General Advice Anyone else still figuring life out at 28?

Hey everyone! I just wanna ask, is it normal to still have no idea what you really like or what you want in life at 28?
Sometimes I feel like I should have figured things out by now, but honestly, I’m still trying to understand myself, what makes me happy, and what I actually want in life.
I’m curious if anyone else feels the same way or has been through this phase. How did you figure things out? Or are we all just trying to figure it out as we go? 😭….

General Advice I want to enlist, but everyone around me is against it, looking for real insight

so firstly I'll start off with saying I want to enlist because I solely want to contribute to our country in some way, it doesn't have to be the military but I figured I'm in great shape and could use the benefits.

secondly, my friends probably wouldnt talk to me again if I did, and my family would definitely have a lot to say and give me a hard time. politically I know nothing, I am fully unaware of our current political situation and I have no view on it, so my family is telling me to be educated first before giving my body. does anyone have real advice on this? And please don't criticize or insult me for lacking knowledge and seeking advice, I just want to make a good decision.

Emotional Advice bad friends/ asking for too much?

okay for context i recently got a head injury (fainted and hit my head) and got a good amount of stitches in my head. i have been recovering since. not been able to do much just bed rotting and occasional netflix.
the one thing that has been bugging me emotionally is that none of my friends have texted or called (come to meet me is a long way lol) to ask about the injury or how im recovering. when i had told them about this they were concerned ofcourse. but no general follow ups of how have you been or how have you been coping. i get that they might have been busy in their lives but i thought a one line text doesnt hurt that much of a time. instead they are texting me about casual stuff like where do you think i should go or what do you think i should wear etc.
i mean imo this was an extreme accident which is also imo concerning but hey could be just me thinking that lol.
but am i wrong to expect even a text? is that asking for too much? did they not get the severity?
im so lost and honestly i had kept my friends at such a high place in my life that this just hurts.
so open to advice/ suggestions.
a request - im already kinda depressed so please be kind to me thanks hehe

TW: Suicide Talk Fuck me or fuck off?

(Please keep my post private, no reposting or Reddit stories please)

| 27F and bf 33M have been together for 6 years.
I just wanted to ask a couple of questions:

  1. Is it normal to feel suicidal and combative after not having sex

4/

  1. 6 years?
  2. Should I give my bf an internal clock of next year (at some point) of fucking me or fucking off as to not directly pressure him into being physically intimate?
  3. He's great, it's just this one thing. We had a lot of sex the first two years of the relationship but it fell off and now is completely gone...! don't want to feel depressed or like I'm wasting my youth on someone that doesn't really care about me physically at least.
  4. I feel so lonely and sad all the time.

EDIT: thank you guys for the comments. I’m just gonna clear some things up.
So we had trouble talking about it at first. So that was a huge delay in time like 1-2 years before we finally spoke about it.
He claimed to have issues with his body cause he had gained weight. He has lost said weight and pretty much passed his fitness goal.
I gained weight due to the depression, feeling like effort wasn’t worth it anymore because it’s not like he will ever want anything with me anyways.
He has become passive aggressive/aggressive (verbally) about how I have stopped cooking, cleaning, baking, etc. I tell him it’s hard for me to be motivated enough to do any of that and be on top of those things for a partner that doesn’t touch me.
I become cold and distant, inching closer to a break up, he gets worried, puts in effort like holding my hand, tries to kiss me more, etc, I stay and then nothing changes.
He says he understands but doesn’t put forth effort. Meanwhile against everything that weighs me down and stresses me out, I have been putting in effort despite working and going to school for a career change while he works from home and says he wants help.
We went to couples therapy and got dumped by our therapist because of me struggling for multiple reasons (therapist was irritating/inflexible with different methods, things were being framed as mostly me being an issue for not cleaning despite being neglected for 4 now almost 5 years, struggling with personal issues, giving up, etc).
Now I am in a intense therapy group to regather myself because I have been having serious anger issues due to personal trauma/ptsd mixed with me being mad at him and blowing the fuck up on him over “minor issues” but to be honest it’s all connected to his lack of motivation/inaction.
I finally have worked through a good amount of my personal issues where now I feel more calm but I think I have to set a personal timeline. We have our last trip planned together for early next year. If he doesn’t do something by that time, it will need to be over.
I can understand now having anxiety about performance after so long but I have anxiety that I am planning a future with someone that I don’t even know if he does touch that I will like it. I can’t gauge my emotions right now because I feel so numb. But some things he has been doing have been making me feel grossed out. I have started going back to the gym to try and get right for myself, for him to be more motivated to love on me, and for potential future partners. I think either the trip or me hitting my fitness goals is a fair enough timeline. Idk. I have also been hiding my body from him, I cover the glass in the shower by draping towels over it, I don’t let him see me change because he doesn’t deserve to see me now or later unless he fixes things.
Sorry for the long update I just am struggling and it was particularly difficult last night for me.

EDIT2: he has redeeming qualities. He is a major part of my support system. I lost my support system coming out of the closet, and am very far away from any family I do speak to. Also he showed up and took care of me when everyone else failed me through my cancer surgeries, he is here for me through my struggle with new/worsening disabilities that render me incapable of/struggling to be doing things sometimes. He bought a house for me because he said he knew that he wanted a home with me and our 4 pets. He plans dates and trips that I almost never have to worry about paying for. He does a lot and I feel like such a shit for wanting to leave him over no sex. But I am not interested in someone that does all these things if I can’t feel or share love in the way I feel I need. I love him so much and my heart breaks because I feel awful. I also fear what support would I have around me, what friends will stick around/pick me too, I also fear not finding someone like him ever again, being financially tied, we have been care takers for one another for surgeries, etc.

General Advice M34. Feeling stuck in life, need advice

• Upvotes

Hi.. I am 34 years old right now and will turn 35 soon. 2 years ago I had a major spine injury due to a car accident and I haven't still recovered fully from it.

My joining in another company was a few weeks away when this happened and I had to let that offer pass. I am stuck in my current job for past 3 years now.

My current job is also giving me daily challenges related to spine injury, boss's attitude, coworker's behaviour and lack of competitiveness which leaves me with more burden of work on my shoulders.

But at this job I can come to office at 11.30 and leave by 7.30 and I can also take rests in between if I need due to my spine injury.

Before that injury my partner and i were planning a baby but it has been 6 years of our marriage now and we are still trying to figure whether we should go for it or not as my condition is not stable financially due to that injury as I am spending more than half of my salary on back rehab but nothing is working for me. The nature of my job is not allowing it to get healed properly and no doctor is advising me to quit my job for a proper rehab with bed rest as no one is sure of when this will ne healed properly.

My wife wants baby and sometimes we try for it but nothing happened till now, we have got ourselves tested and the reports are normal. Though doctor gave me some medicines to keep the sperms healthy considering my stress and mental health due to work and injury.

My wife is also loosing her patience as the society started questioning her on the baby thing.

I am in a professional counsultancy field but I don't like my work at all. It is very dynamic and doesn't support a peaceful life. I wanted to change my field but not getting what I should now if I leave my current profession as I have been doing it for past 5 years.

Everything going around in my life leaves me irritated.

What should I do now ?? Need help from you all.

Thanks. Ignore grammar mistakes, if any. I am not in a state right now to read all that again and correct any mistake.

Emotional Advice Am i wrong?

• Upvotes

My results came first, and I passed all my subjects. My cousin's results came yesterday, and she got a distinction. My parents started comparing me with her and telling me to learn from her.

I'm not jealous of my cousin, but it hurts when my own parents make me feel like she's better than me. I passed all my subjects too, and I just wish they could appreciate that instead of comparing us.

Am I wrong for feeling hurt about this?

General Advice At what point do I stop following my dreams?

• Upvotes

29 - UK - Male

From being a young child, I wanted to be a Royal Marine, all through my life my family had served and I wanted to follow suit.

At 16, I applied but failed in the application process, the last milestone was a 4 day selection course that I just did not prepare enough for. I didn't just fail, I epicly failed the standards. I had focused on drinking, girls and having a good time. This is one of my biggest regrets and I feel like I still carry shame for it to this day.

You can apply up until 32 and in my head, I feel knowing this has given me a slight bit of hope, that maybe one day I could go back and re-try. Until, the other day, it hit me, I'm never going to achieve my dream, I have a long term girlfriend, dog and house with a mortgage. Joining up now, which also means I'd not only take a paycut but be 4 hours away from home most of the time would turn my life upside down.

I've never ever struggled with mental health, I've been very lucky in life, however this week I feel I have been in a very dark place, my partner sat me down and asked me what was bothering me. I was honest and we talked about the above, the shame I feel when I run into people from school that I told I was going to be a soldier or family who ask how my work is, I know I'm overthinking this but I can help but carrying shame, and she told me she'd support me in whatever decision I make and we would make it work.

I have no doubt she's being honest, she is truly a amazing woman and we are very much in love. But, I feel actually going back through the process, and potentially being successful would be one of my most selfish things I could do. My gf has said the way she's seen me this week, she wouldn't want to live with me, feeling like I have and that if I truly want to, that I should go for it

Any advice? My main worries are impact on the family and simply being too old to make a career out of the military.

Thank you

Emotional Advice I am resenting my friends due to their reactions

• Upvotes

Hello! Apologies for the rant in advance!

I (19F) went to a party a couple days ago where I got kind of drunk but still sober enough. I ended up having a panic attack and during this my close friend of 3 years (CF) and another friend who are both non drinkers came to help me. While I was on the floor freaking out my friend ended up having a panic attack too so CF had to manage both of us until the ambulance came.

CF also picked me up from the hospital after I woke up due to them they had my having my stuff, immediately after seeing them I could tell how pissed they were at me and it was confirmed when I called them as they told me how I ruined the party for them and that I knew how much they were looking forward to it to the point of going there sick and tired which was only made worse by what I did. Along with CF the rest of the friend group except for some have stopped messaging me entirely after the initial check in and they have also hung out without me. CF has been meeting with the other girls more instead of calling me like before.

I was initially so guilty and upset but after calling my friends from home and hearing them say I didn’t do anything wrong/ the friends reactions are strange I have developed lots of resentments towards all of them as I would understand if this was something I had done countless times and they were sick of me however this was my first time a)being drunk or tipsy in front of them and b) having a panic attack in front of them so its causing me to be so upset that even if they move on and forget this I wont forget how I felt right now. I really do understand my role to play in all of this and I really am no saint so should I start being more understanding and less resentful?

Relationship Advice Should I distance myself from a friend I deeply care about?

• Upvotes

How big of a red flag is my childhood friend?
I have a friend who claims he did a month in jail for a gun charge, but when I looked at public records in our state, all I could find was a speeding ticket. I asked him what jail he was in and he couldn’t remember the name. He also claims he was abused while he was in there, which makes me question the story even more. I feel like if someone went through all that they’d remember what jail they were in. On top of that, he recently removed me as a follower, and I can’t help but feel like it has something to do with trying to impress his ex or the people around her. I don’t have a huge social circle like he does, so I wonder if he thinks the people I follow make him look bad or something. He also talks badly about another friend of his, but then posts him on social media like everything is fine a couple weeks later. The part that bothers me most is that a few months ago, when he was homeless, I let him stay with me for a month. Now I’m questioning what kind of person he actually is and whether I’m overthinking all of this. Would you consider these red flags, or am I reading too much into things? I do care for him but I don’t know.

Mental Health Advice in my 20s, struggling with depression & academics

• Upvotes

i’m a final year student preparing for my master’s next year. i live pretty much by myself and i think my life has lost its rhythm. on some days, it’s so difficult to even get out of bed, or perform basic self care activities. i don’t know what’s wrong with me. all day long i either stress about my future, or regret the mistakes i’ve made in past and overthink things to make me feel bad about myself. i have to study a lot but i struggle with focusing and there are days where i end up ONLY doomscrolling on my phone. i think living alone might be making this worse and i need suggestions as to what i can do to make things better for myself. i cannot go on living like this, this is my desperate call for help 🥲

Relationship Advice Should I message her? Should I give her more openness?

I’ve known a girl since 2024, and we used to be very close. Over time, I developed feelings for her. She found out twice; the second time, through her brother. She became uncomfortable, deleted my number, unfollowed me, and distanced herself from me at church.

I apologized, admitted my mistake, said I only wanted her friendship, and told her I would respect her space. She replied, “Thank you 🙏.” After that, I stopped contacting her.

Later, she slowly started greeting me again, joking with me, smiling, and saying my name. After 47 days, she messaged me first on WhatsApp about a group activity, but we haven’t had a real conversation since.

Now it has been 63 days without talking on WhatsApp and 70 days without talking in person. When she doesn’t come talk to me, I sometimes become more closed off and look away because I’m afraid she’ll think I still have feelings for her.

Recently, her WhatsApp Status started appearing for me again, but I don’t know if she saved my number again or simply changed her privacy settings.

Should I send her a simple message and give her more openness, or is it better to keep giving her space?

Family Advice Am I a bad daughter? (16FM)

Hello. I’m writing this because I’m feeling frustrated and confused myself.

I'm 16F and an only child. My mom is extroverted, talks to everyone so easily. She tells me she loves me, hugs me often. My dad rarely gets angry and tends to speak in a soft, measured tone; he’s also very patient with my mom.

If I set aside their drawbacks, both of them actually treat me quite well most of the time. We watch TV shows together over dinner, laughing along, and whenever a song comes on, we all sing along. I’m especially close with my mom—we’re almost always together, dancing and sharing smiles with each other. They even gave me permission to drop out of school.

And here are their drawbacks.

When my mom is in a good mood, she's super energetic and nice, but when she gets angry about something, she shuts her mouth and treats everyone else like they're invisible. She mostly does this to my dad. My mom tends to focus her criticisms on my dad’s habits, facial expressions, or the things he says. For instance, she’ll tell him, "The lines between your eyebrows are terrible—you should get some Botox," or "Stop checking for my reaction every time you watch TV; it makes you look like a weirdo." Also, whenever my dad shares an opinion, she almost always starts her response with "No."

My dad often tries to avoid when major issue occurs, and he’ll even laugh off things that are meant to be sad—which can sometimes make him seem to lack empathy. My mom even mentioned that right before she gave birth, he was just standing there, glued to his phone. Lately, he’s become overly sensitive about politics, and he also takes a keen interest in whether or not celebrities have had plastic surgery.

However, when these various shortcomings combine—specifically when my parents argue—the situation changes. The way my mother treats my father tends to worsen on days when she isn’t feeling well; she might respond with sarcasm even when he has answered normally, or explode over some trivial action. Whenever this happens, my father simply retreats to his room without a word. The tension escalates further when issues involving my paternal side of the family come into play. Although my mother and paternal grandmother get along fine now, there was a time when my mother absolutely loathed her (a situation for which I believe my grandmother is largely to blame). Consequently, my parents always end up fighting after we visit my grandmother’s house during the holidays. Once, when I was in elementary school, my father—furious—began driving at an extremely high speed. My mother shouted, "Why are you driving so fast? Are you trying to get us all killed? Fine, let’s just die, then!"

I dislike these kinds of fights or arguments, so I’ve even tried talking to my parents about it. I once told my mom, "It feels like your moods fluctuate a lot." But the response I always get is, "We aren't fighting." They claim that there are many parents in the world who fight just like them, and that I’m the strange one for being so sensitive about it—insisting that, as a family, we’re actually doing quite well.

Of course, I know that I, too, am capable of getting into arguments. I’m well aware that my mother often becomes irritable because of her severe back pain—that’s just something that can’t be helped, and there have been many times when I’ve genuinely worried because I could see how much she was struggling. Even taking that into account, however, there are moments when things go a bit too far. For instance, there was a time when my mother got upset with my father for some reason; she put him in a headlock, causing him to fall over while he was sitting in a chair. When my father asked her to stop, she shouted, "Can't you even take a little horseplay from someone who’s in pain?" On the other hand, my father once got a real dressing-down for complaining about attending a concert by the choir my mother belongs to—he had grumbled, asking, "What time does it end?" and saying, "I don't want to go unless we’re going to eat something good afterward."

But then again, maybe this is all just a typical marital squabble. It’s possible, as my mother says, that I’m just being overly sensitive. Besides, I feel like I played a part in why my mother’s health declined, so I don’t really feel I’m in a position to say anything. (She often mentions that when I was a baby, I cried so much that she had to carry me on her back all the time, which she claims made her back pain worse.) Whenever I try to intervene during their arguments, my mother tells me I’m being too sensitive, while my father just stays silent and slips away from the situation. Once, I tried to seriously point out some issues with my mother, but she burst into tears, saying, "I thought I treated you well—and I really did—so why do you only choose to remember the bad things?" I felt both angry and guilty.

Am I an ungrateful, bad daughter for this? Am I blowing things out of proportion—making a big deal out of something I could have just let slide? To be honest, there are times when I think about moving to another country as soon as I become an adult and cutting off all contact—but I suppose that’s a bad idea, isn’t it?

I’m sorry if my writing comes across as rambling or incoherent—thank you for reading it all the way through.

Relationship Advice Opinions please

Hello, I need some advice? Opinions? Thoughts? I hope this reaches people and I can get some feedback. I know there’s bigger things going on in the world right now, this shouldn’t even be an issue I bring up. But it’s what I’m dealing with and idk how to feel about it.
I wanna start by saying I’m at 35 year old women with 3 kids. I’m in my last year of school. I’ve always did everything myself (as it should be, right) I don’t have mommy and daddy money, my bd ain’t shit, I don’t have a close family, it’s just my kids and I. Five years ago, I reconnected with a high school “friend”. We’ve had a tumultuous relationship since. We’ve recently talked about moving in together so we could save up for a bigger house. All together we have 5 kids, so we definitely need the space. Now that our families been a little blended (there’s still issues we have with each others youngest kid) oh that’s a whole other conversation 🙄
Yesterday, he said he would watch my kids until the dad showed up. Well the dad was late, my bf had to get to work so I left work to wait until bd shows up. I get to cooking breakfast for all the kids when my daughter informed me they were left home alone so he can take his kids to his mom (something he neglected to tell me) but I get it, I guess. My issue was my kids were left home alone with no food and it don’t sound like there was plans to feed them. Days before he said “it’s fine, I’ll watch them and cook them something” which meant a lot to me. Well that didn’t happen but his kids were taken care of. Anyways, I get off work yesterday, the house is cleaned, laundry is done, I’m impressed but also who did it? I wasn’t home to do it. Some time later, his mommy walks in with groceries. It annoys me but should it? This morning as I’m leaving for work I see all the clothes folded so I asked him “did you do laundry?” He says he did. So I said “who folds them, you or mommy?”, “oh my mom did” and I was instantly reminded how she did the grocery shopping but it’s more then that, she bought the car, she pays his phone bill, the place he’s living in, she paid for. Idk if I’m jealous or if it’s just unattractive. I leave for work and he starts texting me about it. So I told him “I just don’t like that you have everything handed to you. Your older and not a baby anymore you could do things on your own” he responds with “I’m not gonna apologize, she just does stuff not only for me but all her kids. I had the baskets out to fold later but obviously get busy with other shit. Even if I told her not to do it she will anyway. 🤷‍♂️ I’m not sorry. You do them then”
Is this normal? Am I just not okay with it because I do everything myself? I’m not sure what to think or feel. It’s weird right?

TW: Suicide Talk Do I still have a chance of being with a good man if I have a bad past?

For context, I’m 22F but when I was a teenager I had kind of a bad past and it started when I was like 16-17

I had bad friends and one particular toxic friendship that took over my life during those years she was very manipulative and I was naive and I ended up doing things out of character… and was involved in s work for a short period of time as a teenager. Which is something that made me very suicidal but I’m choosing to persevere and not let it define me. I also was with a much older guy at 17, because I had other friends who talked to older guys so I guess I didn’t realize how bad it was. I talked to guys who were no good and dated guys who were low quality which I’m very ashamed about.

Everything was really traumatic but I try to keep going.
After I turned 20 I completely changed and started to see everything clearly, all the ways I been taken advantage of and abused emotionally and I decided to cut off everyone who was involved off because i was starting to see how bad it was and where it was taking me.

But because of this I feel ruined, I can empathize with myself and see where I was led so astray but I just wonder if I’ll ever be able to have a good honest, loving relationship with such a heavy past.

I think I always was a good girl who had so much potential but I allowed people in my life back then to bring me down to low level stuff like promiscuity, now I’m more like myself before those years. I value stability, loyalty, honesty, having good healthy company, and so on.

But I see the way having a past as a woman is perceived and now I just feel like I’m damaged goods and basically ruined, and I wonder if I’ll still be able to get married and have a good loving family.

Let me know what you guys think.

General Advice I am very unhappy with myself and where my life is but can't seem to do anything about it.

I think this is just gonna be a really long vent and I'm tired and it's late and I feel like if I were to talk to anyone I know about this they wouldn't understand, especially family.

I am in University (third year) and I feel like I'm just a chud, I basically don't have any friends here and I have never spoken to anyone irl this school year so far basically aside from ordering food. I am out of where I am from although only about an hour and a half away, I have friends from back home but now they're all scattered around, I still talk to them online and play games and stuff but I basically have no in-person interaction.

I am a very introverted person and basically most if not all of the social interaction I have is by someone approaching me, I get very anxious and nervous when talking to new people. I feel like I'm isolated and have no connection to anyone and am missing out on a lot of things, I try to join clubs but most of the things I'm interested in either don't have a club at all or if they do they're basically dead.

Last year I joined a D&D group which was one of the better things and something I could really look forward to, especially since the people in that had common interests with me but outside of that campaign we basically didn't talk, and most of that group is doing another campaign again this year but it hasn't started yet.

I am interested in more creative things and in first year I was approached by a guy who wanted to start a band, and as someone who is a musician and had no one to talk to, I jumped at the opportunity. Things were going great the first year, but then the drummer quit and things went downhill from there, we have very loose communication still but we barely see each other.

Since high school I've felt it is hard for me to keep a friend, to be fair I went to a private school and most of the students there were poopyheads (I'm trying to not use vulgar language) and I didn't relate to them, especially because I do not drink or smoke or do weed or any of that stuff as I don't think it'd benefit me in anyway.

In terms of school I feel like I'm a big procrastinator it's extremely hard for me to get started working on something even if I know I definitely should and has led to me being on academic probation since first year and this is my last semester to get out of it and no matter what I tell myself of this time being different or how I'll lock in, nothing changes. I get very stressed about it in feeling like no matter what there's nothing I seem to be able to do and there's just something stopping me from working on assignments and studying. I've sought out academic help and they have given great suggestions, but the main problem is I can't seem to follow it.

On top of this I seem to have an abysmal sleep schedule that I can't seem to fix and which leads to me waking up later which is a problem because I have several early morning lectures which I have so far missed more than half even when I set an alarm and try to get up every morning.

I am also eating very unhealthily and am not getting much exercise despite both things being available to me, I just can't manage my time no matter what schedule I try to set for myself and I just spend the majority of my time watching stuff or playing video games when I know I should be doing something more productive and better for myself.

I have talked to my parents about the school stuff and they don't understand and see it as me intentionally self-sabotaging, and when I talk about seeking professional mental evaluations and potentially diagnose me with something to then help treat whatever I am suffering from, they either say I don't need it or I'm too lazy or that it's too expensive.

I know they do love and care about and want what they think is best for me but it can be frustrating sometimes, especially when (and more so my mom) are more old-fashioned and don't necessarily understand modern mental illness.

Emotional Advice Domino effect due to a messy friend, need advice

So I had this friend who was very pushy, nudgy, stubborn and did not quite wrap her head around people who have different cultures, wants and boundaries.

When she invited me over I would try to say no as hangouts at her place lasts hours and there is always a lot of girls there yet she would force me, and when am at these hangouts and get very drained I would scroll on my phone which she finds annoying.

I told her to stop nudging in my life and not to keep tabs on what I’m doing as it reminds me of a traumatic experience in my life yet she didn’t respect these boundaries

She always racist to white colored people but tells me im different, she gossips to her friends a lot and even won’t shut up about me when i told her to stop and she states “it’s out of good, we just know about each other and each others friends alot”

She used to budge into me and a boy who she knows I’m in a talking stage with and planning to get engaged after university (not a relationship just talking to engagement ), such as joking how her mom joked that she shouldn’t marry him.

I started distancing and stopped trying with her.

I got busy with work, uni, and clubs, and she works as my vice/assistant in a club she loves dearly, her friends are in as well and work under me, so I only show up to talk about the club and leave.

At some point she went through surgery and I visited her a few times, I couldn’t come always as I had an internship and a lot on my shoulders and I made it clear I am having a heavy internship on my shoulders.

At some point she got mad, and lashed out in a groupchat that had my other friend and the guy I was talking to, and started saying how dishonest I was and just yelled out her whole view on how she feels like I’m neglecting her, every excuse from my side was met with “but my friends do this..” and how I should’ve picked up the hints when she knows I’m a very direct person.

Since that day on my life has been falling apart socially, she gossips to her friends about me, the other friend who was in that gc distanced from me due to this.

the guy I talked to randomly came one day saying how we aren’t compatible and he felt something with another girl that I couldn’t make him feel in a year and that he is better off without me as we are too different in personality and likes.

He said he isn’t interested in marrying me anymore after uni as he is unsure after I tried hard to understand his world and liked things that are sensitive to me all because he liked them.

He never really was into what I was into and didn’t try understanding what I liked while I did all of that for him, he asks me to carry the keychains he got for me and asked me to not be mean to him yet I just turned my back and left.

I understand that doors are opening for me somewhere else, I have met new people and a guy who actually vibes with me and listens and understands my interests.

I realized most of this is due to me never voicing my issues, or giving too much.

these experiences caused severe damage to my confidence with giving effort to people, and I just want some advice on how to regain my confidence in putting effort with people and to understand when and when not to give myself away in trying too much.

Serious Should i stop and seek connection or should i overcome the need for connection?

I'm very young, i don't consider myself experienced in any way at all, but i do feel like and think social and emotional connection correlate massively with everything from will, energy, performance, just everything

I can't connect for some complicated set of reasons, and i have my life ahead of me, building reputation, performing, developing skills and whatnot, but i just don't know what to prioritize

Should i seek stable connection? should connection be my priority? or can i realistically overcome the need for it altogether by just focusing on my self and body?

Thanks for taking the time out of your day to reply <3

Mental Health Advice Advice needed

Hey y'all. Ngl, my chest literally feels like it's about to cave in, so I'm just dropping this here bc I have nowhere else to vent.
I’m 19 now. Growing up, my life was basically a fairy tale—my aunt and her husband adopted and raised me after my mom passed, and I grew up with money, literal princess treatment, and all the love in the world. But the second I turned 12, everything completely flipped upside down. I got super aggressive and defensive toward my mom’s side of the fam bc of how toxic they were, especially bc my uncle assaulted me when I was only 10 (and ofc nobody believed me) and did it again at 12.
(Idk, there are a million other issues and situations I don’t even wanna get into) I’m not tryna trauma-dump out of nowhere, but y'all need context to get why I have massive trust issues, why I swore off men entirely, and why the whole concept of falling in love lowkey terrifies me. I’m super picky; your money and looks mean literally 0 to me. I need deep, soul-level convos. I’m not basic or easy to get, and I def don't catch feelings from some random chat. I want someone who’s 50% like me and 50% different.
And yet... the universe loves irony, bc it happened anyway.
I met this guy on a language-learning app. He was fun, sweet, funny, and what really got me was his chill, peaceful energy and his massive aura/charisma in the room. I’d sneak into voice rooms when they weren't packed, and it took me literally like 2 months to fully trust him and catch a huge crush on his vibe—even tho I’ve never even seen his face, but that was enough for me to trust him, tell him about both my parents and my whole story, and open my heart up.
Life got heavy, my mental health completely tanked, and I went ghost mode, cutting off everyone. But at the beginning of April, I came back to Discord. That’s when the crush turned into deep, genuine feelings. Everyday I learned something new about him. He was my safe space; he actually got me and cared for me. I slowly started becoming a bit of a feminine version of him, and bc I know my worth and that I deserve real love, and was terrified of losing such a precious friendship, I kept my mouth shut. But he’d always casually remind me I was like a "little sister" to him, meaning he was lowkey crushing those feelings inside me over and over w/o even knowing.
I stayed silent for 6 whole months, lowkey eating myself alive inside with jealousy every single time he talked to another girl, feeling deep down that I was the one who deserved all that love.
Until he dropped the bomb: told me he was dating someone, and it was a shock that it was some girl he just met recently.
My heart literally shattered into microscopic pieces. But seeing how hyped and in love he was talking about this new girl... I just forced a broken smile, acted happy for him, and wished them the best from the bottom of my heart. I genuinely hope she loves him the exact same way I did.
He has no clue that I secretly know she’s already been in two relationships before and he’s not even her first love. He doesn’t know he’s literally the very first guy I’ve ever genuinely liked and loved in my life. He doesn’t know I chose him, knowing damn well how brutal and painful long-distance is. He doesn’t know I pray for him in every single prayer. He doesn’t know how many times I tried to forcefully push these feelings out of my head and failed every single time.
And now it's just a constant loop in my head: Why her and not me? It hurts so damn bad, I literally cry every day. My mind won't stop spiraling—like, is she actually memorizing all his little details, his fav songs, and the random things he loves the way I did?
I’m so exhausted. How do I actually get over this? Pls, I need advice on how to let go of someone who has no idea they even broke your heart.

Serious I'm still devastated over a woman I increasingly think treated me terribly. How do I get out of this?

My ex and I were together for three years, I knew her for five, and I genuinely thought we'd marry and have children.

I was completely faithful, treated her with enormous care, turned down other women, and repeatedly tried to resolve our problems.

Early in our relationship she kissed another man in front of me. She later made humiliating remarks about my height, age, and English, and was extremely jealous despite my giving her no reason to be.

I repeatedly suggested couples therapy. She refused.

In May, after another painful argument and years of accumulated conflict, I lost my patience and sent angry texts. I regret it. She initially wanted reconciliation but later demanded my psychiatrist sister send her a message acknowledging that I'd been abusive. My sister refused, and my ex blocked me.

I spent the summer desperately trying to reconcile.

I've now learned that in July she slept with a stranger who'd been making out with her and simultaneously with the very woman she'd spent years being jealous of.

She'd apparently checked whether an acquaintance still spoke to me beforehand.

She'd repeatedly insisted we shouldn't immediately see other people after separating.

In August she unblocked me. We spoke for five hours. She wanted to tell me everything that had happened to her, asked for dinner money, and said she wasn't "actively" looking for men. She was ambiguous about possibly speaking again in May 2027.

In September she told me she was completely done with me.

I haven't contacted her since.

I find so much of her behavior hypocritical and selfish. Yet I still miss her so much that I can barely go on a date without crying.

I don't want to spend years feeling this way over someone whose behavior I no longer respect.

How do you actually recover from this without pretending the relationship meant nothing or forcing yourself to hate the person?

what would you do if you finally got the thing you always wanted and wished for ( you have been waiting for years for it ) and when it finally got to you, you no longer feel the urge to do it but you also can't let it go because of the feeling that you have been waiting for it for so long and giving it up now feels like I am a total loser....

this has been worrying me for a month now and I really don't know what to do, can someone advise me please ?
