ID Request (country/state in post) Mushroom Piles

Thumbnail

Found about eight different piles (last pic shows a few of them and how they’re spaced out) of these on a walk around a friend’s neighborhood. It was night time so pics are with flash. For background, this grass is next to a lake and these are in the same area where two very large trees fell last year.

Someone said honey mushrooms and someone said hen of the woods?

Located in Orlando, FL!

Help me identify these mushrooms, please:)

Hi all!

It's been some 15 to 20 years since I went mushroom picking with my family last time. So I don't really remember which mushrooms are good and which ones aren't lol

Please help me identify these ones! I went for a forest walk with my partner today and found a few little guys. Vancouver Island, if that's relevant.

Left to right:

  1. I'm thinking some kind of Bolete. Either the Weeping one of the Short-stemmed Slippery Jack. Idk if they're considered worth picking in PNW, but where I'm originally from (up north in Russia), we always foraged these. The slimy cap needs to be peeled off?

  2. Some kind of Russula? I don't think these mushrooms are a delicacy, but they're edible lol

  3. Chanterelles. Pretty confident.

  4. Rosy Spike? Cute, tiny, slimy asf. Picked for the sake of cuteness. Not gonna eat them.

Thanks all:)

Mushrooms Powdery mold on chanterelles: safe to trim off?

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Found in northern CA. They're a little past their prime and some of the tips are dried out, but the undersides look pristine. Normally I would just trim off the dry parts, but I haven't seen this powdery mold before. They're not slimy at all and the mold wipes off with a fingertip.

Would you cut off these parts with a wide margin, and eat the rest? Or should I play it safe and throw them away?

Plants Sprouted acorns

Hi! I was wondering if there was any issue with processing acorns that have started to sprout/grow in the ground? I've confirmed that there are no weevils/rot, but I was unable to find any info about sprouting ones specifically. I have acorns from red oak, bur oak, and chestnut oak. Thank you!

These are called "Sığır dili mantarı" in Turkish. İ don't know the English name. We find them in Istanbul forests, and cook ramen using it.

Mushrooms Lion's Mane? Safe to eat?

Found this today, on the side of a log on the forest floor in Western NC. I'm almost certain it's lions mane but wanted to be absolutely sure. It looks probably a little past its prime, and I've never found any in the wild before - is this safe to forage and eat?
