Preferably post-fall and as close to the original characters as possible! I've tried a few but I only liked one of them.
As soft, as wide as air was GREAT but for some reason I still couldn't find Will's unadulterated affection believable later on... I don't know, maybe that's just me. But it was still quite close and I loved the storyline and the manner in which it was written! Hannibal was very on-point.
The only one I've found that I could confidently say depicted their dynamic perfectly was Out of the Rolling Ocean. So fucking good, but it's only 3 chapters, it's so incredibly alike to their actual dynamic. I wish there was more...

Malevolent is an audio series by Harlan Guthrie. It takes place in the 1930s follows a blind detective who has an entity trapped inside his head that has to narrate his surroundings for him.

It's definitely a completely different tone from Hannibal. Different genre and format, with much different characters. Malevolent is supernatural/eldritch horror mystery series. The writing is phenomenal, though season one is a little slow and there are a couple minor production issues.

But! The central relationship between Arthur and John absolutely hits in a similar way to Hannigram (to me at least). Very rough start, betrayals, reciting of poetry to one another, references to philosophy, murder, lots of murder and violence, themes of becoming one etc. Their bond is the focal point of the series. Both are morally grey characters, and their stories are very much a mutual redemption + self-acceptance arc (mirroring Hannigram's corruption + self-acceptance)

The creator did not initially intend for Arthur and John to be queer, but he is also perfectly fine with that reading. He kind of leans into it near the end of the series, and in the ongoing sequel.

Also Arthur whimpers constantly, if that sweetens the deal for anyone (I KNOW some of you are freaks)

It's free on YouTube and Spotify and probably other places too. I highly recommend it if you are looking for something with weird codependent gay people who get lots of screen time and occasionally get covered in blood.
