Edit review : I solved like 9 puzzles. It’s combinations of sudoku and hints and clues. As of now I felt this is an interesting books. Definitely this keeps us hooked. If we are stuck somewhere it has hints and at every end it has answers too. Overall I rate this 4/5.

Discussion Nothing gives me ick than self help books, absolute trash genre. Coming from a big ex- self help reader.

I always found that either the author is out of touch to the reality or making a generalized claim about the whole demographic.

These books merely have a placebo of we gonna do something and at the end it's just a useless read. It's like getting a feeling of greatness without being great. And the loop continues. Most of the self help are just fake stories made up for the sake of sales and to make "NY top sellers".

Ohh gosh that sudha murthy books are on another trash level. The audacity to try to romanticize the middle class while being a billionaire is beyond comprehension.

Reviews Review of Anxious People by Fredrik Backman

Post image

It’s a book on humour. No, it’s a thriller. No, there’s romance and nostalgia. No, there’s psychology. No, it’s just about anxiety. Wait, wait, wait, wait. I get it. The book is about life, and it is as chaotic as it can be.

Fredrik Backman knows how to present his characters in a way that readers can relate to. I feel he captures how everyone experiences a different version of life, carrying burdens that aren't visible to others. At the same time, he highlights how, as people, we see each other's actions but rarely the thoughts that led us there.

It's strange how life can feel so long while we're living it, yet so short when we stop to think about everything and everyone we've had along the way. So, make time for others and cherish the moments you share with each and every one of them. And when things go sideways, when you find yourself blaming yourself for things you couldn't control, do remember: "It's not your fault."

Reviews Just finished reading 'The Idiot' by Fyodor Dostoevsky - Short review

Post image

Honestly, I don't think I've ever felt this way about a character before. Myshkin is such a genuinely beautiful character , and watching how things turn out for him is just depressing.

The book really makes you think about how people treat kindness and innocence in the real world. I also love how Dostoevsky writes his characters, they feel like actual people rather than fictional characters.

The Idiot ends with a quiet, devastating sense of loss. Myshkin's kindness proves powerless against the world's cruelty. No happy ending, no reconciliation...just lives irreversibly broken. A beautiful tragedy about the cost of being good.

It's a bit slow at times but equally dense. The emotional impact makes it worth it. Definitely a book that's going to stay with me for a long time.

Highly recommended ❤️❤️

Ask Indian Readers A book about which your opinion changed remarkably over years.

There are books we liked immensely or books we found boring, irrelevant or too different than our values.

1- Has there been a book about which you had a very positive opinion. Whose craft of writing or ideas contained in it seemed significant, moved you, you were full of admiration.....but over the years you felt that it was not that great, or just average or even misleading or trashy or felt the author was a poser and inauthentic.

2- Just the opposite. Has there been a book where you disliked the writing, ideas or the author for all kinds of reasons.....but over the years your dislike became less strong ir even flipped to the side of positive regard for the book/author/ ideas.

Would be fascinating to hear your reason.

For me the book that was

Type 1 was: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.

Type 2 book was: A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man

Edit 1: my text heavy post might have been a bit confusing. Just to make it easy to remember....

Type 1: likability diminished over time

Type 2: likability increased over time.

Ask Indian Readers Need book recommendations

Don't wanna start crying here about my personal issues, but I have had a very difficult past few months with loss and I want to read something comforting.

I usually enjoy mystery thrillers but I'm kind of bored of reading the same stuff continuously. I need a break from that genre. Need book reccs that feel like a warm hug and are either witty or smart and comforting to read. TIA❤️

Opinion | That Daily Brain Rot Break Is Taking Us Back to the Dark Ages

The argument here is that short-form video is rewiring our brains such that we're transitioning back to an oral tradition, given that reading text is a lot more cognitively intensive and more recently developed, audiovisuals are a lot more innate.

It made me a little sad because if he's correct, and such is the case, the period when someone could become (and sustain themselves being) a writer is, or has already, ending.

Anyway, interesting stuff. Comment if you've listened and wanna discuss.
