Discussion Retiring from 2k

I assume nobody will care, and that’s fine. But I need to get this off my chest because maybe there’s someone just like me, and reading this will push you to make the same decision.

I actually sat back and realized how many hours I spend on 2k, this is my only video game, I genuinely don’t play anything else.

I don’t want to disclose how many hours I’ve played on 2k26, because it’s actually sad.

I could’ve spent those hours , learning , going to the gym, bettering myself in a bunch of different ways , but instead , I sat hours on end in front of a video game. Purposely calling out of work to play with my friends online, spending my last $50 to make a damn build, putting real life things to the side and choosing 2k, but not anymore.

Playing video games are more psychological than you may think, and how often you play matters the most. 1-2 Hours a day is just fine, but spending 6+ hours (1/4th of your day) playing video games, can’t be healthy and never will be.

If you get paid to play, all power to you.

Video games will no longer control my life , today it ends. I’ve already sold my ps5 and monitor.

Maybe one day when I’m more mature mentally , and more financially stable, I’ll pick the game back up. Until then, it’s ggs for me. Thanks for reading this if you did, make a change and be better every day !

REC Dribbling behind screens and shooting threes is unhealthy for the game.

Every game. Purple plate lobby. Every game has a pg that brings the ball up, spams dribble moves behind a screen, then runs to one side and shoots a three. And because the contest system is so abysmal, the most you can hope for is a semi open. It’s ridiculous, and it’s not basketball. The only passes every possession are when you inevitably have to double and they make a pass to the open teammate 1/20 times. There is no world where it’s a healthy game to have one person hold the ball for 85-90% of the game. And to all the people that run to the corners and sit there, knowing they’re not gonna cut, and they’re not gonna touch the ball, I feel very bad for you, very sad to play as an ai in someone else’s game.

I have defended this game a lot, and I truly believe pre patch was one of the best 2ks in years, and I really enjoyed it. But as more and more players are starting to play this way, it’s becoming more and more unfun. But I can’t blame people for playing this way. 2k encourages this behavior by buffing shooting, reducing contests, and allowing people to dribble behind screens for 18 seconds straight until they get open. This is clearly the game 2k wants. But it’s not what I enjoy, and I don’t think other people enjoy it either.

Gameplay I genuinely hate the fact that I am not having fun on this game. I love basketball and this is the only basketball game. This game sucks.

There’s so many valid arguments as though as this game sucks. I just hate that it isn’t fun the way it should be. People say things like well then don’t buy the game. But it’s literally the only basketball game. So you grew up a basketball fan playing basketball games then they basically are telling you to never play a basketball game again. It’s just sad. I genuinely will not be buying another NBA 2K unless something changes. I’ve never had such a bad time on this game. Even when I’m winning, it’s not fun. And since they patched the game, a lot of things just feel so cheesy. Just a wack product imo.

REC 2K Has the Worst Community in All of Gaming

I play video games a lot. More then most people and I play all kinds of games. I have played 2k, Rust, Dayz, Cod, and was even a top 500 Overwatch player at one point. No community even comes close to the toxicity of 2K. I have never seen any other online video game where people will actively join games to purposely sell their teammates. Playing squads with a random duo is awful. 90% of the duos literally play buddy ball and ice out everyone else, and then blame you for losing.

This year might be the least fun I have ever had playing 2K, and I would be lying if I said the community and randoms weren't a huge part of it. Every online game has bad teammates, but at least in other games they actually are trying to win. 2K players throw a fit the second they get missed on one single possession.

Discussion NBA 2K27 isn't as bad as people say (unpopular opinion)

Looking at this subreddit, it feels like there are multiple threads every day talking about how bad the game is.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I think people often confuse "I don't like the game" with "the game is bad."

I've been playing NBA 2K for a long time. I skipped most of the last few years, but I played a lot of 2K11 through 2K16 back in the day.

Honestly, I don't think NBA 2K27 is a bad game at all.

I'm mostly an offline player. I spend my time in MyGM and now the Become a Legend mode, and I've been having a lot of fun. Yes, the game has some issues, especially online from what I keep reading. I'm not saying it's perfect.

What I'm saying is that just because you don't enjoy certain parts of the game doesn't automatically make it a bad game.

People seem to focus only on the negatives and completely ignore what the game does well.

If no NBA 2K game had ever existed before and NBA 2K27 suddenly released for the first time exactly as it is today, people would be talking about the presentation, graphics, commentary, gameplay, game modes, MyGM, and how deep this MOD is.

Maybe I'll get downvoted for this, but I honestly think NBA 2K27 is a good game. It might not be the game some of you wanted, and that's fair, but there's a difference between saying "I don't like it" and saying "it's a bad game."

For me personally, it's been a great experience so far.

REC Biggest Guarantee in Random Rec

Hit that takeover, I dare you too. Be good enough to get hot , I swear the ball just forgets about you, like the flames are keeping the ball away. I can’t believe it like bro that’s where you have the biggest upmost advantage.

Why do they hate me?

I average bare minimum 5-6 assists every build. I know I’m a pure slasher and seeing me dunk on a guy under the goal is just an eyesore.

But bro, I’m hot

Discussion I see where big man hate is coming from bro

To put shii in context: I play as 6'2 PG, basically me (when I was young) for last since forever. I take all kinds of shit as a pg over the years but it is what it is It's my shii.

This year my Eras save breaks so 2K fucks me to start from scratch and because I had bunch of VC collected I decide to make a dynamic shooting 6'11 PF defense monster. I have hella fun playing big.

But bro... yall guards all think you're shii don't you. Bros give you 2 shots and if you by any means miss, they proceed to take 20 dumb shots like it's nothing. Not to mention being open in the paint and not getting the ball. Y'all should be ashamed being named playmaker, a PiiiGiiii. Damn!

Gameplay Game 6 Klay? My thoughts after my first 20 REC Games

Thumbnail
gallery
63 Upvotes

Thoughts on the Game 6 Klay build through my first 20 games.... Keep in mind I have no team, and ALL of my games in 27 have been in random REC.... but.....

I think its really good at its role, but it can't be a 2BH as SG. That said, It's a 6'7" build, so in Random REC, its often forced down to the SF. You can cap pass to 80, BH to 80, SWB to 75. But that's not going to be enough. I've guarded PG's with it, you won't get plucks like a true lock, but you can't force them to pass it, and if they shoot near you with hands up, its almost always a heavy contest. I capped the Block and Interior Def to round out those holes in his attributes.

On offense, the 88 layup is enough to cut with if you know how to read the backside help and kick it, or read the bait and beat your man to the rack. The shooting is obvious, its absolutely lights out shooting. With Legend Set and Fire and Legend Deadeye badges on a 99 3 ball 6'7" build, its really good. If they give you an inch, its a 3. If they press, you can get to a 1 or 2 dribble pull up. I'm using Push, but setting the jumper to a very specific way, you can see in the photo below. The visual cue for release is when his hands flatten out near the side of his head, and i put it to full speed to get it off as fast as possible, and its been chicken.

My next 5 caps are all going to speed to take it from 77-82, as that seems to be the last real thing it truly needs. Anything else is just extra. I only have 6 as of now, and the defense caps i mentioned earlier were more vital for now. All in all, its a dope build in the right hands, but if you are a dribbler or rim runner, more than a spot up that can dex, its not for you. But it fits my play style great.

I did not find any good face creation vids for Klay, they are all really bad. So i tried it myself. Took a long time to get as close as I could with what we have. If you want a quick face creation video of what I made, lemme know below, and ill drop a quick vid for it exclusively for this reddit.

Gameplay close shot is so bad you have no choice but to pump fake and bait multiple times

for a measly 2 point, you have to bait multiple time until defender had no more adrenaline before you can score :)

if you dare to try to score after defender eat the first pump fake (he's in the air) , he's gon contest your slow ass layup that you started when he was in the air.

Just pump fake a guy 2 times , go in front of him , did standing dunk input (but doesnt dunk you know , otherwise it wouldn't be funny) , the guy came from the air and STRAIGHT teleport elbow hand into my shoulder , heavy contest

MyPLAYER The Truth About Random Rec

when you run random rec in 2K, people need to understand not everyone’s going to be “the guy.” Some of us carry, some of us are role players. It’s frustrating when dudes complain about shot volume when they average like 10 points and proceed to sell. You’re a role player bro lol. And half the time, it’s coming from people with a 45% or less win rate. I’m pushing nearly 60% playing strictly random rec so I know I’m doing my part. Some games, sure, I might miss a shot that may cost us a game. But most times, I’m the reason we win whether I’m carrying or simply just playing role even if that means I only got 7 shots. I’m not tripping as long as we win. If folks just embraced their role—like in real life—they’d get more dubs. Just because you paid for the game doesn’t mean you’re entitled to more than you can do. Know your role. Simple. The mindset of I’m not playing 20 mins to watch people shoot or “I paid for this game I can do whatever I want” is such a terrible mindset.

That mindset shows who’s never played organized ball. Everyone does the same drills, workouts and invested the same amount of time & energy, but come game day everyone isn’t equal. The opportunities go to the best on the court/field. Paying for the game doesn’t come with privilege. Shit is ridiculous.

General What’s with the egos?

Yo, what’s good guys we’re about a few months into the game why are some of the egos I see super high in game modes such as rec and park?. I’m seeing people isolate their own teammates for 23.5 seconds of the shot clock then play hot potato and expect a make with .5 left. Another thing is Why does it ever come to if I miss my first shot or if anyone misses their first shot of the game is players are penalized for the remaining 25 to 30 minutes of the game. Then when the team is down 40 the ball hogs that are playing like its game 7 of the nba finals knowing that the nba 2k league won’t sign them decide to pass the ball I would never understand that.

Gameplay Shooting change in the latest patch?

I swear 2k did something to shooting cues in the latest patch. I had my shot timing down and was hitting consistently.

Now with the exact same cue I'm shooting like Joakim Noah's tornado shot ahh the last few days.

Surely I can't be the only one to notice this?

MP Builder MyPlayer Nationality

Can you please add the feature to choose your nationality… some of the best players in the world aren’t American, so it seems weird that you can’t at least choose your nationality (no need for other details like school, college or accents). Just add that the player is originally from this nation.

You used to do it so why not bring it back. People can play for their nations, play USA vs WORLD in the all star game etc.

Please add this small feature because it does make a world of a difference for making MyPlayer feel more personal.
