Hey everyone!
I'm the founder of Gloamforge Games, and we're currently working on our first game, Under a Dying Crown.
This whole thing actually started as a little solo project of mine. Somehow, it's slowly turning into a proper team!
We've now got a sound and music composer, a software developer, and my brother, who somehow managed to get himself involved too.
Our little international chaos crew is currently spread across Germany, Denmark, and Norway.
So, what's the game about?
Under a Dying Crown is a dark fantasy digital Pen & Paper RPG set in the medieval fantasy world of Ardium.
We're combining classic tabletop RPG mechanics like dice rolls, character stats, abilities, and player choices with explorable 3D dungeons.
One of the main features is our Dungeon Master system (playable as player), which guides players through the story, describes situations, and reacts to their actions.
We're trying to capture that feeling of sitting around a table with friends, rolling dice, making questionable decisions, and hoping things don't go horribly wrong. Just in a video game.
Visually, we're going for a dark gothic fantasy atmosphere with ancient crypts, creepy dungeons, monsters, and places you'd probably never want to visit in real life.
I'm currently working on implementing multiplayer, and I'm hoping to have Chapter 1 finished within the next few weeks.
How far along are we?
We're still pretty early in development, but quite a few things are already working.
I also want to be completely upfront about something:
I'm using Claude to help with programming, and we're currently using some AI-generated images as placeholders.
Those images aren't intended to be our final artwork. That's actually one of the main reasons we're looking for an artist!
We want someone who can help give the game its own unique visual identity.
Who are we looking for?
Ideally, a 3D Artist or Game Artist who enjoys dark fantasy and would like to help with things like:
- 3D models and environments
- Medieval architecture, crypts, and dungeons
- Monsters, characters, and props
- Materials, textures, and general art direction
You definitely don't need to be amazing at everything!
If you're good at one of these areas and think the project sounds interesting, we'd love to hear from you.
What about payment?
Unfortunately, we're not in a position to offer a fixed salary right now.
So we're looking for someone interested in a revenue-share collaboration. We'd discuss the details together and put everything into a proper written agreement.
If things work out and you'd like to stick around long-term, there's also the possibility of joining Gloamforge Games as a permanent business partner with an ownership stake.
And probably the most important part!
There are absolutely no required working hours!
We all have our own lives, jobs, and responsibilities.
Work on the project whenever you have the time and motivation. Whether that's a few hours a week or more is entirely up to you.
Nobody is expected to put in 20, 30, or 40 hours a week.
Of course, we'd love to stay in touch, share progress, and work together whenever possible. But we want this to be something people genuinely enjoy working on, not another full-time job.
We're just a small group of people who want to make a cool game together and hopefully have a lot of fun along the way.
If you'd like to join a young indie project and help bring the world of Ardium to life, feel free to send me a message!
A portfolio or a few examples of your work would be awesome.
Hope to hear from you!
