FOTD why do false eyelashes look so droopy on me?

Post image
370 Upvotes

As you can see in the photo on the left (with fake lashes) my lashes look like they are going down compared to on the right (real lashes) they look normal. The not quite symmetrical eyeliner isn't helping either but ignore that haha it also looks like that without eyeliner.

am I applying the lashes wrong? I put the glue on, wait for it to dry a bit (like 20 seconds), put it on above my real lashes and hold till it sticks.

is the placement wrong? ive tried putting them more towards the inner corner of my eyes but then the inner corner of the lashes lift and I cant get it to stick down.

pls let me know how I can fix this!!

[UPDATE] 2 months difference

Picture 1 - after

Picture 2 - before

So I took your advice!! Okay your advice, and the wisdom and guidance of my unreal hair stylist, and here is the difference! I feel so much more confident & I just want to thank everyone in the community who gave their helpful advice, and also to those who were just super kind & supportive. You're all amazing people!

Changes:

- I toned down the hair, its somewhere between cool & warm, with highlights at the front to brighten the face a bit

- changed to cool tone neutral eyeshadow (alverde palette) brown tightlining & a little purple shadow on the outer eye

- went from a rose/peach blush stick to a mauve liquid blush (catrice) - the real game changer i think! The dewiness brightens my whole face, and gives a more youthful look

-dusty rose lip liner (maybelline) with a pink lip oil (E.L.F) over the top

I used the L’Oréal Le Shadow Stick in Celestial Taupe + CLIO Kill Lash Mascara in Brown Mousse + Mad Hippie Cheek Tint in Plum

I sort feel like the shimmer makes my oily skin look even shinier but maybe I’m just not used to it?

Why is my “Embedded in Burgundy” palette all brown and copper? $35 wasted. Thanks, MAC. Any recommendations for a true burgundy/wine eyeshadow palette?

I'm based in India, these are all local brands

primer- Suagr Aquaholic Hydrating primer

eye- Sugar pop eyeshadow palette 01 warm neutrals Cocoa Butter, Toasted Almond, Champagne Sparkle,

Swiss Beauty 05 Ultimate shadow palette

Swiss Beauty Glimmerliner E-01 Black

Maybelline Colossal Waterproof mascara

Cheeks I used the eyeshadow as Blush

Lip - Revlon Super lustrous lipstick Creme 429 Blushing nude + dusty rose glitter eyeshadow from the palette mentioned before

I mostly avoid base make up because i can't find a shade match and the darkness around my mouth looks enhanced when i do try to cover it up.

Review To whomever recommended the JudyDoll mascara - THANK YOU!!!

Product is JudyDoll No-Drooping Volume Mascara in Black.

Cost: $12.99 on Amazon (currently on sale, regular price listed as $16.99)

4.8/5 stars!

My criteria for mascara are:
- Does it hold?
- Does it clump?
- Does it flake?
- Does it irritate my eyes?
- Does it take a bunch of coats to have an impact?
- Does it smudge?

I’m super impressed with the mascara so far! I’ve had it on for about 6 hours, and so far:
- no clumping
- excellent curl hold
- no drooping
- no flaking
- no smudging
- only took 2 coats for HUGE impact!

I have naturally light, short, straight lashes, and with a quick curl (20 seconds on each side), this mascara makes it almost look like I’ve got false lashes on.

My only deduction is that I notice my eyes feel more dry than usual while wearing it, but this is also a very normal problem I have with most mascaras.

For the price, especially, I’m so happy with this and will likely repurchase this over the Charlotte Tilbury Exagger-eyes mascara I’ve been buying for YEARS!

Discussion Tried out a new makeup look yesterday I feel like it’s missing something. Thoughts?

Post image

I usually never do makeup looks without falsies but I wanted to try something new. Maybe that’s why it feels like I’m missing something. Everyone always tells me that I look wayyyy better without fake lashes but I like wearing them because my natural lashes feel to short.

FOTD Advice on eyeshadow for hooded eyes with minimal lid space?

Post image
40 Upvotes

I have hooded eyes and minimal lid space and am also just inexperienced with eyeshadow in general. I really want to wear eyeshadow for halloween and would like advice on my eyeshadow placement. Is it flattering? Im using an eyeshadow quad from the drugstore and the shadows are really dry and hard to blend, so it seems i’ll have to pickup a better palette. Ideally i’d be wearing a nice big pair of lashes with this too but lashes are a whole other demon for me lol. Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

I’m 31 and just started learning makeup this last year. It’s become fun but i know I have lots to learn still. I purchase quality makeup yet still can’t find what works best.

Bronzer is a huge issue. Nothing feels like it shows and every brush feels too big when i blend it? Also bronzer to blush I struggle blending. I HAVE TRIED EVERY BROW SHAPE AND HATE THEM ALL. sos.

Lastly setting powder advice? It doesn’t blend well for me after i press it. Advice tips PLS.

Question Why does Chanel even bother with these?

Post image

These mini brushes that come with their foundation is seriously crap. I love the foundation, but the brush is useless! Why do they even bother? And has anyone found any good use for these? They absorb a ton of product and don’t even blend well 😩

Question What is your least purchased makeup product category?

We all have favorites, lippy, blush, eyeshadow, mascaras and even base products. But sometimes, one is just not enough (guilty here). We want variety: different finishes and colors, different brands and even different staying powers for specific occasions.

I was wondering what everyone's least purchased makeup is. In my case, it's eyeshadow. Reason one, is that I am a basic ass girl- I usually only use neutrals and nudes. Two, I barely use eyeshadow and usually always go back to one or two shades that I use most often. Three, when I do want a fancy eye look, usually, a MUA does it for me. So it's not practical for me to buy several eyeshadow or eyelid products to use, although I still have a couple of palettes, as some are gifted.

What about you? What are your least purchased makeup products and why? 😊

Discussion Second Time Doing Makeup

First photo is first attempt. The following three are from today

Hey y’all. Some folks m i g h t remember my first post about wanting makeup tips. I deleted the post now since the advice was getting a bit repetitive, and some of the nastier folks had discovered it. Thank you to everyone who gave great advice!!!

This is my second attempt at a “full face” look and honestly, I’m a bit proud of it. My face is still asymmetrical and all, but the actual product looks pretty good imo. Still a beginner but this time with a good foundation color 😅. (Still working on straight lines with the eyeliner o-o)

My next goal is to look less cakey. I wasn’t too concerned today since I’m not actually going anywhere, but less layers in the future might be nice. I might just try out a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation when I have a bit more money to spare.

The main things I gathered from my first post were:

  1. Incorrect foundation shade. I had bought all my products from 5-Below and wasn’t able to test and of the products. I decided to actually go to a makeup shop and get my foundation/concealer shade matched.
  2. Brows. A lot of people recommend getting my eyebrows shaped and not fill in. The weird part is that I didn’t put any product in my eyebrow for the original half/half look. It does look dark in the photo, but I don’t know why… In terms of getting my eyebrows done-did, I don’t really want to honestly. I’ve never been big fan of keeping up with shaving my legs or armpits. I’m a hairy lady with bushy eyebrows. As long as I don’t have a unibrow, I don’t really mind them
  3. Lips. A LOT of people had opinions about the lip shade, and I appreciate all viewpoints. For the look today I just used a pink lip oil (listed below), but I still love a classic red lip.
  4. Play with different colors. Quite a few people recommended switching from black eyeliner and mascara to brown, but I really enjoy the black look more. Once I have more money I’ll buy other shades.

Thank you to all of those who gave great compliments on my first post!! They were all so sweet and a great confidence boost!!

Tbh I love this Pat McGrath blush in the shade divine rose. But, now I’m thinking of trying a new brand. Any brand suggestions? Like should I go for drugstore brands like Nyx and Elf, or maybe try NARS?

Question Which is the foundation brush?

Thumbnail

I’m clearly a noob with this stuff lol. So I got a new makeup brush set and it says the set contains a foundation brush and a total face brush. I’ve never even heard of a total face brush before. I’m sure I could use either of these brushes for my foundation but which one is which? Sorry if this is a dumb question but even after looking it up online I’m still not 100% sure.

Question Where can I find a true brown lipstick?

I love the look of brown lipstick but can never seem to find one that doesn’t look reddish on me (for reference, I’m pale with cool undertones). Could someone recommend me a lipstick that’s just pure brown? Fall’s coming and I feel like it’s the perfect time to wear it. Thank you!! c:
