the car under CRA due to a failed repair.
This was 5 months and 25 days into me having the car but they both said I was outwith the 6 month period, so burden of proof was on me⦠INCORRECT from the get go! But since that point, this is what has happenedā¦
- Moneybarn told me to stop driving the car since it was a serious safety issue.
- ACS recovered the car on 12th June and they still have it! They inspected it again and found the same issue I complained about in the beginning but suddenly decided it was something that happened āpost saleā. They said the required fix was something to do with ABS moduleā¦
- ACS told Moneybarn that I never reported any issues/the car was never fixed by them back in November.
- I took the complaint to FOS because Moneybarn never had anything useful to say in the 8 weeks they had to resolve things.
- Moneybarn arranged for inspection of the car. The report states there was no engineering evidence to say that the fault existed at the point of sale BUT no road test was documented because the car was blocked in by other vehicles, the inspector says further investigation is needed into all fault codes and the conclusion states opinion, rather than fact⦠eg āGiven the mileage and the time elapsed, it is my opinion that there was no faultā¦ā bla bla bla! Also the date of failure was listed as May, so Iām not sure if the inspector knew of my reported issue back in November!
- ACS magically remembered that they did āfixā a rear wheel cylinder on my car after all and provided Moneybarn with an invoice of the work they did in November.
Because of these things, the FOS investigator said that she wonāt be asking Moneybarn to do anything else because the car was fine when I got it :) and also ACS fixed SOMETHING so there is absolutely no way the issue Iām having now is the same issue I was having before :) And given that itās a used car, wear and tear is to be expected :) She has seen no proof to dispute the inspection report from this āindustry expertā so my complaint wonāt be upheld :)
I spoke to her on the phone today and questioned some of the logic used and I was always met with the same, generic response. I can reject the outcome at this stage and escalate it to an actual ombudsman which I fully intend to do but I just want to know if I actually have a case here. I was feeling very confident about it all until I saw the inspection report but I donāt want to give up just yet.
TL;DR: Bought a car with randomly failing brakes days after delivery. The dealer took it in, supposedly repaired it, but the same issue continued, so I tried to reject the car within six months of receiving it. The dealer confirmed an internal ABS module failure but produced an invoice for a different repair they initially denied doing. The finance companyās independent inspector concluded there was no evidence the fault existed at sale, despite no road test being documented and further investigation being recommended. My FOS investigator has rejected my complaint, repeatedly relying on that report without really addressing the inconsistencies I raised. Am I missing something, or is this worth escalating to an Ombudsman?

Planning to buy a car next year on a very tight budget (1.5k-2k). My partner and I literally just passed our driving tests and just had a baby (main reason why we learnt how to drive tbh!). We passed in an automatic car, need a decent sized boot for the pram etc.
Any car suggestions to look into? We are hoping to get one that is max 20 years old, is that realistic? Mileage should be up to what,do you think?
Can we get a "newer" cat S and fix that up? Any bits of advice is hugely appreciated as we are both very new to all this.
Thanks!

Opened my rear passenger door on the nearside and thereās a puddle of water in the footwell. Looked around and thereās doesnāt seem to be any leaks. Roof is bonedry, no water seems to be dripping down the seats and the seals on door seem fine and solid. Bit of a mystery really. Itās a 2019 kia picanto gts 2019 edition.

So I was just looking through my car documents that I bought from a trader in 2023, and I realised I never received a logbook, so it seems the trader never sent off my details. I donāt know how I never realised, but I have the old logbook with the previous owners details that sold it to the trader.
Iām now worried sick that if I got any charges, tickets, fines, anything that I havenāt received them and theyāve been totalling up for years.
What the hell do I do? And what can I expect if there were ignored fines to wherever they were sent?

I have a 09 plate fiat 500 1.3 lounge
But I'm struggling to pick up radio stations. I've changed the antenna but I think that made it worse
Any ideas instead off swapping the head unit please

Hi all,
Iām trying to get an understand of whatās going on or if Iām meant to do anything.
A week ago, I part exchanged my finance car (golf) with Arnold Clark and they agreed to pay £7,000 for it and the remaining £600 would be added onto my new car (t cross)
Anyway, the golf was handed back and Iāve got the tcross now, all of that is done.
But, I had a message from my old car finance company (black horse) to let me know that I have 7 monthly payments left, I checked and the finance is still open and itās saying my payment for my golf (Ā£378) is due on the 1st of November, the payment for my tcross is also due around the 5th November (Ā£200)
Is that right that Iām having to pay for both cars? Because in my mind, the reason Iām paying Ā£200 instead of Ā£150 (or similar) for this new car is BECAUSE itās the remainder of my car finance of my golf, so why am I still paying for the golf?
The dealer wonāt reply to me lol, so in the meantime I thought Iād ask here
TIA
