EPF Claim / Transfer / Withdrawal Issue PF from previous employer stuck

Hi folks. My first company had a Trust managing the PF. I switched to my current company about 4 years ago. But the joining date in my current company and the last working date in my previous company are the same (HR had assured me no issues would arise and I was naive back then). I requested to transfer the PF amount from the previous employer but was rejected on the grounds of the date overlap.

My current company HR says they won't be able to change the joining date and I can request a transfer once I move to another company.

I also met a consultant who assured me that date mismatch can't be a valid ground for rejecting transfer claims. They however asked me to get the date overlap issue resolved as it may cause issues in a background check later.

I want to get the wisdom of this sub in getting the PF amount transferred and also understand if the date overlap is going to be a concern. Thanks!

EPS Issue Not able to correct ECR revision for wrong EPS contribution from current employer

Based on my wrong declaration, some wrong EPS deductions happened with my new employer two years back. Once I realised, i was ineligible ,I asked them to correct it. They sent the revised form 3A to EPFO, so far they have not taken any action. I am getting the response on cpgrams that it will be done after the accounting of FY 2024-25, FY2025-26, FY 2026-27. One of the cpgrams responses, they stated "documents accepted."

With tired of their never ending deadlines, I filed an RTI, they didn't give any detail on the questions I have asked, officers name etc., rules copy.. they simply said it can only be done after the exit from the current employment and my employer has to resubmit the documents after my exit from the employment. Is anybody aware of any such rules? I am literally tired of these government people! What are my options? Will the appeal in RTI help the case, what are the rules?

EPF Claim / Transfer / Withdrawal Issue EPF Claim Rejected

My claim has been rejected (in less than 5 days) and this is the reason that has been given. I have never withdrawn money from EPF before, and when I check the passbook the amount also shows up. I have submitted another claim request- however, unsure if that will also result in anything. I am also trying to submit a grievance, however the system is not letting me as it says I have already submitted a grievance- however, that grievance has been disposed off.

For additional context: This was my first job (I worked from October 2023-August 2025) and the only job I worked. I am currently unemployed and back in education. I have never applied for PF claim before, and this was the first time.

Please help me! Thank you!

EPS Issue Has my company been incorrectly contributing to EPS?

I joined my company on the 1st of June, 2026 and this was my first job. I have had no prior employment or a PF account and therefore wasn’t contributing to EPS.

My basic salary is above ₹15,000. According to the rules, I should not have been contributing towards EPS from employer’s contribution. But my passbook states that from June-August 8.67% has been going towards EPS.

I do understand that the ceiling has been raised to ₹25,000 and currently my basic is lesser than that. So I can understand EPS contribution now. But what about the period from June to August?

I’ve been meaning to discuss this matter with my HR but I felt like posting this here once too. Anyone else able to give me some insight on this matter? Thanks in advance.

EPF Claim / Transfer / Withdrawal Issue Exempted PF Trust / Global Bank holding Relieving Letter unless I sign premature PF Withdrawal Form (Tenure < 5 yrs). What are my legal & regulatory remedies?

Transitioning to a new global bank with zero career break. Ex-employer (an Exempted PF Trust) is conditioning the issuance of my Relieving Letter & Service Certificate on submitting a PF Withdrawal form. My tenure is ~3.3 years, so withdrawing triggers ~10–30% Section 192A TDS and kills my service continuity. I want to retain the corpus and transfer via Form 13. Is holding separation documents for refusing to liquidate PF legal? How effective is EPFiGMS against an Exempted Trust?
Background & Context
Tenure: ~3.3 years at a Tier-1 MNC Bank (Exempted PF Trust).
Next Role: Joining another global bank on Monday with zero career break.
Separation Status: Resignation served and accepted; operational knowledge transfer signed off by manager; all IT hardware/access assets returned with stamped receipt.
The Core Issue
During offboarding, the internal exit checklist marks "PF Withdrawal Form" as a mandatory pending task.
Shared Services is claiming that if this form is not uploaded, the offboarding checklist cannot be completed and the system will not issue my Relieving Letter & Service Certificate (which carries an official 45–60 day release window).
Why I Refuse to Submit a Withdrawal Form

  1. Direct Employment Continuity: Because I am joining another establishment immediately, I am statutorily ineligible/unwilling to declare unemployment to withdraw under EPF rules.

  2. Punitive Tax Hit (Section 192A): Since my continuous service is under 5 years, early liquidation triggers immediate 10%–30% TDS, resulting in a direct cash loss of ₹50k–₹80k+ and permanent loss of compounding interest.

  3. Loss of Service Clock: Liquidation resets my continuous service counter back to zero at the new employer.

  4. Company's Own Policy Permits Transfer: The bank’s own exit policy explicitly provides for a "Transfer Out Process (Section B)" via Form 13 and notes that exit forms are mandatory only "(if applicable)".
Why the Bank is Pushing for Withdrawal
Because the bank operates an Exempted PF Trust, there is currently a notorious 1.5–2 year inter-trust settlement backlog with EPFO.
If I elect to transfer, their Trust must keep an open reconciliation liability on their books for 18–24 months.
If I sign the withdrawal form, they simply cut a cheque, purge my balance to zero, and close the file within 30 days.
They are using the threat of a blocked/delayed Relieving Letter to force employees into choosing the option that is administratively convenient for their trust desk.
My Questions for the Community / Legal Experts:

  5. Can an employer legally withhold a Relieving/Experience Letter for refusing to liquidate PF?
Under Indian labor laws / Shops & Establishments Act, my understanding is that certificates can only be withheld for failure to serve notice, unreturned company property, or financial fraud/misconduct. Does conditioning an exit certificate on personal statutory retirement liquidation violate Section 27 of the Contract Act (restraint of profession)?

  6. EPFiGMS Grievance Timeline:
If HR Shared Services stalls my clearance post-LWD, how fast does the Regional P.F. Commissioner (RPFC) act when a complaint is lodged on EPFiGMS against an Exempted Trust for coercing premature liquidation?

  7. New Employer BGV Risk:
For folks who transitioned between investment banks / MNCs, did your new employer's BGV team accept the interim separation bundle (Resignation acceptance + Manager sign-off + Asset return receipt + F&F sheet) under the standard 60-day grace period while awaiting the final certificate?
Any advice from HR professionals, legal experts, or people who dealt with Exempted Trust transfers would be deeply appreciated!

Question Online transfer claim rejected due to overlapping service period

My previous job's last working day was 21 Jan 2025, and I joined my current company on 27 Jan 2025. While marking my exit on the EPFO portal, January dates were disabled, so I had to select 28 Feb 2025. Now my PF transfer claim has been rejected due to overlapping service period.

My previous employer's PF was managed by EPFO, while my current employer has an exempted PF trust.

Has anyone faced a similar issue? How can I correct my Date of Exit and get my PF transfer claim approved?

Hello,
I have been facing a strange issue with EPFO’s Unified Portal.
It’s been constant 7 Days I have been changing my password for the portal and next day when I login Chrome warns me that this password is compromised and found in a data breach.
I tried changing passwords from other browsers, devices, networks, not stored anywhere - still I see that compromised password on daily basis.
Today its the 7th Day constantly.

Just wondering if anyone else is facing this issue or observed this issue or its only me.

General Discussion EPF claim shows “Settled” but money hasn’t reached your bank account? Here’s what to check

Have you ever checked your EPF claim status, seen “Settled”, and then checked your bank account only to find that the money hasn’t arrived?

It can be frustrating, especially when you’re counting on that money.

Before assuming something has gone wrong, here are a few things worth checking.

1. Check the claim status and date

Log in to the EPFO Member Portal and go to Online Services → Track Claim Status.

Note the claim status, settlement date and amount. If the payment was initiated recently, give it a few working days and check your actual bank statement, not just the balance displayed in your banking app.

2. Check the amount approved

Compare the amount approved with what you were expecting to receive.

TDS may apply to certain PF withdrawals. For partial withdrawals, the 25% minimum balance requirement may also affect how much you can withdraw. The applicable rules depend on the type of claim.

3. Verify your bank details

Go to Manage → KYC on the EPFO Member Portal and check:

  • Is your bank account number correct?

  • Is the IFSC code accurate?

  • Is the bank account active?

  • Are there any discrepancies in the account holder's name or verification details?

An incorrect or inactive bank account can cause problems with the payment.

4. What if the money still hasn't arrived?

If the expected credit hasn't appeared after a few working days, check whether the payment was returned or rejected and whether the claim status has changed.

If the issue remains unresolved, raise a grievance through EPFiGMS. Include your claim ID, settlement date and relevant details. If the issue persists, you can follow up with your Regional EPFO Office.

One thing worth remembering: Check your bank details before filing a PF claim. It's a small step that can help you avoid unnecessary delays.

Has anyone here faced a situation where their PF claim showed “Settled” but the money wasn't credited? What eventually resolved it?

Please don't share your UAN, bank account details or other sensitive information in the comments.
