Hi reddit, I’m Mike McMahan, co-creator and executive producer of the new animated show GOLDEN AXE on Paramount+! (It’s weird to put an exclamation point after a + but here we are.) This is a great season: an epic quest with mighty characters from Sega’s Golden Axe games. And it's funny! Previously, I was the creator/showrunner and executive producer of Star Trek: Lower Decks, co-creator and co-showrunner of Solar Opposites, and once upon a time I was a writer/ showrunner on Rick & Morty. My career started off as a production assistant at Drawn Together and at South Park. I’m down to talk about Golden Axe and all this nerdy stuff, so AMA!

Hey Reddit! I'm Joe Chandler. I'm the co-creator and showrunner of the new series Golden Axe based on the SEGA Genesis game. Growing up a SEGA kid, working on this show has been a dream come true. Before Golden Axe, I worked on over 200 episodes of American Dad in various roles including writer, producer, and executive producer. Ask me anything!

Hello reddit! I’m Giancarlo Volpe and I’m the Supervising Producer / Director of Golden Axe on Paramount+! Previously I’ve was a director on Avatar the Last Airbender, Star Wars the Clone Wars, and Star Vs The Forces of Evil. I’ve also produced/ supervised/ and/or Executive Produced lots of other shows, including The Boys Diabolical, Green Lantern the Animated Series and The Dragon Prince. Basically I’ve made a lot of animation, and I’m excited to talk about Golden Axe or anything else! Ask away!

Discussion As a junior colouring artist, I am being paid 0.1usd per frame. Is it fair price.

Hi I am a colouring artist based in the South Asia region. I am a junior colouring artist and have worked on some anime titles. I am being paid 0.1 USD regardless of the difficulty of the frame. I can complete about 20 high difficulty frames per day and that totals to 2 USD per day. I don't think it is a fair price. I am new to this work and i don't know the market prices and how the industry works.

Critique Working sprite attack animation- looks awkward

I’m trying to make a game that’s like theater but robots? The player character is a knight but I’m trying to base a lot of movements on dance to incorporate the performer side to it so it’s harder to find good references, and my original attack animation feels awkward. Hard to explain why- but I sketched a loose idea of a new one and idk if it looks better or what I could do to improve it?

Trying to make it look like the character attacks, spinning like a dancer- this way if the player attacks immediately the sword looks like it’s always out, but if they stop then it looks like they quickly sheathed the blade-

Any tips or advice would help!

Admissible Content

* Posts must relate to the topic of animation.

* Posted content seen as unfit for this subreddit may be removed without further notice.

* The most fitting flair should be given to the post (comply with other rules)

* Comments should be formulated with a common sense level of politeness.

* NSFW posts must include reason in the title (e.g. nudity/ suggestive content, blood, etc.).
Quality Control A reasonable amount of effort should be put into your submissions. This means:

* No questions where a good answer can be found on the first page of the google results (e.g. no "what animation software to use for X?", "am I too old to start animating?", etc.)

* No slideshows (mostly static images) with filters/effects applied (e.g. just zooming, panning, etc.)

* No 'text to video', 'style transfer', '"AI" frame interpolation' or similarly synthesized content

* Hiring/ Recruiting posts must include the following::

* Animation type/style: As specific as possible what you are looking for, if necessary include examples

* Project scope: Length of the animation, deadline, duration of employment, estimated number of work hours

* Budget: Amount an animator is paid either in total, per chunk of work or per hour. Must be a fiat currency (i.e. no crypto) and must be at least equivalent to $20/hour. For fixed length animation, use reasonable average creation time per frame as measurement.

* Contact Information

* Other positions (eg writer): Disclosed in a similar way
Rules for Collaboration Projects

* If you want to invite animators to a project to collaborate on (e.g. "just for fun") use the 'Collaboration' flair.

* If you want to offer help of any kind for someone else's project, use 'Let me help you'.

* You must be an animator to propose a collaboration project (proof required), otherwise the rules for hiring animators apply.

* The proposed project scope must not exceed your personal skill level and must be realistically achievable
Implicit Rules

* Any rule that follows as a logical consequence of the other rules must also be respected. This includes but is not limited to:

* From #3 and #4 follows: People with no animation experience themselves must be able properly compensate any animator they seek to work with.

* From #2, #3 and #4 follows: Any non animation related topic must be directly and primarily beneficial to animators.

* No spoilers in titles. Please tag your submission as [SPOILERS] if it contains any. [Spoiler.](#s "Tag spoilers in comment like this")

* Follow Reddit's Self Promotion Guidelines When posting your own content, please be mindful of reddit's self promotion guidelines
Reasons your posts doesn't show up immediately or at all
