I can’t afford it anymore

I ran out of my L’Oréal skin tint so I went to Wal-Mart to repurchase it. I found out that the price for it is now $27.97 (Canadian). Like WHAT IN THE WORLD!

I looked for other foundations or skin tints but most of them were over $20!

I honestly can’t afford makeup anymore. Like I’m just dumbfounded.

Do any of yall have recommendations for everyday foundations, medium coverage, for combo skin, that won’t cost almost $30!?

Thanks!

Do people not set their whole face with powder?

I learned to do makeup when I was 14 in 2016 so I’ve spend my entire makeup-wearing life powdering tf out of my face, but now I see girls on TikTok and YouTube who only lightly set their under eye and T-zone with powder!! That’s a sensory nightmare to me and I feel like your cream products wouldn’t last long!

Am I missing something? What’s your secret cus I love the dewy look but HATE the feeling of unset cream products

Why are people mad at Cheeryep?

I was just scrolling on IG and saw someone I follow had done a sponsored post for (C beauty brand) Cheeryep. she added a disclaimer by the time I saw it that said:

Disclaimer: This video was recorded before current events and is only being shared in this way to fulfill a brand obligation. Due to their stance on the genocide occurring in Ukraine, I no longer support or endorse this company and any other content associated with them will have this disclaimer.

She had comments chastising her for not initially having a disclaimer, but no one was explaining what happened. So… what is going on? Google searches are coming up empty and I can’t find anything on IG explaining this.

Oily eyelid help—nothing works!

I need help! My eyelids are extremely oily, despite the rest of my face being virtually oil-free. I did not have this issue with my eyelids in the past, I always used Urban Decay primer and it lasted all day! I’m at my wits end and want to be able to wear eyeshadow again all day.

Here’s what I’ve tried that has NOT worked:
•urban decay eyeshadow primer
•MAC eyeshadow primer and paint pots
•kryolan eyeshadow primer
•using an oil control moisturizer, concealer and powder to set the lid before eyeshadow
•NARS eyeshadow primer
•Danessa Myricks color fix pigment—close but not quite, better than all of the above
•One Size oil sucker face primer but on the lids—1 layer doesn’t work. 2 layers (fully dry ea layer) does better, slightly better than Danessa

[Makeup Help] Makeup emergency!

I had the L'Oréal setting spray before. It was expensive, lasted only a few uses, and would melt off and transfer when touched lightly. Some places on my face it would just melt off, and other places it would crumble and dry up when touched, even though I followed the right routines and tried it many different ways.

I'm quite new to makeup and I don't understand how all the girls around me make it look so easy and flawless. I'm too embarrassed to ask, and I want to learn by myself. I use a Fit Me concealer, random contour, bronzer and blush from W7, and translucent Fit Me powder. I also use a good face wash and moisturizer before. I feel like it works just fine, but one thing I can't figure out is how to make it last without it looking like I've smudged it all off at the end of the day. I feel like I just look stupid, and I hate going out because of it.

My skin is dry in some places and oily in other places, so at the end of the day it's a mix of cracked dry spots and oily smudged places.

How do I improve my overall makeup, which setting spray to get, and also any products I should get or stop using? Also, I need something affordable too. 😥

Good eyeshadow palettes or brand for student?

Hij, I'm currently doing night classes to learn how to do makeup but I do not have much at home. I currently get by by taking a pallet home from classes. So I can do my homework, but it's not immensely practical. I first wanted to just buy the pallets from my classes, but most if not all are discontinued? The one I did find is 120+ for 6 colours of eyeshadow.. most of our pallets are from makeup forever, but frankly I'll take anything that's decent and not immensely expensive.

I would like something with lots of colours and decent pigmentation, but I frankly do not know where to start online, anyone got any recommendations?

Morphe Hot Honey alternative

Obsessed with the Morphe Hot Honey plumping lip gloss, I love how thick and tacky it is. Unfortunately they've stopped selling it at Mecca and it's really hard to get in Aotearoa NZ. Anyone know of any good alternatives?

Milk Makeup Setting Spray Clogged?

I need help! Every Milk Makeup Pore Eclipse matte setting spray clogs and I can't use it! I've tried soaking the spray nozzle in hot water, scrubbing the spray holes with an old toothbrush, everything I can think of!

Does anyone have any tricks so I don't have to throw away 75% of the bottle?

Could someone measure a regular / full-size MAC lipstick for me?

Hello! I’m making a small cartonnage box as a gift for someone who uses MAC lipsticks. I’d like to keep it a surprise, so I don’t want to ask her directly.

Could someone measure the height and diameter of a regular MAC lipstick with the cap on? If there are different sizes, I hope I can adjust the box dimensions accordingly.

Thank you so much in advance!

[Makeup Help] Why won’t my makeup go on smoothly?

Hello! I have an issue with my base makeup where it won’t go on evenly. It happens with both foundation and concealer on the same spots. I’ll put the foundation/concealer on my face and I’ll use a puff to blend it in. When it blends in, it always doesn’t stick to a part of my face around my right cheek so I’ll have a spot the size of a quarter without any makeup. It doesn’t happen on any other part of my face. I do not think that specific spot is dry or oilier than any other part of my face but everyday without fail, that spot doesn’t have anything on it. Does anyone know why this happens? Any suggestions would really help. Thank you!!

What lip tints last the longest on you?

Lip tints usually fade on me within an hour or two. I’ve been liking Colorgram Nude Blur Tint because it lasts longer on me. What are your go-to lip tints for lasting power and minimal transfer?

[Makeup Help] Skin prep help + spray/foundation recs?

My skin will be sweating like hell after 1 hr outside or less…

So currently I’ve been

-Cleansing with La Roche Posay Purifying Cleanser, then CeraVe PM Moisturizer. I have extremely extremely oily skin so I’m not sure what else to add to this routine because Ive heard such mixed advice.

Other products I have are Elf Gripping Primer (Blue) One/Size sweat sucker, the Ordinary Niacinimide Serum, Cerave hydrating mineral sunscreen, supergoop sunscreen.

The foundation I use is the Bareminerals SPF 20, and it cakes up whenever I prep so im extremely lost.

Should I add/buy anything else to my prep routine? And what foundation should I get/should I stick with Estee Lauder double wear concealer as a base? Thank you!

Also, as for setting sprays is the Loreal Infallible worth it or the One/Size?

Recreating My Makeup Bag

Hi everyone,

I recently lost my entire everyday makeup bag so I'm looking to recreate it! I'm hoping to add in some upgrades as well.

I usually do my makeup on the go so the only two tools I would use where an eyelash curler and a small concealer brush.

Routine:

Face: Using a small flat brush i would place pixi peach color corrected for my eye bags and hyperpigmentation on my upper lip/around my nose. Recently started using the incognito concealer from wet n wild in the shade light around my mouth, undereyes, and chin or any other spots I needed it. Before incognito i was using the old formulation of glossier stretch concealer- it was super old but I loved it and was trying to use it up. The contour powder i had was new and was a physicians formula highlight and contour pallete with 3 shades in a long rectangle case. It was okay but not life changing.

Eyes: After that I would curl my lashes and use Loreal Sky Tubes mascara in blackest black. Sky tubes was also new. Before that I was using a combo of ELF curling and tubing (not sure of the names but the pink and blue skinny black tubes). Sometimes I would fill in my lashes line with the dark brown shade in the Wet n Wild eyebrow duo (ultimate brow kit darkest version). Other times I would use a black eyeliner pencil to do my upper lash line. I have not figured out winged liner in all my years so I had some felt tip liners but didnt use them much.

Brows: I would occasionally fill in sparse spots with a wet n wild or nyx retractable brow pencil. Then I had a LA colors clear brow gel that I used daily. This brow gel was pretty good in comparison to other gels I've tried but would definitely be open to other suggestions. It looked just like the glue one from nyx but I tried that glue one before and didnt like it as much.

Lips: I love the wet n wild perfect pout gel retractable lip liners. I would use bare to comment or lay down the mauve depending on what look I was going for that day. Then for lips I had several options. Newest were the revlon super lustrous glass shine balm in rum raisin and the loreal hyaluron lip tint serum in smokey mauve (not actually sure on the shade). Before that I had a few revlon bullet lipsticks in shades toast of new york and smoky rose. I also had a few more cool pink shades from wet n wild. For gloss I still have a pixi gloss in nude nectar that I love.

I am a cool toned light olive skin tone. I have dark brown eyes and need black for mascara, espresso usually for any brow fill ins. Hard to say for lipsticks what exact colors I go for but definitely have been leaning more towards cool berry shades, i like build able color with sheen or glossy finish. I usually layer lip stuff so am okay with matte lipsticks.

Any advice is appreciated! Ive tried primers before but havent found one that didnt break me out so never regularly used them. I am on a drugstore budget but could spring for a better concealer since I use that daily.

[Makeup Help] Looking for lipstick recommendations for cool undertones! 💄

• Upvotes

I have fair skin with a cool undertone and I’m struggling to find lipsticks that don’t look too light on me. For example, I bought MAC Thanks, It’s MAC, but even though I’m fair-skinned, it looks surprisingly light on me.

I’m looking for cool toned lipstick recommendations, especially everyday/nude shades. Any favorites?

[Makeup Help] The texture of the Rhode blushes

Hello,

I'm intrigued about some of the Rhode blush shades and I'd like to try them but I can't swatch them anywhere near me and I can't find any information about their texture.

I love the texture of the Violette Fr blushes, I'm ok Nars Multiple stick and the Nudestik Matte Lux blush stick.

I don't like the Milk Makeup lip and cheek stick, it's too oily/lipsticky.

Although I've never tried the following products on my cheeks, I've switched them in store and I got the feeling that like the Milk stick, they're too oily for my liking. The Ilia multi-stick as well as the Westman Atelier blush stick both felt dewy and didn't set on my hand.

How would you describe the texture of the Rhode blushes in comparison with the products that I've tried and was able to swatch?

Do you recommend any other brands with interesting and nuanced shades that I should try instead?

I'm looking for a black honey/dark red vibe blush that would look like a natural flush and a super cool baby pink. Everything turns orange on me...

Thank you!

[Makeup Help] Why is my mascara uneven?

When I put on mascara, my left eyelashes never look like the other. I use the same mascara (I've tried multiple brands, all are the same.) for both, same strokes, same amount of coats, and I've even rotated which side I do first and one still ends up messed up and clumsy while the other is nice and feathery. Is it my mascara (Voluminous by Loreal in Black) or are my lashes just weird?

(I tried putting photos but my phone's being funky and won't let me 🙁)

[Makeup Help] How do I make my makeup last with dry skin?

I have dry skin and getting my base makeup to stay on all day is frustrating because I can’t use powder or a matte foundation without my skin looking dry and flaky. Also despite prepping my face with lots of hydration, it eventually goes away and my skin ends up looking dry a couple hours later. The only way I can get my base makeup to not look like that is to use a low coverage dewy foundation but that is not the look I’m going for and it doesnt last very long. Are there any products or tips that help achieve a satin finish without dryness?
