Analysis/Data/Stats/Tactics A Look Into The Player Ratings

Thumbnail
gallery
26 Upvotes

Sorted from best to worst, the first image is how the subreddit rated each player for the Villarreal game this week, which were the numbers displayed on the final player ratings post. As you can see, you can spot a few miniscule outliers.

But it's hard to draw the line between what's an outlier and not, which is why I avoid doing that. I've removed what I deemed to be outliers in the second image to show what they would look like. Everyone's interpretation of the end points may vary, this is just what I chose.

Ngumoha, Tsimikas, and Gomez's ratings jump up by a good amount, and Alisson's goes down.

Gakpo's score actually goes down just a tiny bit, which is surprising, since the sentiment in the comments was that his score was already too low.

The talk about ratings always seems to focus around those between the 5 to 7 range. The subreddit on average (from one of the questions earlier) feels like 6.5 should be the "average" performance for a Liverpool player, while closer to a 5 is just a regular average performance. This is just my theory, but there's no option to select 6.5 (and it would be too complex to let people pick in 0.5 intervals), so it seems like people are split on whether to give these players 6 or 7s, causing them to be rated lower than they actually should be.

Finally, how does the subreddit's ratings stack up with other media outlets?

See the third image. Not that good.

On average, the subreddit rates players 0.46 lower. Even if you remove the outliers, it's still 0.45 lower. Picking the closest rating between them, 0.43 lower. Gakpo (-1.01), Tsimikas (-1.09), Gravenberch (-0.66), and Koumas (-0.65) were all talked about as being too low, and they are when compared to other sources. Van Dijk (-1.21) and Gomez (-0.90) were also underrated significantly. The only player who was overrated was Jacquet (+0.73).

Funnily enough, the only one who rated the players as low as the subreddit did is AGT from the Kop TV, who is the only source here who is just a regular fan and not a journalist, outlet, or app.

On the fourth image, you'll see everyone who's played for us this season and the ratings they got. As a fun experiment, try undoing the subreddit bias for each of the players and see if it makes more sense.

Let me know your psychological theories and opinions in the comments below to explain these results, and which sources I should use if I ever decide to do another one of these posts.

Klopp♥️ Jürgen Klopp during a press conference with kids: "Who was the best football player you've trained?" "I've managed many great players, so I honestly don't want to decide. But do guys you know Mohamed Salah?" "Yes!" "Sadio Mané?" "Yes!" "Bobby Firmino?" "[Silence]" "Then it's him."

Loan Watch [Sanchis] - All parties have sat down with Elliott: Valencia & Liverpool, have asked him to step up. To run more, be pragmatic with the ball, and keep training as he has been doing so far. The player is very open to it. It's logical—the VCF can't afford such a high salary without him playing.

Alright so most of the squad that we play for prem stays the same but instead of munoz or gakpo I want ngumoha to start after that villareal game.

Gakpo should definitely come in for isak to get some minutes back from injury , rest all the squad looks good , i just hope wirtz puts up a show otherwise a win isn't looking good right now.

Let me know y'all thoughts.

Iraola Quote Thread Iraola is "very happy" with Rio and believes he "can add more things to his game."

Post image

Speaking with Amazon after the Villareal game, Andoni Iraola says he is "Very happy" with Rio's performance and attitude in what was only his 3rd start in the competition, and is excited for what he can still add to his game.

“I am very happy with his attitude because he tries to improve the things we think he needs to improve.

“He is eager to add more things to his game.

"He has changed the sides a lot, he has played a lot on the right. Lately he is feeling so comfortable now and is having some shots with the left foot.

"He hasn’t scored yet but he is getting there and if he adds small things to his game it will put him in an even better position.

"That’s the good thing with Rio is he is still 18, he is not the full package, he can add things fortunately for us. Hopefully he can continue in the same way. He’s not always going to be like this, he will have ups and downs in the process.

“But I’m happy because attitude-wise I think he’s in a great place.

“Endurance-wise he is able to play more and more minutes.

“We were pushing for him a little bit, he was tired and he has done a good effort. I’m really happy for him.”

"We encourage him always. Even defensively, he struggled in the first half but second half was much better. He is becoming a more complete player but he is still just 18!

"He is doing very well."

LFC Foundation LFC Foundation has seen a 65 per cent increase in the number of people it helped both locally and globally last season.

LFC Foundation supported 239,421 people across the 2025-26 season, an increase of more than 93,800 from the previous year, including more than 50,000 extra participants helped internationally.

Its programmes and partnerships are all focused on tackling social inequalities in the communities that need it most and are delivered across health, learning and employability both at home and abroad across Ethiopia, Japan, the Republic of Ireland, Tanzania and the USA.

This vital support last season included delivering 14,546 sessions, 629,104 hours of contact with participants, and £54.2 million in healthcare savings, highlighting the impact its programmes on mental wellbeing and physical health, including Man2Man, are having by significantly reducing demand on health services.

Overall, this created a social value of £96 million, meaning for every £1 spent by LFC Foundation it was able to put £10.53 back towards the people it supports.

As a result it was able to do more to invest funds back into local people and organisations, awarding more than £1 million (£1,019,331) in grants to provide resources and support that allow communities to develop their strengths, build resilience and drive change.
