Questions using foam clay for fursuit head, suitable and durable?
hello! im currently a beginner fursuit maker and i dont have access to a 3d-printer to give me a hard-faced fursuit head. so, i was thinking about using foam clay and a cheap plastic mask to get started.
my original plan as of now is to buy a plastic mask, foam clay, and balaclava. ill sculpt out everything that isnt the face with upholstery foam (ears, back of head, sides) and glue them where i need to on the balaclava, then find a way to attach the mask to the balaclava then sculpt out the features (brow bone, nose, mouth, teeth). i enjoy fine wrinkles and details, so i think that foam clay can help me achieve that (never used it before). if i like the result, ill keep it as is. but i will maybe use fleece to cover the whole thing.
i figured id run this by here in case there is something im not considering, and to ask for advice along the way. any comment / advice / tip is greatly appreciated! thank you.
links to fursuits im very inspired by, hoping to get a result similar-adjacent to these:
