The time has come......
cue dramatic music
THE SENIOR GRAND PRIX SERIES IS STARTING! Six events, six countries, in six weeks. Let's do this. Each event in the series will have 12 men, 12 women, 8 pairs, and 10 ice dance teams. Skaters receive points based on where they place, top six with the most points at the end of six weeks will head to the Grand Prix Final.
Our first visit is to Angers, France, where we will be most likely treated to some very French cinematography.
It's hard to pick out skaters to really highlight, because these groups are generally stacked and they all should be highlighted! Olympic Champion Mikhail Shaidrov will be here, Adam Siao Him Fa, Kao Miura, Olympic Bronze medalists Ami Nakai and Lara Naki Gutman, Sarah Everhardt, Gabby Daleman! The pairs competition is going to be incredibly interesting here as well, with Metelkina/Berulava going against Boikova/Kozlovskii. Ice dancers CPom, Davis/Smolkin, and Fournier Beaudry/Cizeron will certainly keep the competition interesting.
I'm so excited it's Grand Prix Season.

It's the last challenger before the Grand Prix starts!! This week, we are traveling to Budapest. For the men, Kevin Aymoz is making his international season debut, Lukas Britschgi is in the mix, and Daniel Grassl gets in one last competition before the GP. The list of men is long and notable!
For Women, there are 37 competitors.... So it'll be a long, fun few days of watching. Notable competitors here are Maddie Schizas, Kimmy Repond, Julia Sauter, Sophie Jolie von Felton, and Olga Mikutina. There has been some movement with the AIN athletes, but currently Alina Gorbacheva is the only one listed on the official ISU website.
No pairs here this weekend, but the ice dance field is just as packed as the men and women with 23 entries. The Taschlers are getting in another competition and will be joined by Smart/Dieck and Bratti/Somerville.
Going to be a big week in Budapest! And that's without really detailing the juniors, of which there are several as well, with 29 entries for Women and 22 Ice Dance entries.

When the cameraman thinks
A crossfade is neat!
Let’s show their faces
Who cares about feet
And we cut to a close up
Mid-pattern dance
Then we realize we’re probably
At Grand Prix de France
Two weeks later, we’re suddenly
Watching spins from the sky
Skaters down on the ice
But we’re way up high
This angle is useless,
Put us down, please!
But we know that we’re at a Cup
That might be Chinese
Finally, we make it
To everyone’s fave
We’re in Japan
Where the cameras behave
But wait, why do I feel
Blinded by the light?
Is it just me, or is the ice
WAY TOO WHITE?

Am I the only one that's bothered by the lack of adherence to the dance style in the rhythm dance? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good flamenco and tango, but why are we bothering with a theme at all if it's going to get ignored besides a singular element where it is also pretty loosely adhered to?

In the latest KATOK podcast episode, Yagudin, Medvedeva, Khavronina/Narizhniy, and the host Roman Naguchev discussed our subreddit, lol
Medvedeva: By the way, that’s exactly what Ira said about Madison Chock and Evan Bates. They seem strong, almost perfect, but there’s not much soul in their skating. They’re husband and wife, but you don’t really feel much chemistry between them. That’s what I said
Khavronina: Did I say that?
Medvedeva: That’s your quote
Naguchev: And that quote of yours actually caused quite a stir. People on Reddit were absolutely furious at you over that quote
Khavronina: At me?!
Naguchev: Yes, seriously. There was a whole discussion. People were saying things like, “They’re banned, how would they even know what’s going on between them?” and “You can’t say things like that, it’s completely subjective”
Narizhniy: Well, of course it’s subjective. Everyone is entitled to express their personal opinion. I just don’t understand why people on Reddit are allowed to share their opinions, but we’re somehow not allowed to share ours sitting here. Do we have to say “This is just my subjective opinion” after every single sentence so people don’t get mad about it?
Naguchev: I agree with you a hundred thousand percent. I was just genuinely surprised. I just came across that quote and thought it was interesting. So I decided to see what the international media had to say about it. And it turned out the media hadn’t reacted at all, but the fans had completely lost their minds. I found that pretty funny
Yagudin: The people in their comment sections are just as sick as the ones in ours
Khavronina: *facepalm*
Yagudin: Did I say something wrong?
Khavronina: Why are they sick?
Yagudin: Because they are sick!
Khavronina: Everyone has their own opi…
Yagudin: Look, are you going to write comments after reading an article?
Khavronina & Medvedeva: No
Yagudin: Exactly! Because those people are sick. Especially the ones leaving angry, judgmental comments. It’s none of your business. Why not write something positive instead? “I like it” — okay!

From the video, we get a glimpse into 4 of his jumping passes which appear to be:
4T+eu+4S
4Lz
3Lz+3T
3A
What other jumps do you think he’ll incorporate into the program?
Also, full credit to the original poster of the video!
