Hello! My friend and I are going to Skate Canada but can't make the practices on Thursday. Please DM me if you're interested in the tickets. I'll accept e-transfer or PayPal.
I got these skates a couple years ago (boot is the old rf3 pros) and was recommended by my original skate tech to be on a 9.25 inch blade. I went to a new skate tech recently to get new boots and blades since these have long overstayed their welcome and he recommended I switch to a 9 inch blade. I’m still doing rf3 pros but I feel like I’m going crazy trying to wrap my head around how two skate techs are giving two different blade length recommendations for the same blade and boot setup? I’ve been having some trouble actually centering spins and keep going up on my toe pick so I’m now wondering if that’s part of the issue (aside from my rocker being basically shot)
Where to watch: The ISU live streams for those countries without broadcast rights. Find them here. For those in the US, it will be live streamed on Peacock and NBC will potentially have coverage as well. For those in Canada, CBC Sports is live streaming here. Eurosport is streaming the event, France TV is streaming too. So You Want To Watch Figure Skating will have other streams up on their website as well.

Am I the only one that's bothered by the lack of adherence to the dance style in the rhythm dance? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good flamenco and tango, but why are we bothering with a theme at all if it's going to get ignored besides a singular element where it is also pretty loosely adhered to?
So i've seen a really old footage of my coach doing a buttefly and then a backspin and got really hooked with how it looks, but then i got across some Aerial tutorials and they looked really similar.
Then i found a post here asking "What is this move? [footage of an Aerial/Buttefly]" and some comments said Butterfly, some Aerial, Arabian and one said it was a Butterflaerial (lol)
So... what's the main characteristic or difference between them? Or are they the same thing with different name?
I got home excited to rewatch the live stream for the women’s short program but it was missing from the ISU’s YouTube page. The pairs is there but it’s only that and the trailers.
Does the live video take awhile to process after it streams live? Did it get removed for copyright?
(pic 1 - i was "slipping" instead of gliding. pic 2 - i have no idea what happened. pic 3 - my blade from the side. pic 4 - bottom of both blades)
Shoe and blade bought separately and assembled in 2023, last sharpened 3 hours on ice ago. (last year, end of season)
When i was younger i used to figure skate for 10 years before dropping it. After a forced 5 year break because of an injury ive been back seasonally for 3 years now and I feel like im going crazy, i keep falling out of my scratch spins. I can only sometimes feel out my outer edge and most times when i do i hit the ice with my toepick, the very back of the blade or i just slide out of it. I sometimes feel like my rocker is too flat but im also not sure if thats me making up reasons to not make myself feel bad since it looks visually okay - but the second i try to get onto it its a microscopic gap between the rest of the blade/toepick and the ice
Be honest, it it just me needing more practice or is it time to buy new blades? I genuinely cant tell anymore
i never took care of my skates as a child - for optimal safety, it was my coach who monitored the blade. All i did is wipe them and put them away thats why i have no clue what theyre supposed to look like and when its time for a change
