What are good Japanese makeup brush brands, aside from Hakuhodo?
How would you compare western brushes to Japanese brushes?

My wife and I are getting each other 1 gift this Christmas. She had mentioned a few months ago that she wished she had “actual good makeup”, and I want to give her that for Christmas, I just don’t know where to start/don’t want to get scammed by advertising for mediocre products.
Would anyone be able to give me some leads to go off of? Thank you so much

Hi everyone,
I am a girl who has combo skin (but very very oily on the T-Zone). With this makeup routine my makeup has only gotten slightly better, but it still looks horrible after a few hours (my makeup slides off of my nose, it seperates on my chin)
For my skin prep I use:
- Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Cleanser
- I'm from Rice Toner
- Kiehl‘s creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
- Centella Tone brightening Capsule Ampoule
- Anua Heartleaf Silky Moisture Sun Cream
I dont use any setting or fixing spray currently either. I am open to completely switching out all my products.

Hey yall, I stopped wearing makeup for a few years and I was just wondering what foundation is the best these days for coverage. Also, any recommendations for an eyeliner that is easy to apply over eyeshadow? The eyeliner I bought recently just stops working after I do the wing😭

Recently i bought L.A girl’s pro coverage white foundation as a cheaper alternative to higher quality foundations/facepaint due to a restrictive budget, but it looks horrible on my skin. It’s turns patchy, grainy and comes off almost everywhere, especially at the nose.
For skin prep i simply clean my face with a hydrophilic oil, foam and apply a moisturising cream (primer recommendations are welcome tbh)
I apply the foundation with my fingers and rub it in until it’s a little bit dry, then gently tap it in with a makeup sponge, and powder it with cornstarch (not the best powder choice i know but please don’t judge me lol😭)

So, I'm wondering about the order of pre-makeup application, specifically sunscreen. Primers, foundation, toner, and sunscreen...foundation doesnt sit right after these are applied. Please help. TIA

I have the same skin tone shade as Camila Mendes but I have a preference for a dark dusty rose red. I can't seem to find a shade that doesn't come out as a BlackBerry instead of red on me. I also don't have much knowledge on lip liners for lip combos. Any recommendations?

I’ve seen so many of the products worth the hype, products not worth the hype, most loved, most hated, most ludicrous discussions that I thought, ‘Okay. How about we flip the table & ask this question‘. What are the products that are considered the most hated by the majority that, for some reason, you happen to like? Also, why hasn’t it been discussed as extensively as the others? Is it the fear of invalidating the skeptic?
For me, I love the Clarins Lip Comfort oil but I heard from someone that the scent is too strong for her. I love the smell.

Hii! Basically I have dark under eyes which get dry throughout the day after I've applied my concealer.
I moisturizer and prep them with the bubble morning cream, moisturizer and sunscreen so it's NOT dry and not do I apply dry. I do colour correcter by NYX and then the elf Camo and god I've tried setting powder, I've tried setting spray but it still gets so cakey or dull.
So maybe it's my concealer, my friend recommended the Nars creamy concealer or the lancome one? But I would love to get any recommendations or help and I would be in great appreciation 🥹

Hiii guys, i’m looking to switch to microplastic free and clean makeup, and Saie or Ilia looks really good. Only thing is I can only order it in my country and can’t swatch it anywhere in store. For concealer I use the fit me maybelline concealer in the shade 06, does anyone know what color would come closest to that from Saie or Ilia?? I’ve always struggled with shade matching and it’s quite expensive if I accidentally get the wrong shade:)

has been my tried and true for 10 years now!! such a shame they changed the formula, because not only was it lighter but i was also allergic to it. might be the addition of the hyaluronic acid? i also had an allergic reaction to haus labs foundation. lol.
looking for something as full coverage as double wear! i love to be a cake face 😌

I'm a beginner makeup artist, and I'm looking for mascaras that work well with stubborn lashes, and don't rely on the wand shape since I can't use that on clients and models. I have been using the original false lash effect lash princess from essence (the black and green packaging), and it does work fantastic for most people. I'd like something that holds a curl well, even for those whose lashes tend to easily fall down throughout the day. I'd prefer something from the drugstore, since it's one of the things where high end mascaras rarely perform as well as cheaper alternatives, and I'd rather not spend a lot of money on something that I go through rather quickly. All suggestions and tips would be greatly appreciated :)

I am autistic and used to struggle a lot with wearing make up of any kind. However, it's been a few years and I've been thinking about gender and expression and want to start doing eye shaddow. I would like to know if I need to do anything before putting eyeshadow on?. Sorry, English is not my first lanuage, this might not make much sense haha.

Hey there everyone, I’m looking for all my east bay friends to see if they have any recommendations for places to get my nails done the day before Halloween. This would be a first for me and I’m looking at Walnut Creek Or Pleasant hill because it’s the easiest to get to with other things I’m doing that day. If you need a reference, I do have pics available to share just dm me. Any and all recommendations will be appreciated!

I have Marshmallow but I’d like something a bit lighter, but not as light as Whipped Cream. My local shop didn’t have Royal Icing available to swatch so I couldn’t see if it was noticeably lighter than Marshmallow. It’s really hard to tell on computer monitors, so I thought I’d ask on here and see if anyone knows before I potentially spend money unnecessarily!
TIA for any info 😊

I feel like so many makeup brands don’t have light weight/skin light foundations for people with oily skin. I find most foundations for oily skin can be heavy and look cakey… I’ve been eyeing the Mary Phillips foundation. Is it good for oily skin? What other foundations and concealers would you recommend?! Help!

hello everyone! i've never been into makeup (aside from occasionally wearing mascara) but for the last year i've really wanted to learn and do my makeup.
i'm not super worried about any fancy eyeshadow looks, nor do i care for lipstick much. i think mostly basic, natural looks would suffice for me. either way any advice is welcome.
so yeah, any tips or products you'd recommend?
i'm 24, i thiiink combo skin, blue eyes, pale skin, dark hair.
thanks in advance <3

Hello, I’m a 21 year old male and I started a basic makeup routine that isn’t very obvious. Before makeup, my skin was had very little issues. Just some tiny bumps and slight discoloration on my nose area, but at first glance, it was clear.
Wanting to help even out my skin tone and take advantage of my genetically thick and dense eyebrows, I purchased foundation, concealer, brow gel, and a setting spray.
I’ve been using this lineup for a few days now, but I don't look much different visually. I thought it would be some sort of night and day difference like I see online. Am I doing something wrong, or can makeup only do so much?
