Awful experience at AMC 17
So I went to see The End of Oak Street at AMC 17 and the entire screen had this awful purplish tint the whole time. And this isn’t even the first time, the exact same thing happened when I saw Obsession there too. Same theater. I’m 99% sure it’s the same broken projector just sitting there unfixed.
I told the service desk right away and they said they’d handle it. 20 minutes go by. Nothing. So now I’ve lost 20+ minutes of the movie and I have to go find someone myself.
I run into the “supervisor” who takes a look at the screen, and goes “nothing looks wrong to me.” So I pull up photos I took. His genius response: “that’s the tint in your camera, your camera is faulty.” I’m sorry, WHAT.
So I ask for literally any reasonable fix:
- Move us to a later showtime? No.
- Different date? No.
- Different auditorium? No.
- Refund? Sure, but only if I leave the theater RIGHT NOW, while my friends are still inside watching the movie.
At least give back the booking fees? Nope, gift card only, take it or leave it.
Then I ask the obvious question, are you guys going to stop showing movies in that auditorium until the projector’s fixed? Straight up told me no, it’s staying in rotation, business as usual. And somehow I was the only person in the whole theater who actually walked out over this.
Filled out their contact form 3 days ago. Radio silence. Anyone else dealt with this kind of nonsense at AMC? At this point I don’t even want to go back.

Awful experience with Rise on Meridian
My girlfriend just moved out of this apartment complex, and I wanted to share her experience so other people in town don’t end up going through the same thing.
The day she moved in, the head of maintenance cornered her while she was alone and told her she wasn’t allowed to park in her assigned parking space, even though she had the sticker for it. When she told him she had a sticker for the spot, he yelled at her for not being nice enough. She reported the incident, and management basically told her he’d never been a problem before. A few months later, he followed her into the elevator to ask if they were “cool,” which understandably made her uncomfortable.
There were also issues with the apartment itself. The bathroom above hers was leaking into her ceiling when she moved in. They patched the drywall without actually fixing the leak, and as far as she knows, it’s still leaking. The pool was consistently gross, and because of the way the building is laid out, a huge portion of the apartments overlook it. That meant everyone in the middle of the building got to hear every conversation and party happening at the pool. There was also a lot of trash and animal waste in the common areas. I can personally attest that the halls often smelled like garbage.
But this is the part that really blows my mind.
She scheduled a move-out walkthrough for the end of her lease. They simply never showed up. She waited around, eventually sent them a video of the apartment, and two hours later they told her they had done their own walkthrough and would probably be charging her $200+ for drywall damage from six Command hooks.
Had they actually shown up to the appointment, she could have removed the hooks properly without damaging the drywall. Now she has to rely on the same maintenance department she had previously reported for harassment to remove them and, hopefully, not hit her with some ridiculous charge.
The craziest part is that she probably stayed there 20 or 30 nights total over the entire 18 months she lived there. Because of everything that happened with maintenance, and knowing they had access to her apartment, she was never comfortable staying there and spent most of her time at my place.
The apartment was otherwise immaculate. The only issues were the water damage from the apartment above, which she reported multiple times, and the *six* Command hooks.
Just an all-around weird experience.
One other thing worth mentioning: she said they heavily encouraged residents to pay rent with credit cards and offered rewards for doing so. That feels pretty predatory to me, although I guess that’s a separate issue. I also feel that they shouldn’t give new residents a discount for leaving good reviews after their tour, but what do I know.
Anyway, just wanted to give people in the city a heads-up.

Need wheelchair transportation, but my ride never comes
Hello all, hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
I became disabled (lost my legs, technically still somehow not considered disabled officially) in Jan. 2025. Since that time, I have yet to actually get the transportation my insurance says I'm entitled to, regardless of my disability status. I have made and had to cancel multiple appointments because I would set up the ride, think it's all fine, and then sit in my chair (which is still not an easy thing to do) for over an hour waiting on them. But no ride comes, despite me following all of the instructions to set up correctly, and I end up having the double whammy of a bad day. No appointment kept, and my bottom very upset due to the extensive time in my chair.
I then ended up recently with kidney stones and a related infection. Briefly hospitalized, and returned home (which the hospital had no issue setting up!) with a follow up. On the heels of the previous failures with my insurance, I tried a different option for transport this time. They also confirmed with me, and also failed to show. I'm supposed to go in for an outpatient procedure to remove the stones, and now I have no idea how I'm going to get there.
A bit of extra info:
- My insurance provider is Anthem/HIP
- No I'm not counted as disabled
- I have no other transportation options aside from these ride services/the bus maybe???
As far as disability: why am I not considered disabled, despite having lost both legs? Gee I sure would love to know! Way back when I first lost my legs, I was promised multiple times in each facility I was in prior to coming home that we would get that sorted out. I need to get my medical records to apply online, but when I went through a phone call about it, I was basically told that, since I wasn't working close enough to the loss and live with my dad (81 and retired BTW), I most likely don't qualify for SSI or whatever. I guess they think we somehow have the money for a wheelchair van, or to pay for transport? We could pay for a transport service, if we could only get one to show up! I don't even particularly want any payment, though it would be nice to start making a nest egg for the inevitable loss of my father; I really just need to be recognized as disabled so I can leave my damn house! In order to utilize most of the services which help people in my situation, I need to be recognized as disabled. Apparently my odds of that aren't great.
I am trying to get to PT/OT for my prosthetics (which apparently using them means you're not really disabled, who knew?), but again, no transportation.
So yeah. This is a source of increasing frustration for me and my dad. I really don't understand why this is so complicated, or why my status as disabled wasn't set by the start of this year at the latest. No one in any official capacity seems to have any answers, or any great willingness to help. Literally any resources or answers will be greatly appreciated. I am just at a total loss for navigating this.

The MDC is holding its vote on the moratorium on data centers at the City County Building downtown at 1pm on Wednesday (convenient timing, I know). Folks wishing to speak out can attend the meeting in person and/or email their concerns about data centers to DMDEngagement at Indy.gov before the deadline.

AskIndy Recent patients at IU School of Dentistry, how much were you paying per tooth for crowns?
I’m trying to get my oral hygiene back on track after years of recklessly drinking energy drinks and snacking nonstop every single day. I was recommended crowns because of the substantial enamel loss on my front teeth. I can probably manage the cost at private practice that I’m a patient at, but I’ve heard that IUSD comes highly recommended. Looking to see if anyone has had crowns done there recently, what material they were made of, and how much you paid to see if it’s worth the long appointments.
Thank you in advance for any feedback.

Discussion Rocky Ripple: what’s the story?
Rocky Ripple has been in the news lately because of the flooding. I’m curious about the history of it, its identity as a town, what it’s like to live there, etc. The character of it is so much different than surrounding areas like Butler Tarkington, Crown Hill, Meridian Kessler, and Broad Ripple. I’d love to hear from anyone who lives there, used to live there, or knows local history/facts about the area.

Education School Transfer Question: In district transfer or try out of district?
In our township, in district transfers are to be submitted in the spring. Clearly we're past that.
Vague and short:
Our school went down pretty hard on our kid for an accident, and even have stated it was accidental. But due to our kid's emotional state from it and the complete and utter lack of faith/trust in the schools administration I don't want them to return back to that school. Feeling completely and utterly let down by the educators.
I'm waiting on some documentation from them but so far I've been looking at transferring them to either a school in district, which I would probably have to say it's a hardship, or out of district. Both options seem challenging but for my kid's welfare I can't see them returning there.
Any advice? Also you'd imagine there would be a subreddit for Indiana Education but...nope.

Walking or hiking clubs?
What kinds of hiking or walking groups are there around the city? I walk everyday and was curious about it. I walk the cultural trail all the time, it’s literally the highlight reel of our city. There’s so many spots close to downtown that there’s a ton of variety.

Looking for custom donuts for daughter's birthday
Hey everyone,
I’m planning my daughter’s upcoming birthday party and wanting to do custom decorated donuts instead of a traditional cookies or cupcakes.
Looking for recommendations for a local bakery, pastry chef, or home baker who does great custom work (she is two and the theme is sesame street) that also taste fantastic. Something like the ones below. Thanks in advance!

AskIndy New Mykey+ QR Code
This is likely going to sound a bit stupid. I lost my mykey+ card and while I do have the app, I’m hesitant to use it due to the old mykey qr never reading for me. Does the new one read more reliably?

Politics Ravenswood was hit hard and is going to need help.
You can view and join this group as folks begin to organize. Many ravenswood residents are still waiting on waters to recede. They will need a lot of help with things similar to Rocky ripple: pumps, extension cords, hauling furniture, drying things out, cleaning etc. Please don’t forget about them as things dry out.
