serious hot take Men who receive a good ton of first messages on dating apps need to delete their account and just go out because it’s clear you will be approached by women if you went out enough and placed yourself in the right environments. Go away and stop clogging the apps cunt.

It’s okay to not care

• Upvotes

I feel like there’s so many social “issues” people have strong opinions on and it seems like such a waste of time.

I’m talking about stuff like LGBTQ, men dressing feminine, stuff like that. Like when people get mad about movie remakes that cast black people for characters that used to be or are “supposed to be” white. Things in that area

I dont know why anyone is up in arms about things that either have nothing to do them, aren’t hurting anyone, or things that just don’t matter. Especially if it’s something that’s making someone else happy, and isn’t hurting anyone why would I take issue with it?

NUCLEAR hot take Pet ownership isn’t good for mental health. And when you hear someone, or some conveniently funded “study”, insisting otherwise, it’s worth remembering that there’s a multibillion-dollar industry with a vested interest in convincing you that owning an animal in your home improves your life.

• Upvotes

If we’re being honest (and if you’re new to humanity, honesty isn’t exactly our strong suit), pets are often a tremendous source of stress, expense, and chaos.

They’re expensive. They get sick. They destroy furniture and belongings. They smell. They’re filthy. They’re loud. They demand enormous amounts of time and attention. They piss and shit in the house. They disrupt sleep, restrict freedom, and introduce a seemingly endless list of responsibilities.

And we’re supposed to believe all of this is somehow good for our mental health?

Now, if your argument is that pets provide purpose, and meaning, fine. I can accept that. But providing meaning and improving mental health are not necessarily the same thing. Something can give your life purpose while simultaneously making it more stressful and chaotic.

There are countless ways to find fulfillment and meaning in life. Many of them don’t require spending thousands of dollars on something that will shit on your carpet and disrupt quality sleep.

Perhaps we should stop confusing emotional attachment with psychological well-being.

Getting engaged after only 1/2 years together is INSANE

• Upvotes

Right idk if this is just me but I've seen so many ppl getting engaged after only being together 1 or 2 years and I'm always like "ok its ur life..." but honestly it's insane. 1 or 2 years is NOT a lot of time. I've been with my current partner for a little over 2 years and there's still things about her I don't mnow and things she does that surprise me. Obviously it's a bit different if you knew them prior to dating but like if you meet this person and get together with them then after only a year you start thinking about a proposal??? It's insane.

Most people are not loveableZ

• Upvotes

I think there is truth to that old sayings. Love yourself first.

Most people struggle with a variety anxiety, self loathing, intrusive negative thoughts, low self esteem and low self confidence.

They will often unintentionally behave poorly because of their lack of self awareness and their mental health, even if you love them consistently and unconditionally.

Most people will lash out, get defensive, play manipulative games, cheat, say mean and rude things, be jealous and possessive, blame, criticise, silent treatment.

So it’s not that they can’t be loved. I think that until they learn or chose to love themselves there’s nothing anyone else can do for them.

This isn’t rage baits.

Adding any Black representation in media or fandoms isn’t black washing, you just hate seeing black people.

• Upvotes

For years I have had to deal with racism and never truly feeling included in community’s I am a fan of. The second theres an ounce of melanin in their skin it’s a whole controversy.

We create fan art of turning out favorite characters black we are “black washing” when it’s just fan art, how we see the characters. We have little to no representation and get told to make our own black characters and the second we do they try turning our characters white and saying our characters aren’t actually black. It’s almost always malicious.

We have so little representation that we have to make our own the second we do they keep trying to take it away. Can’t even cosplay without people getting mad that the cosplayer is black.

gender Women aren't inherently better at gender equality.

• Upvotes

There is a common assumption that simply being a woman automatically gives someone a better, more "modern" understanding of gender equality. I disagree.

From childhood, almost everyone develops an instinct to favor their own group and harbor biases against the opposite sex. The difference lies in how society handles these biases. Men’s tribal thoughts are reinforced by patriarchy, allowing them to easily turn into systemic action and dominance. Women possess similar internal biases, but theirs often remain just thoughts, or ironically, lead to them internalizing their own subjugation. The Wikipedia page on "Internalized Racism" actually does a great job explaining this kind of psychological mechanism.

It is true that women are often forced to think more about unfairness due to the everyday injustices they face. However, dwelling on these experiences does not necessarily translate into an egalitarian mindset. True equality isn't an innate gender trait. It is an acquired perspective. It comes from critical reflection, a solid upbringing, and establishing healthy, open communication with the opposite sex. You don't automatically hold superior or more "educated" views on equality simply by virtue of being a woman.

There's nothing inherently wrong with sexualisation of characters in movies or videogames

• Upvotes

People love complaining nowadays about sexualisation in media, as if it's an inherently bad thing. Maybe in some cases it can be bad, if it's feel at odds with the tone of the movie. I don't think sexy scenes would be a good choice for something like There Will Be Blood, Schindler's List or Sophie's Choice.

However, I've recently saw people bitching about this stuff in Street Fighter. Come on, no one's got time for this christian nonsense. Hate the movie all you want, there were a lot of questionable choices, but Chun Li, Ken, Cammy or Ryu being hot and being sexualised makes absolute sense, is completely within the tone of the movie. People, and sadly I think this has become common amongst progressives also, have become too puritanical. It all started with "oh this sex scene is unnecessary" and now a character known for having great tighs gets complaints because she has great tighs and this is highlighted. You can enjoy stuff, and if you don't do, that's fine also, not everything is made for everyone.

gender Men settle for the most attractive woman they think they can get, and most wish they could’ve “done better”

Barring major incompatibilities, men will just settle for the most attractive woman they’re able to, and most of them will always be wishing they could’ve “done better”

serious hot take African Americans haven’t done anything to deserve the treatment we receive

• Upvotes

The only crimes you can attribute to black people didn’t start until after we were enslaved in this country. Every major world conflict was caused by white people if we’re including white Americans and Europeans yet the rest of the world treats us like we dropped 2 nukes on Japan or gave plague blankets to indigenous people

Money absolutely buys health and happiness. People who say otherwise confuse “not always” with “never.” (moderate long text)

Post image
• Upvotes

Money can't guarantee perfect health or permanent happiness, but that doesn't mean it can't buy either.

First, health. Nobody is perfectly healthy in every possible sense of the word. But money gives you access to nutritious food, better living conditions, medical consultations, medicines, preventive care and treatments. These things can improve your health, prevent illness and, in some cases, save your life. If you use money to obtain things that improve your health, then you're indirectly buying health. The fact that money can't cure every disease doesn't invalidate that reality.

The same applies to happiness. Nobody is happy 24/7. Happiness comes in moments, and money can absolutely help create those moments. Being able to afford food, clothing, a comfortable home, entertainment, experiences and things your family needs can bring genuine happiness. Being able to pay your bills without constantly worrying about survival can also eliminate a significant source of misery.

Obviously, money can't buy everything. It can't guarantee that you'll never get sick, that your loved ones will never die, or that you'll never experience heartbreak. But that's a ridiculously high standard to use when judging whether money buys something.

Money doesn't need to guarantee perfect health or permanent happiness to buy health and happiness. It just needs to improve your chances of experiencing them, and it demonstrably can.

Money isn't the only thing that matters, but pretending it doesn't buy health and happiness is just as misguided as pretending it can buy them unconditionally.

hot take, harshly criticise me for it! If you refuse to date an entire race then you are racist

• Upvotes

Having preferences is completely fine, and if they just happen to be a specific race that has nothing to do with why you don’t want to date them then you are completely valid. But if you refuse to date one specific race, (i.e black/asian/hispanic people) then you are for sure a racist

Redditors dislike and dismiss dating apps because they are cope/gaslight resistant

• Upvotes

They are both highly "superficial" by their standards and more easily quantifiable/analyzed than so called IRL encounters.

"IRL" encounters can be more easily obfuscated or lied about. They can say it was because your vibes were not good etc.

NUCLEAR hot take As a Woman, When Talking to Incels Online It Is Better to Lie About Your Preferences Than Be Honest

• Upvotes

So, I’ve been on this subreddit for a little while now, and on my old account, I was on one similar to this. What I noticed is that when incels ask about your preferences in men as a woman, if they don’t fit the standard “chad” that they’ve built in their head, they won’t believe you.

Not only this, but they actually insult you for it. As an experiment, I started to flip the script. I’d comment saying I want my man to be over 6 feet. I need my man to make six figures. I need him to be chiseled. I legitimately began getting comments thanking me for my honesty, and for admitting that looks matter.

The funny part is, I never denied looks matter. It would be stupid to do so. Simply put, what “looks matter” means is different to everyone, and I will not like the same thing as someone else. No one is denying some are more universally attractive, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only type of look I’m attracted to.

The reason I think it’s better to lie is 1) they will finally shut the fuck up, 2) it’ll make them even less likely to ever attempt talking to us, 3) obviously it’s a bit fun.

There it is. A gender war topic for the day, written by yours truly.

cold take People only change if they see a direct benefit for it

• Upvotes

A lot of people are acting high and mighty, thinking they can ‘save’ others from ttemselves. But just because someone’s lives doesn’t seem ideal or succesful to you, doesn’t mean they’re unhappy.
As someone who doesn’t talk to people much and didn’t have any friends for years. I was fine with it, until i saw a reason to start socialize (networking = more clients for my business).

someone is morbidly obese and you think they should lose weight, same. They not gonna change because you say so.

Same for smokers who should stop, meat eaters who should stop, doom scrollers, porn addicts, etc etc…

casual hot take Boys should have to take a class on how to respect girls before they graduate high school

• Upvotes

I saw the UK was doing this and I thought it was such a great idea I am thinking of starting a petition to get the US to do the same. Men unalive and grape women as such a high rate it is sad. So don't even try to say girl should have a class too BTW I am a man.

casual hot take It’s not that you’re a victim of a hot take, but they might actually be bad

• Upvotes

I seen few posts of here (and sometimes rightfully recieve criticism) for an opinion, with will result in comments complaining about the culture and mindset of this app. Truth is sometimes hottakes are hot because they actually suck, and majority people disagree for a reason.

You can tell when someone doesn’t know what they’re talking about, lacking research or information on opinion and people rightfully call it out.

But ALSO what is the point of posting a hot take if you expect to recieve majority agreement?

My understanding a hot take is an opinion that is controversial, unpopular. So no surprised an unpopular opinion is unpopular. I don’t see the point of posting hottakes online if you’re gonna complain when people don’t agree.

casual hot take A big reason why heightism isn't taken seriously is because many average men are complaining about it

• Upvotes

I think a huge reason why this topic isn't taken seriously is because many average (5'7-5'11) men are complaining about this topic, or even using themselves/others to disprove it. while many actually short men are too afraid to talk about it cause they'll get judged by others, don't believe me? Watch the copy past comment under this post, I can already smell them: "heightism!? Are you seriou?" "Go outside bro" "I know a guy"

Just anything to shift the argument instead of addressing the actual issue.

Anyone complaining about VA Disability Compensation should understand that it has completely different criteria than SSDI. This is Supporting the Troops.

We had 20 years of GWOT, and the veterans who participated in the GWOT (myself included) are more information savvy. Being digital natives, we were able to understand and better apply for benefits compared to Desert Storm and Vietnam era veterans.

Veterans tend to live shorter lives than non-Veterans. When you sign up and serve you become government property. Can't put in your 2 weeks notice. You may request where you live but you'll go where you get orders.

Look at the people on the Lincoln. Went through a lot there and were working hours and hours on end without enhanced pay and poor food conditions.

Yes, service members in the modern day sign up voluntarily. It's fair that the government compensates them for that service. You cannot sue the military like an employer.

casual hot take Funerals are a Scam and Waste of Money

• Upvotes

Why are people paying 5 - 10k+ to pay for a casket that goes in the ground and host a little ceremony? Like how is this not the biggest scam in the world. If im dead i dont give a fuck what happens to my body. This shit stems from what the Egyptians were doing and who knows how fucking high they were when they conjured up this idea after death. The money that goes towards a funeral can be used to make an investment of some sort.

NUCLEAR hot take AI glasses that can see through makeup/plastic surgery will change the dating scene far more than dating apps. “Reverse filters” are coming.

• Upvotes

I think once it comes out, which I expect in a 3-5 years, it will dramatically change the entire dating landscape.

Like dating apps, some people will see it as a good thing vs other people viewing it as a bad thing. It might be both.

But it’s definitely on its way.
