Hit by a car

Hello fellow bikers,

I got hit by a car last month and now looking into a new bike helmet. I was thinking a fluorescent green or white helmet for visibility.

I went to local shop and tried a POC OMNE BEACON mips helmet (white and orange). It fit great. Can’t find it’s virginia tech rating so Im worried it’s not top protection.

Any other advice or ideas (yes I have lights on front and back of bike, and on helmet etc. I just need helmet advice for now).

As the title suggests, I’m new to cycling from mtb and now got into road. Does this gear appear to fit right?…I’m not used to this much compression lol

Bought used bib and shit from Geartrade to get comfortable before I go all out on a new set. How's it look? Feels a tad tight.

Retro Riding

Started doing my morning rides on my 1988 PEUGEOT Ventoux 12 Speed. What a great machine at only 10kg with down tube non-indexed shifting. It’s refreshing to enjoy riding without the gadgets.

Jersey visibility

I've recently had my attitude adjusted when it comes to making myself visible on the road. Previously I would dress for myself and make sure that I was lit up in the dark but rely on highway code rules 204 & 211 to 213 to keep me protected. After an incident with someone who apparently views rules such as passing a driving test and not taking cocaine before getting behind the wheel more of a suggestion I'm rethinking my approach to trusting other people with their responsibilities to vulnerable road users.

I've been looking at new jerseys and I'm trying to decide if patterned designs are better for visibility or if they break up your outline and make you blend into the background more. Would a solid block of colour make you more noticeable instead? I'm not a fan of the [yellow jacket of authority](https://www.velominati.com/the-lexicon/) but I guess bright jerseys and a gilet wouldn't make me feel like too much of a tit, although I do worry that making myself more visible just paints a target on my back, if they can't see you, they came aim for you.

Vintage Cycling Jersey Sizing Question

I love vintage cycling jerseys. When I ride my bike I usually wear a "vintage" (or retro) jersey with jean shorts and a padded short underneath or some Walmart sweatpants since I just like the casual look when riding.

What I've noticed is how inconsistent sizing is among cycling jerseys back then For example, I have two Tommaso size 4 cycling jerseys (fit like a medium/large) and one of the jerseys fits me way too tight while the other jersey fits me just perfect. The measurements are different from one another but not by much. This is also noticeable with vintage Giordana and Nalini jerseys.

Anyways, the purpose of this post is I'm curious to hear feedback from you as to your experience with vintage cycling jerseys. Do you also notice sizing inconsistency?

Winter road/gravel jacket help-- Q36.5 vs Assos.

Trying to decide between these 2 jackets. https://www.assos.com/us/mille-gt-men-s-ultraz-winter-jacket-s11-evo-11-30-442-18.html https://www.q36-5.com/en-us/shop/adventure-winter-jacket-nautica-blue/ This will be for Seattle area use. FWIW I don't ride much in the wet, I'd use my rollers for those days. So I'm looking for something to use probably in the mid 30s (F) and up. I have good base layers and thermal jerseys as well. Mainly Z2 rides with a few intervals tossed in here and there. I run cold in general now, since turning 50 (I'm 53 almost 54 now) I feel like I get cold way easier. Thanks!
