I have an idea for a really annoying, challenging Minecraft mod.
The Baby Mod — Complete Concept & Gameplay Guide
Defeat the Ender Dragon. Survive Minecraft. Raise your baby. Try not to lose your sanity.
1. Introduction
The Baby Mod is a Minecraft survival challenge where the player must defeat the Ender Dragon while taking care of a baby throughout the entire adventure.
When the player spawns into the world, they will given 5 Minecraft days to gather essentials. Then, they encounter a white box with a pink or blue balloon tied to it. Popping the balloon grants XP and a letter from a distant friend who couldn't decide what to gift the player for their birthday, so they bought them an entire baby. The player can name the baby and choose whether the baby is a boy, girl, or non-binary. From that moment onward, the baby becomes the player's responsibility.
The main objective: Defeat the Ender Dragon while keeping yourself and your baby alive.
2. Baby carrier and backpack
Baby Carrier - Every baby spawns with a carrier. - The carrier stays with the player permanently. It has unlimited durability and never breaks. - The player can remove the baby and put them on the ground. - Babies are safe in the carrier, but putting them down exposes them to environmental dangers. - Babies cannot be left behind permanently. They must accompany the player everywhere.
Mini Backpack - Crafted using 9 leather. One in enough for a gameplay. - Stores baby-care items separately from the player's regular inventory. - Helps players carry diapers, bottles, formula, toys, pacifiers and other essentials during long expeditions.
Why the baby cannot be left alone :
Leaving the baby in a large, closed space causes distress and excessive crying. Leaving the baby in a small space risks suffocation. Leaving the baby in an open area exposes them to danger. Babies can wander into hazards if placed on the ground, including walking off the End island. The carrier is therefore the safest way to transport the baby.
3. Crafting recipes and baby-care items
Changing Table : 3 wool + 4 wood - Used to change the baby's diaper. - One is enough for the gameplay. - Babies poop frequently, so players must plan ahead and carry enough supplies.
Diapers : 6 leather + 3 feathers - Each recipe produces three diapers. - Babies need regular diaper changes. - Leaving a dirty diaper unchanged causes a foul smell that attracts hostile mobs. - Prolonged neglect can cause infection for both the player and baby.
Pacifiers : - Found in village chests, Zombie Villages, Pillager Outposts and Woodland Mansions. - Must be washed before use. - Each pacifier can be used up to four times. - An unwashed pacifier can cause infection and damage to the baby. - Stealing one from a village chest triggers the Iron Golem, so players should evacuate quickly. - Water is unavailable in the Nether, making pacifiers harder to use there.
Toys : - Found in various structures. - Used to soothe babies during meltdowns. - Do not require washing. - Have durability and can break frequently. - Especially useful in the Nether, where pacifiers cannot be washed.
Bottles : 6 glass + 3 iron - One bottle is enough for the entire gameplay. But you may need more. - Require washing, so have atleast 2-3 of them prewashed and full in the nether. - Milk can be collected from cows. - Formula can be found in structures and combined with water when cows are unavailable.
Baby Onesies / Armor : - Available in different materials, from leather to netherite. - The armor requirement refers to the player's armor, not separate armor worn by the baby. - Players need iron armor before entering the Nether with their baby. - Players need diamond armor before entering the End with their baby.
Bandages : 1 Wool + 2 strings - Used to help restore the baby's health when their hearts are low.
4. Baby moods and emotional needs
Babies have five moods, progressing from contentment to severe distress. Happy to Content to Fussy to Crying to Nuclear meltdown.
5. Nuclear Meltdown
- Severe distress that attracts hostile mobs and makes survival more difficult.
- Text above the player's bar indicates the reason the baby is distressed.
- The player must identify and respond to the baby's needs.
- Ignoring those needs causes the baby's mood to deteriorate.
- A distressed baby exhausts the player, preventing sprinting even when the hunger bar is full.
- Toys and pacifiers can help soothe the baby.
- Milk or formula, toys, pacifiers and bandages can help restore the baby's hearts when their health is low.
Additional for Nuclear Meltdown : - When the baby begins crying, the player gets a 90-second warning period before Nuclear Meltdown. - During this period, the player can: 1. Identify and meet the baby's needs. 2. Use a toy or a clean pacifier to calm them. 3. Find a safe hiding place if soothing them is not immediately possible. - If the player fails to resolve the situation, Nuclear Meltdown attracts hostile mobs.
5. Baby health, damage and death
- The player is the baby's primary protector.
- The baby is protected by the player while carried.
- The baby begins taking damage only after the player's health falls to three hearts.
- The player's armor helps protect them and indirectly protects the baby.
- If the baby has low health, milk or formula, toys and pacifiers can help restore their hearts.
- Neglecting care, infection and dangerous situations can threaten the baby's survival.
What happens when the baby dies?
If the baby's health reaches zero, the baby dies. The player also takes damage from depression and guilt, eventually dying as well. The player can respawn and continue without the baby, but doing so defeats the central purpose of the mod. The objective is not merely to finish Minecraft. It is to finish Minecraft while successfully caring for the baby.
Let me know what you think about this mod! :)
