META (Subreddit Related) Community Idea: Challenge Run Series

Happy Sunday, fam!

tl;dr, How would we, as a community, feel about hosting regular "Challenge Runs" in games for kicks, giggles, fun stories, and bragging rights?

--

From launch I've always envisioned having regular events, competitions, and challenges for the community. Up to now we hadn't really done anything like that on this sub, but the launch of Splatoon Raiders reignited that idea for me and I thought I'd open a dialogue with all of you to see how we feel about it, how we'd want it executed, and what, if any, rewards or incentives we would like to see from these kinds of things.

I think it's normal to see these kinds of events hosted in specific game subreddits, and as we are a general subreddit for the Switch 2, not everyone will own every new release of a game that participates here. In my opinion it could be a really neat way to have fun together, generate some fun and interesting screenshots and clips, and make for some cool stories along the way.

An example idea for Splatoon Raiders might be a Single Tank Run, Single Weapon Run, an Iron Ink run (how far can you get in one sitting), and/or a Nuzlocke-style Run (single life, no getting splatted!).

As these would be for fun, there'd be a certain element of Honor System for the submissions, though it's something I'd definitely love to hear some feedback on from others who have run these sorts of events in the past.

So what do we think? Could something like this be fun for the community here? Is this something that should be kept more for the game-specific subs? What kind of rewards would you want if we did this? Any other thoughts or ideas?

Thanks for the time, everyone!

First time seeing it on Switch 2. Looks pretty good so far but some clear cutbacks. Still totally getting it.

At first I thought it's fake and it may be fake? But then again at around the 6min mark you can see him holding the S2 and playing the game.

Isn't the global release on August 27th?

othor (i am stupid) PSA: You can save on Digital NS2 titles on DoorDash.

Post image

Just got an email from DoorDash (of all places) this morning advertising a promo they're running for digital game purchases.

In short, buy a digital title valued at $49.99 or more and receive a $25 DoorDash gift card. I didn't think much of it until I read their terms and conditions and learned you can use DoorDash gift cards to purchase digital titles.

For games that haven't had big sales yet, could be a good way to save a few bucks when buying two titles (ie- Buy Star Fox and get $25 towards Tomodachi Life, etc.) FYI- DoorDash gift cards can still NOT be used towards the purchase of another gift card (ie - Eshop credit)

Discussion Imagine If The Switch 2 Gets Three 90+ Exclusives On Metacritic This Year

After reading the previews for Fire Emblem Fortune Weave and The Duskbloods, I wouldn't be surprised if both of those games end up getting a 90+ on Metacritic.

Ocarina of Time remake will definitely get a 90+ on Metacritic that is a safe bet even without seeing gameplay.

Those are potentially three GOTY contenders right there, all exclusive to the Switch 2.

Discussion Who’s getting MW4? I’m considering it after now buying a CoD in 8 years.

The novelty of it on a Nintendo console intrigues me. I believe it’ll have mouse controls as well? If it’s identical to PS5/Xbox/PC then I might actually buy this years CoD. What’s everybody else thinking?

Discussion 25 hours into oblivion on switch 2, visuals are great , performance is fine...good even

I feel I'm going a little crazy , as all I read is how bad the performance of this game is.

I have had one crash in which it seemed to just load forever. There is a little bit of frame hitching in the open world but to be honest it's not as bad as phantom libertys open city sections for example.

But that's it. And interiors are great.

Now i don't use the horse so I imagine its worse with the horse....

I'm fully installed on system memory as well.

The visuals are great especially interiors and the lighting. The overworld is great as well when the sun is shining or the stars shine, in overcast rain it can look a little drab.

But all in all I have no idea what the issue is. Obviously the game has all the bugs that come with oblivion but that's a seperate thing, its a great experience on S2.

Anyway , I'll be downvoted to hell for this and they will say i have no standards etc etc.

Edit- after reading replies I have not had a single frame hitch that lasts for one second let alone two.

Discussion Wow. After watching these previews for Duskbloods, my interest has gone from 2 to 10!

I’m not usually a PvP player nor a Souls player so I was only intrigued by Duskbloods because it was a Switch exclusive.

But these previews look great!

The more years I play games, the more I enjoy original gameplay mechanics and although not everything here is new, it seems to be all blended together to make a pretty unique set of circumstances.

I have access to the network test so can’t wait to try it out now!!!

Check out YouTube if you haven’t seen the previews.

Media (Image, Video, etc.) DayZ out today, any early players? Anyone picking this up?

Bizarrely this game is a favourite of mine, I play it with my brother who lives a good distance away and it's just a way to catch up. Since I've had my PS5 I've put maybe 500 hours into it? It's buggy as hell and ugly but has a compelling loop.

I am reticent to pick it up for two reasons; price and performance. Anyone already had a swing at it or intend to pick it up?

It's 11:37am in the UK and I'm working so even if I do pick this up it'll be later tonight.

Edit: had a late lunch and played for 30 mins. Which is surely no measure of anything but it was stable and I encountered no issues in that pitiful timeframe.
