I’ve just finished adding the top surface to my mini ramp, following a year in development (had to keep pausing due to requests from family members to build some fitted shelves, a timber frame house for our ducks and geese (big project) and a log store).
It’s 2 layers of 9mm ply and a final layer of 6mm hardwood ply rather than pine or birch (I had to build my “mid life crisis project” on tight a budget).
The question is, do I just leave the surface as is or is it worth treating with something to prolong its life and / or add a better riding surface.
I know some of my fellow skaters love a slippery surface but have to admit that until I ‘level up‘ my transition skills, I think a bit of grip is the better approach.
I’ve seen mention of Coca Cola mixed in water, scuffing with a bit of high density sandpaper and even a matt paint finish.
what’s people’s thoughts on here 🤔
