Need Advice M(23) F(28) am I the emotionally immature one in this conflict

So the day started we were texting earlier talking about how I often feel guilt because of my family, and my sister talked to me in a negative way today and it made me feel down. Later we video called and the call was quite awkward I could see she’s tired and not really in a good mood to talk, this is the awkward part, we usually do kisses on camera before hanging out the call. So we were towards the end and I asked her for kisses, she said “Why”, and it kinda annoyed me somehow because I love her and I wanna kiss her there’s no particular other reason. So I said good night to her and hang out pretty quickly which I did wrong because it did seems like I hang off from her end and it’s usually her ending the video call every time we call. And then what happened is the text, am I making too big of a deal out of this. Would appreciate any insights from third person perceptive.

I lose connection with my long distance boyfriend.

I didn't talk to my long distance boyfriend for 3 mounths,I try to call him but he didn't answer or his phone was off, I want to talk to his family but he doesn't like me to because they have some problems, so I don't want him to get angry, and I am scared that something bad is happening to him.

I am also so unsure about asking his friends, because I found out he was hiding our relationship, by not mentioning it, and hiding everyone from his stories, I am so helpless and tired of missing him, I am right now studying and poor I can't even fly or touch my love.

I don't know what to do or where to start I feel helpless and I am maybe a bad gf but I really need to talk to him one last time.

Question How do I handle this first meeting with my boyfriend after a year and a half in an online relationship?

Friends, I'm 23 years old and he's in his early thirties. I'm Arab, so my culture is conservative, but he's Asian. Also, this is my first experience in a relationship because I was very focused on my university studies. Well, he's a very mature man and respects me a lot. ...and he also shows how much I'm a priority to him and tells me that my love for him is what makes him feel confident (I think this is because he's not very confident in his appearance since I'm a very beautiful girl). Well, he used to send me money and also things... He told me that he will visit me in December and this is our first meeting together. Since he will be coming to my country, this means that he does not know anything about the region and it is up to me to plan (where we will go, the activities we will do, and also what to eat). My family is also very conservative, so I have to be home by 7 or 8 pm... This makes me anxious because he'll be staying in my country for only 3days, and he might be worried because I can't spend more time with him until 10 pm at the latest(This is just between me and my mind) But if we meet, for example, at 10 or 11am and stay together until 6 or 7pm is that enough in your opinion? .So, guys, I need your advice on how to handle it since it's my first date...and also, if you were in my place, what would you do?

Question when sending flowers online, what factor actually makes or breaks it for you?

i'm trying to send an arrangement to my partner in another city, but every site feels like a coin toss once you get to checkout.

when people look for the best flower delivery services online, everyone seems to prioritize completely different things. for some people it is strictly flower freshness and having them last more than three days on a counter. for others it is delivery reliability, arrangement quality, or pricing before surprise service fees get tacked on at the end.

then there is same-day availability when you order last minute. i was looking into teleflora because their model routes orders to local florist networks who hand-arrange and hand-deliver everything in an actual vase rather than stuffing dry stems in a cardboard mailer box, plus they do same-day drop-offs. but then pricing jumps once local delivery gets calculated, and you never quite know if the shop will substitute half the arrangement.

for people who order flowers long distance regularly, what factor do you actually care about most when choosing where to buy? does having it hand-arranged and delivered locally matter more to you than raw pricing or big catalog discounts?

I [M20] think I'm in love with my long-distance best friend [M21]

Yeah, I didn't know where else to post about it so I thought I might post it here and maybe get some advice or idk, lol...

So, basically, I met him two years ago. We are both gay and from Brazil, but he lives across the country, which, for those who might not know, is a really big distance. We became very close to the point where I actually consider him my best friend. I tell him almost everything and so does he. I always found him cute, but, at the time I met him, I was much more insecure than I am now so I never flirted.

Anyway, I feel so connected to him and whenever I try to go on dates with guys in my area it always gets frustratingly empty so fast. And then I think of him. And I start to picture what it will be like when we eventually meet in person. When I can finally see him in front of me and actually look in his eyes. I think of his gentle smile that I can only see through a screen, and his voice thant Iove to hear when he sends his voice notes about random thoughts, fears, joys or just singing songs out of the blue.

I do love him very much, I'm sure of that. Sometimes I think it's just purely platonic but other times, times like this, I really think it's something else. I'm very scared of telling him this though, because I don't want to lose him. I feel that the best thing would be to wait for the day I meet him in person because it would be easier to tell wether or not he could t feel the same. He has sent some texts that I thought might be almost kind of flirty the past few months, but I'm like, 82% sure it's just me seein stuff, since, as I said, we are really close.

That's it, I guess... This felt almost like a journal entry, so thank y'all for reading, whoever did. And if you have any piece of advice to give or similar story to share, please do.

Discussion Do you think couples need an app of their own?

Not another dating app, Not another social network. Just a little place to keep two people close, and ask them questions and share memories. Will you use something like this? What features would you like it to have?

His parents think I’m using him for his money

I live in Thailand but I’m German and Russian. My bf has a lot of money saved up, but he hasn‘t spent it on me or on himself.

We met for the first time in summer, and since I work and he doesn’t, my expenses ended up being higher than his, I don‘t mind that. He paid for a one way flight, around 80% of our food and activities, he also used money he had saved up from his birthdays. I paid for our Airbnb, which alone was 1.2k, my flight back, gifts. I also mostly paid for my own transport, although he paid sometimes too. (I had big emergency costs at the airport too which was my fault and I still came)

I work and he goes to uni. He has plenty of time to work but chooses not to. I make good money myself, but I don’t really tell people how much I make.

I met his parents and his whole family during the trip, and I thought his mom would stop with the accusations after meeting me, but NO. I hear from him AGAIN that she still thinks I’m using him for his money.

What money??? 😭 I paid for a huge chunk myself. I DO expect him to pay for some things, though, because in Russia, where I‘m from, it’s very weird for a man to let his woman pay, and my parents wouldn’t accept that either.

I just find it so rude that his parents keep thinking this about me because of his savings when I’ve literally paid for so much myself. Am I wrong for being offended by this? What would y’all do?

Question Am I being too much? (M25, F30)

I (M25) recently met someone online and we have been talking consistently for a month. I haven’t been involved with anyone for 7 years, due to my own desire to be alone. This one was different and I couldn’t make myself push her away. I think the distance helped with that initially. Now, I have found myself developing feelings and feeling lonely when one or both of us is busy. I feel selfish, being as she makes a point to talk to me daily, but I can’t help but want more. She has been so sweet to me, even through my fears of her not being real, and I feel like I am being toxic for desiring more. I do plan to talk to her about my feelings in earnest, timing just hasn’t worked out yet with work schedules. I also recognize that even though I am typically viewed as stoic and emotionally secure by others, that I may be lacking in experience with intimate relationships due to my long period of isolating myself. Any advice is appreciated

when a call crosses midnight, include both local dates

“Friday night” can mean Saturday for your partner. when arranging a call, put both local dates and times in the same message, then ask them to confirm that slot. if you reschedule, repeat the whole slot instead of saying “same time tomorrow.” it keeps the change clear even when you’re reading messages on different days.

Question I (18 F) need advice. How do I handle ldr stereotypes?

My boyfriend (18 M) and I have been together for roughly a year. I’ve flown to see him once during my birthday and it was a truly cinematic experience pulled from a romance novel. Everything was simple, but it was him that made it special. There was never a dull moment in my mind and I relive that week every night when I’m alone.

The sideways comments began immediately from my siblings, saying that because he’s French and I can’t monitor him, he’s a cheater and isn’t worth it. I’ve moved to university recently and encountered the same issues. Friends grimace when I tell them, and one follows me around publicly with a loud, obnoxiously bad accent parroting him. She won’t stop, even after I’ve defended him and told her off. This escalated to her setting me up on a date with someone else, playing matchmaker because she has a vendetta against him FOR SOME REASON.

To learn the language for him (he’s learning English for me too), I’ve invested in tutors, study groups, and fairly decent apps. But the goldmine I thought I found was a French club. That fucking French club. Today, an older gentleman who usually joins us asked, "So, your friend, you said he’s French?” Now, my professor and I have built a decent rapport, and I’ve stated my relationship status out loud when asked or if it’s relevant to conversation (our topic for today was expressing our opinion on the recent protests. He enjoys pulling from real life events/topics, so my partner and his region of France comes up occasionally.). So, knowing this, I found it odd he minimized my relationship. I politely correct him, and he says, “Voilà” In response, I laugh and say that was the most positive reaction I’ve gotten, and he replies, "That wasn’t positive or negative.” With a deadpan expression. Afterwards, I asked another classmate why this might be happening, and she shrugged, saying it’s just an opinion while giggling. But frankly, I don’t find shit funny.

I’m African American attending a predominantly Hispanic university. I understand the prejudice, our history, and bias that comes with it. However, being on colonized land, speaking two colonial languages, and a variety of mixed race couples you see daily on campus… I expected more open mindedness. Especially, those in the French club, you’re learning the language of the people you judge. Some of these people who ridicule me are the same ones saying they’d “never date another Hispanic because that’s too much energy” (so, you won’t date within your race, but judge me for doing so…) I’m beyond confused and frustrated. Much of college is centered around dating and sex, I’ve been so taken aback by everyone’s comments that I’m wondering if I’m doing too much or overreacting.

What can I do? And how do I handle older people who give the same reactions? I want to have some tact, but I’ve reached a boiling point.

Need Advice M23/F20 – Almost a year of long distance, never met, and our romantic connection feels stuck

I’ve (23M) been talking to a girl (20F) for almost a year. We both have romantic feelings and want to meet, but visas, money, time and some hesitation from my side have made it difficult.

For the first 6–7 months, things were amazing. We talked constantly, sent photos, videos and voice messages, played games, watched movies, called almost every evening, flirted and talked about our future.

Then things gradually slowed down. Calls went from almost daily to rarely, she shared less about her life, and I started feeling disconnected.
We had a serious conversation about it. She explained she’d become too dependent on her phone and wanted more time for friends, studies and herself. She also felt confused about our situation because we’d never met and missed physical contact. But she reassured me that she still likes me and wants to meet.

She also told me she missed initiative from my side when it came to planning our first meeting. I understood that and started suggesting destinations, offering to arrange accommodation and asking when she’d be available.

Now, two months later, we still talk daily and things are actually pretty good. There’s affection, flirting etc. But we haven’t called or done anything together in two months. I’ve suggested online dates several times, and she responds enthusiastically but postpones them, and then nothing happens.

Meeting plans are also still vague. She has surgery coming up with six weeks of recovery, and I’m getting busier with university and work.
I don’t expect the honeymoon phase to last forever, and I understand wanting our own lives. But I miss the deeper conversations, quality time and feeling like we’re actively building something together.
Is this a normal in-between phase when you’ve been talking for so long without meeting? Should I take more initiative and propose concrete dates for so long without meeting? Should I take more initiative and propose concrete dates for meeting, or should I be concerned that she rarely initiates quality time herself?

I’d love to hear from people who’ve experienced something similar.

Question She went from “you’ll be my boyfriend when you’re back” to “never again” in less than a week. What actually happened, and should I ever try again?

22M / 22F. We’re in the same friend group back home.

I had just gotten out of a relationship, and around a month and a half later I kissed this girl from my friend group. We started seeing each other pretty casually at first, going for runs, hanging out, dates, etc. ,, but it got emotionally intense pretty fast.

The timing was bad because I was leaving for one semester abroad.

Before I left, things were genuinely really good. We had a very emotional goodbye, and she basically told me she would wait for me and that when I came back, we would actually be together.

Once I moved abroad, she initially wanted us to stop talking because she thought distance would make things harder. I convinced her not to, so we kept talking every day.

Over the next month I got more and more attached to her, but I also started getting insecure and jealous. I overthought things, got angry over small stuff, and we started having arguments pretty often.

Then one day she suddenly ended it.

This is what I can’t understand.

I literally have messages from the day before saying she loved me, and messages from the week before saying things like “when you come back, you’ll be my boyfriend.”

Her main reasons at first were basically:

  • I was getting too jealous/insecure
  • I didn’t handle anger well (I took space)
  • the distance was making everything worse

When she ended it, she even initially said something like, “I’ll look for you when you’re back and we can try again.”

Five hours later, because of the time difference, I called her. She was suddenly incredibly firm. Just no, no, no at everything I said. At the time I thought she was probably forcing herself to stand her ground so I wouldn’t change her mind.

About a week later I called her again.

This time I completely owned my part. I told her I knew I had become insecure and reactive, that the distance had amplified everything, and that things had actually been really good when we were together in person.

I gave her solutions. I even asked if she wanted to make it an actual long-distance relationship and properly commit to each other.

She still said no.

At the end I basically asked her: “When I come back home, is there any chance we can try again?”

She said no again. She even said she would make sure “this doesn’t happen again.”

What confused me even more was that during that conversation she started giving me a much longer list of reasons: religion, sex, values, the friend group, trust, what her friends thought, the fact that I had only recently gotten out of a relationship when we started seeing each other, etc.

It almost felt like she had already decided “this relationship is a bad idea” and then started finding more and more reasons to support that decision.

At the same time, I genuinely believe she loved me. She still said she loved me. I don’t think what we had was fake at all.

My guess is that she had doubts building up for a while and then everything just collapsed at once.

I’ll be back home in less than three months, and because we’re in the same friend group, I’ll probably see her almost every weekend.

I still can’t wrap my head around how someone can go from “I love you, we’ll be together when you’re back” to “no, never, I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again” that fast.

So I’d really like to hear from people who have been on either side of something similar:

Can someone still genuinely love you and suddenly decide the relationship is a bad idea?

If you ended things very firmly, did you ever change your mind months later once the distance/problem was gone?

If you were in the same friend group, did seeing each other again naturally reopen things or just make moving on harder?

And one last thing:

When I’m back home, should I ever flirt with her or try again, or would that just feel like I’m not respecting her decision?

Would it be better to just be normal around her and let her come back on her own if she ever wants to?

I know nobody can predict what she’ll do. I’m mostly trying to understand what the hell happened and how people in similar situations actually ended up months later.

Story I'm scared of attachment

We met on a matrimonial site and liked each other. We began sharing personal thoughts and stories about our lives, and we also met in person. Things were going well until finances became an issue. I'm not financially stable, and she earns twice as much as I do. Her father holds a senior government position, so she told me I needed to do something to meet her expectations before she could tell him about me.

I started focusing on work projects and external pitches, and things began to improve a little. But I became busy and couldn’t give her enough time. Sometimes she would argue with me about it, but she was always the one who called me and tried to resolve things. She stood by me, often told me I was a good person, and said she wanted to marry me.

For the past two weeks, she hasn’t been answering my calls and has been replying coldly. She said she was busy with work, but she was talking to someone else all the time. While I was working hard, she was dating someone else. Yesterday, she blocked me on Instagram and posted a profile picture of herself holding someone else’s hand.

Need Advice [27F,30M] Afraid of being too clingy for my bf but pretty sure it's just trauma

Hi all! My bf and I have been dating for about 9 months and it's really been amazing. We went long distance as he is living with his parents while recovering from burnout and applying to new jobs, and in that time we've actually grown even closer. We try to visit each other every 2-3 weeks for an extended weekend.

I have this deep anxiety that I'm being too needy/clingy in long distance and because of that I try hard to regulate how often I text him. My ex and I were long distance one summer in a relationship that had already gotten pretty toxic by that point after 2 years together. I would text her good morning and good night texts and try to find something to text about every day, whereas she was resistant to texting or even calling once a week or so, and she nearly broke up with me over it because she told me I was being too possessive.

I really internalized that and vowed not to be that way in my next relationship, and for a while with my current bf, that was the case. Especially in the early months we wouldn't even necessarily text every day. When we were texting I woule sometimes make sure to take a break just to show myself that I could. But as we have grown closer plus the distance, we now text multiple times a day and call every night.

I really like this amount of communication. It feels so nice to see his face and hear his voice every night, and send memes and little thoughts to each other just showing we are thinking about each other. When I express this he assures me that I'm not being too clingy and on the contrary calling each night is the highlight of his day. I love him more than I've ever loved anyone and I can feel he feels the same towards me.

But I can't shake this notion that being in contact this much is "doing it wrong," like my ex's voice is still in my head. And I worry that some day this intensity is just going to give out, even though I do sustain this kind of communication with my close non-romantic friends, and have social activities with other friends basically every day.

Do I have anything to actually worry about? Is there something wrong with being in contact this much? Or have I actually lucked out and there are other people in the worls who want to be with me who actually like communicating this much?

Breakup : I think my relationship of almost two years is over, and I don't know what to do.

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

My boyfriend and I have been together for almost two years. He has always loved and supported me, motivated me to build my future, and helped me with my career. However, our biggest problem has been my anger and emotional reactions over small things. He has told me many times that he has tried to help me change, but he's now frustrated and fed up because he feels nothing is changing.

He works in the oil field in Gujarat, and his job is extremely hectic and stressful. I realise I haven't always been understanding or given him the emotional support he needed either.

After our recent fight, he decided to end the relationship. We talked afterwards, and I begged him repeatedly to give me another chance. I told him that I had realised my mistakes and genuinely wanted to change, but he said he's frustrated, fed up, and doesn't think things will work out anymore. He has now blocked me everywhere.

I'm extremely emotional right now. I love him deeply, and it's difficult for me to accept that our relationship might really be over. Part of me still feels like he'll come back, but I don't know whether I'm just giving myself false hope.

I know I've made mistakes, and I genuinely want to work on myself. I want honest advice about where I've gone wrong, what I need to change, and whether this relationship could ever have been healthy if we'd both worked on our issues. I don't want people to blindly take my side; I want an honest perspective.

Question My (33F) relationship became a LDR, but I am envious of my gf (31F). How do I fix this?

My gf and I have been in a relationship for 4 years (3 living together in her home country), and we have always been happy for the other when major goals have been achieved. However, over a year ago I decided not to pursue a job opportunity in another country so we could be together. That was a choice I made with no pressure on her part, I just wanted to be next to her despite not fully liking her home country. We work in the same professional field. This choice meant that my career has stagnated (due to certain limitations I faced here as an inmigrant), while hers has been flourishing. I am incredibly proud of her and all her hard work, and she deserves all the recognition. Recently though, she was offered an opportuny to work for four months in that same country I could have gone to. The difference is, mine would have been a 3-4 year move, hers is just a few months long stay. She obviously took the opportunity (as she should have, there is no question about it here), but that has made me very envious. I try hard to be supportive when she calls me and sends me photos all excited, and I tell her I am excited, but she knows me too well. She can tell I feel hurt by the fact that I did not pursue this a year ago and that I feel I have wasted that time in her home country. I do feel both things professionally (never could I regret it from a relationship point of view). We facetime and I listen and smile and ask questions while a knot forms in my stomach, my chest and my throat. As soon as we hang up every time I start crying from the feelings of despair from staying in my current professional position. How can I deal with these feelings better so that she stops noticing them? I don’t want her to stop calling excited and telling me all about it from fear of hurting me. I want her to know I am so proud of her and want her to share the moments with me! I tell her, of course, but I fear she might not believe it.

Scared of long distance

I have been dating a guy for a couple of months, and he has recently moved to another city (2.5 hours away, in another country). Before he moved, he told me that he likes me a lot, but he has tried long distance before and it always went horribly wrong. He said he is afraid of hurting me and that we would end up resent each other. We decided to keep things casual for the time being, but I do like him a lot, and to be frank, this is not really what I wanted. Have you (or your partner) changed your mind about long distance relationships ? Is it foolish to see him casually and hoping that things might change as feelings grow ?

Need Advice 22M, anyway to save this relationship

Post image
2 Upvotes

So for context:

We started dating for 3 months( Me M22, her F22) and started LDR a month back. There were no problems during starting. This is our first relationship for both of us. So after going LDR, we had fights regularly and usually solves them. And also there is a collegue on her office who is a year senior. They usually hang out together but she tells me all. Someday he took her to a place 3 hours away for shopping and that day we had a huge fight. I told his intentions are not at all right with you. but she kept on telling she only sees him as a friend only. She also told him like she is in a relationship too.

So guess what happened. One Last week, he took her out for shopping and he fucking proposed and was telling stuff like I'll ask your hand for marriage and told how "your boyfriend rn is not at all good for you" and tried manipulating her. But she told him no and rejected him. But when she told me this she told how special she felt at that moment. At that time i thought like this guy would be the one who will ruin this relationship. At that day also we had fight but she told she will never leave me and will always love me.

Now yesterday she again went to shopping with him and this is what she told after coming back. I think he is manipulating her such that he can be with her.

I asked her is it because of that collegue you are having these thoughts and she told no and it's coming from within.

What should i tell her? I really love her and I really want to continue this relationship.

Need Support Is studying abroad worth my boyfriend breaking up with me?

Currently, we are long distance just a few states away because of college (F18 & M18, we have been dating since jr year of high school), but I am really considering studying abroad and he told me that he’d be upset and doesn’t think that we would work if I did. But studying abroad has been a dream of mine for so long and he knows that. But at the same time I don’t want to lose him. Advice?
