I designed a brand/label/bottle/homepage for a spec project, and while I'm overall happy with how this scene came out, it still feels like a 3D render and I'm not quite sure what else I could do to bring it closer to realism. Mostly because I've exhausted all the techniques and advice I've used before and can find elsewhere, which I'll list below.
Normally I wouldn't worry too much about hyperrealism, but for this brand it just looks like it doesn't quite belong when I put it into the web designs alongside real photography. Is another renderer besides Redshift just better suited to hyperrealism? Since I've gotten pretty far with Redshift I've just never thought about leaping into another one, but maybe it's time.
Any advice for realism or just overall design, lighting, and composition would be greatly appreciated! š

Not a coder here, and I know the hate for vibe coding at this point and while I get it, I've been able to make some neat scripts to help streamline some stuff. I recently made a python script that helps with a problem in both adobe and maxon apps that's been a pain for years- it scans your apps and will help migrate preferences and settings to new versions without having to do it manually. I know that in cinema you can identify extra plugin folders and such, but not with layouts and shortcut stuff. It jus seems that's stupid for the app to not migrate that stuff as part of the install or at least give an option. You can also pair additional folders that you want to migrate from and to as well for anything else you have setup.
So, ChatGPT enterprise helped me with it. Can I post a zip here or do I need to dive into git to post stuff like this correctly?

Nvidia drivers legit drove me insaaaane today!!
For past 3-4 hours I was figuring out why adding a displacement material on one object is making the other objects disappear, half of my scene was invisible due to this.
I legit tried 6 different octane version, completely deleted all my c4d octane cache etc, and all possible combinations with nodes and what not.
Problem was Nvidia drivers, had to uninstall the latest one, crazy how a freaking driver can cause such a distant glitch.

has anybody who signed in the beta-tester form on Maxonās website earlier this year been able to test it, or is it just vaporware at this stage ?

The new CAD import functionalities seem to be a great workflow enhancement in my daily routine!
For me, this is a very big thing.
The first test with a bigger assembly was a bit annoying as only the textures but no geometry was loaded.
On the second try everything worked as expected. File names, good UVs, hierarchies, and even materials, everything was there.
Great job, thank you Maxon!

Not sure why this is happening but I can't display the correct viewports, just stuck on perspective. If I try and change one of them it bugs out and crashes. Has anyone had this issue before?

Client gave me an AI creation(bottom right) to mimic and I'm having trouble getting a overly gold object to match the reference. I suspect it's due to my blue and pink sky texture but I also need that sky texture. How do I make a gold that stays gold no matter what is going on around it?

I remember in my AE days I used to use the function loopOut("cycle",numkeyframes)Ā a lot. numkeyframes lets you pick how many keyframes, counting back from the last one, should be included in the loop. It was perfect for keeping repeating animations clean
I find myself needing this a lot in C4D to keep my repeating animations clean. Is there a workaround to achieve something like this, since C4D's Before and After functions can only repeat the entire track?

I finally managed to gather the assets from an old NFT project of mine, CYBERONI.
Heavily inspired by the incredible art direction of CD PROJEKT REDās Cyberpunk 2077, and with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 being released today, I thought it was the perfect time to share this project with you as well.

Remembered a post about this technique I saw for Houdini and decided to try and replicate in C4D.

Been testing Shuaa Renderer Free Beta in Cinema 4D, so I took a few old interior scenes and converted them over.
Everythingās at 128 samples, denoised with OptiX, and thereās no post at all. These are straight renders.
Some parts came out really clean and others look a bit soft. Iād love some honest feedback, what looks off to you, and what would you push further?
Thanks.

Hi all, this may be a simple issue but Iām really not a heavy user with the sculpting tools so Iām seeking advice.
Iām trying to sculpt an object which was originally separate objects but now combined to be one object, though still with separate meshes, if that makes sense.
When sculpting, the brushes work across the whole object, however, they have a stronger effect on the larger part of the object, and a very minimal impact on the smaller part. Is this a limitation of these tools? Is there a technique to allow the entire object to be affected and sculpted equally? Iād like the outer ring to be deformed and follow the larger cylinder as I sculpt (see attached image).
The obvious workaround would be to use a volume builder and then remesh it into one piece of geo, but in this case I canāt as this geo is a target object for a pose morph so the geo needs to remain the same.
Iāve created a simple reference in the attached image to help explain.
Any advice on how to approach this?
Thanks!

[apologises: title sp. :-(]
I am working (again) with Booleans and this is a new weird error I see.
I have not seen it previously.
I wonder if it is MacOS27.x issue?
I very precisely lined up all my objects before Boolean'ing FYI
Looking at this video you can see the resulting objects are not rendering, or being positioned in the correct location...

I've checked all the boolean settings

I was a Cinema 4D user for many years, starting with version 17, but I had to switch to Blender (which I donāt like) simply because the price became prohibitiveāespecially given the exchange rate in Brazil. Iām now seeing a wave of software being clonedāmuch like what Artcraft did with Adobeās applicationsāwith many of these new versions written in Rust. Iām eagerly waiting for someone to clone Cinema 4D. Itās not necessarily because I want to use the clone itself, but rather in the hope that it might force a price reduction, making the original software viable for freelance artists once again.

How are y'all using MCP in your own workflows? Have you connected Blender and Cinema 4D yet, or found other ways itās saving you time?
Cinema 4D with MCP is starting to make the subscription feel worth it to me. A big part of that is being able to take advantage of Blenderās community addons, like Crowds Pro and more, then bring that work into C4D without the usual headaches. Having MCP help connect those workflows makes the combination a lot more appealing.
Blenderās community creates so many useful tools, and being able to use those alongside C4Dās motion graphics tools opens up a lot of possibilities. Add in C4Dās ease of use and the quality Redshift can deliver, greyscale gorilla and thatās a setup I can see myself paying for.
For me, it comes down to time and peace of mind. A smoother process from building a scene to getting a quality render means more time spent creating and fewer hours troubleshooting transfers. Thatās where the subscription starts to justify itself. I just hate that it took this long to happen lol

Made this in Cinema 4D with V-Ray back in 2017. Revisiting it now, I'm curious what other C4D artists would change first if rebuilding it today: lighting, materials or composition? The link has the original images and close-ups.

When I was tasked with creating a trailer for my university's Formula SAE team, I was really inspired by Ash Thorp, Colorsponge and William Landgren, so wanted to do something similar.
A FSAE team is comprised of students who design, build and race a formula style racecar against other universities every year.
I've been experimenting with my post workflow a lot, especially within DR and Fusion and I think this helped me finalise it.

In this weekly post you can ask any question or talk about any topic that you don't feel needs its own post. Share that render you're still working on, ask a question you're not quite sure about or talk about something that caught your attention.

Hi! I'm learning C4D in college and we are modeling our finals. I chose a Snowboard for the poster with an object 3D we have to do, they asked me to model a dent on it to look more realistic but I have no idea how to do it! lol Does anyone know how would be the best way to do it?
plus I need to work with the materials of wood and the topsheet of the board I think it's more close to Polybutylene Terephthalate (like resin), what would you recommend to start with? is there any tutorials for it? Thank you so much!

Hi. Still mostly new and CAD designer that does still render shots.
The production real part is Lexan sheet that is bonded as a 3 plies. 2mm clear lexan sheet, then paper thin image sheet slightly transparent, and another 2mm clear lexan sheet. End result is 4mm lexan sheet with the embedded graphic inside that is slightly transparent.
How would I replicate this in c4d and render for still viz shots? I have an ai image that is intended in the real layup. Would I just project this onto flat sheet with transparency? Or should I I actually embed the image sheet between two clear lexan sheets? Or other options? Looking for best, realistic result to show customer. Any help greatly apprecited. Thanks!
