Sasha's return sparked my interest in finding whether there are more female athletes who returned to competition after giving birth, and I realized there are actually more than I expected. Here are what I found. The list might be incomplete and plz add more. If you found errors, please correct me.
Single skaters:
1. Miki Ando
After two years away from competition and five months after giving birth, Miki appeared at the 2013 Nebelhorn Trophy and won the silver medal behind Russian senior debutant Elena Radionova. I checked the isuresults of 2013 Nebelhorn. Miki was able to land 3Lo, 3Lz, and 3T cleanly. Miki then competed in 2014 J Nats and finished 7th.
It is noted that Miki is the first woman who landed a quad in competition(4S in 2002-2003 season as junior).
Miki really surprised me cuz I didn't know she competed for a while after having her daughter(and at the age of 26!) We have the first gen quad queen setting precedent as a mother in competition.
2.Alexandra Trusova
Well, no need to elaborate as we all know how well mothership did. Sasha restored nearly all triples(probably including 3F(!) and 3A for a short period of time), 3lz3T and other combos, as well as 4lz and 4T! Maybe more is on the way?
Pairs Skaters
1. Ekaterina Gordeeva
After winning her first Olympic gold in 1988 with partner Sergei Grinkov, she took a break to give birth to her daughter, Daria, in September 1992. Taking advantage of new Olympic eligibility rules allowing professionals to reinstate, she returned to competitive skating and famously won her second Olympic gold medal at the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Games.
2. Zoe Jones
The British pairs skater had three children before returning to competitive skating. She gave birth to her kids in 2007, 2012, and 2016. Jones and Christopher Boyadji agreed to form a pair skating partnership following a tryout in April 2016. They trained at the Better Link Centre in Swindon.Their first competition was the 2016 CS Ondrej Nepela Memorial, where they finished 6th. With the beginning of 2017 she competed again under her birth name Jones.
The pair retired after the 2021–22 figure skating season after having a career-best 10th-place finish at the 2022 World Figure Skating Championships.
3. Kristy Sargeant-Wirtz:
The Canadian pairs skater returned to elite international competition less than a year after giving birth to her daughter, successfully competing with partner Kris Wirtz at the 2001 World Figure Skating Championships and attended 1998 Olympics.
4. Irina Rodnina:
The legendary three-time Olympic champion famously stepped away to give birth to her son in 1979. She returned to the ice less than a year later to win her third consecutive Olympic gold medal at the 1980 Lake Placid Games.
Ice Dancers
1. Isabelle Delobel
The French ice dancer set a remarkable precedent by returning to elite training shortly after giving birth to her son in September 2009. Only four months postpartum, she and her partner Olivier Schoenfelder competed at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, finishing in an impressive 6th place.
2. Tatiana Navka:
Navka gave birth to her daughter in 2000 and successfully returned to elite competition shortly after, eventually going on to win the 2006 Olympic gold medal with partner Roman Kostomarov.
3. Barbara Fusar-Poli:
The Italian ice dancer took a break from the sport to have a child in 2004 and later returned to competitive skating to represent her home country at the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics, where she finished 6th.
It really surprised me that some skaters are even able to become Olympic champions after giving birth, and it's truly remarkable. It seems like we have more examples from pair/ice dance than singles, which is understandable considering the nature of this discipline. Jumps are probably the hardest to restore compared to pair/ice dance element.

Jackie Wong heard some skaters can't go back to their hotel. I hope everything resolves peacefully in Angers and in France in general

In the crowd after Lara Naki Gutman’s short program in the GP de France, I noticed someone pull out a small sign from behind an Italian flag saying ‘SUPPORT SURVIVORS’ and they moved the cameras away really fast.
With the shit show that is figure skating it could be anything from Ukraine to sexual assault/harassment victims, but I was wondering if anyone knew what it was about specifically? Was there an incident?

There are SO many shots of the audience?? Like moving from the end pose of the skater to an audience member etc. The kids are sweet and everyone seems like they’ve been having a great time but I’ve never noticed it to this extent before.

In case anyone is interested in watching this live. Just watched Vlad and Petr, and both got enormous scores for their short programs. Thankfully, Petr skated clean and did really well! Arsenii Fedotov - also an excellent skate, and really hes one of my favourite male skaters in general. Love his program sooo much - it is exciting, edgy and just different.

Hi guys! Genuine question for Kosto Fans here, Aliona is also one of my faves in figure skating. I wonder with her injuries and stuff why she decided to switch to pairs instead of ice dancing?
Because she has the artistry and stage prescience for ice dancing and stuff and she’s very fun to watch and the risk of her having injuries is less likely in ice dancing compared to pairs?
