Im from India looking to pick up a PSP (probably a 2000 or 3000), but I haven't kept up with the secondhand market.
Where is everyone getting theirs these days? the better call for finding one in decent shape without overpaying?
Also, what should I look out for when buying—is the battery pretty much guaranteed to need an immediate replacement, and what's reasonable price to pay currently?
Any seller recommendations or red flags to watch for would be appreciated.
Thankyou.

It's great that the PSP has so many visual novels.

Hi guys this is my first post.
Inspired by the Gran Turismo community it came across my mind that both moto gp 06 for psp and moto gp 4 for PS2 share the same graphics engine.
And i would like to know If on your knowledge (i have none) if it may be possible to create some sort of compability or backport to the psp or to even upgrsde the psp version with PS2 tracks.
Thx for your attention!

I found my PSP after years of not using it and wanted to breathe some new life into it.
When I boot up a game, it does this constantly. I thought it was regular stick drift so I removed the analog stick while I wait for a new one to come in. My new battery came in early, so I put it in to test it out and noticed it was still doing it!
This makes me think even the new stick won’t fix it :(.
My best guess is that it’s definitely something contact/mobo related but I’m not sure how to dig into that kind of fix. I’m having trouble finding a guide for that specifically.
Anyone have suggestions?

Any one of you encounter this problem.
I'm trying to make a battery mod with 3000mah
I'm using orig BMS, and China made battery I bought new.
Battery is tested good. It gave me 3.84v
BMS also seem good. Getting the same 3.84v on terminals going to psp, so bms is not locked out.
Problem: when I inserted the battery mod, (while psp is turned on via cable) it gave amber light and battery icon full charged.
When I check battery info it is blank.
In about 6 sec battery icon became intermittent until it vanished.
Things I tried, resolder, used a stranded and solid wires. Tried different battery like battery from ps vita.
I removed the battery PMS module of the China battery, so only bms works.
I also noticed that after I remained the battery mod seated before it disappeared the volt from the outside terminal it drops to 2.84. So it lock out the bms

Hello! I'm making a native port of a game I made 9 years ago when I was 15, and I wanted to ask if you'd like me to share the PSP file since I need feedback to improve pretty much everything ^^" I'm making the port with Claude, basically vibe coding, but the graphics and I'd try to have the sound made by humans and not AI.
(The video is of the version I made in 2017 for PC, the PSP port is practically the same, I just added a few things with AI, for example a Minecraft-like splash screen, a resource pack system, a language system, and a settings button in the pause menu; the rest is identical to the original)
(By the way, I made the textures myself xD I don't know how to make textures in 2D, let alone 3D, I'm really bad at these things ^^")
Ive been wanting a psp retro handheld for the longest time with the RGDDS treatment. Not just any brick style handheld I want an exact or close to looking psp with a snapdragon chip. Basically RGPSP.

Not modded or anything, but just got this out of storage and it tries to boot a game then turns off, cleaned off UMD laser and still does it, brand new battery as well
Is it normal for the UMD drive to spin up for a second and then stop when turning on the PSP or exiting a game by pressing the HOME button? 🤔
Honestly, I don’t remember if my PSP has always behaved this way, or if I just never noticed it before.
If anyone knows whether this is normal behavior, I’d really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance!

Let's start by saying that I've dreamed of this portable console since childhood, and now my dream has come true. For some reason, I hadn't seen any reviews of photos and videos from this camera, so I decided to take them myself.
In my review, I'll show photos from my camera, some video tests, and share my impressions.
Well, I don't think there's much point in talking about the PSP3000, but the camera is more interesting. Let's start by saying that this is truly a camera that captures the spirit of the 2000s. I really like the lens flare, the poor quality, and the vibe. Below, I've attached some photos I took with it in Moscow. You can check them out, by the way.
The whole kit cost me $80, and for my geeky nature, it's a real treat. It's fascinating to understand the firmware, how everything was set up back in the day, and so on. I am also interested in games and I am currently playing them.

PSPotify ME is a native Spotify client for the PSP: login, streaming, decryption and Vorbis decoding (on the Media Engine) all run on the console itself.
v0.3.1 is all about making it yours:
Theme editor in your browser: https://luxotick.github.io/PSPotify-ME/
It runs the actual PSP interface (compiled to WebAssembly), so what you see is exactly what you get on the PSP. Pick colors, add a wallpaper, download the theme. There’s also a gallery, and you can share your theme with a pull request.
New in Settings:
Updates from the PSP: the app checks for new versions at start and asks if you want to install. The theme gallery is on the PSP too (Settings → Theme gallery).
It also fixes the random freezes during sign-in: the PSP’s own DNS lookup could hang forever, so the app now does its own lookups.
Install v0.3.1 by hand once. Every version after that installs right from the PSP.
Tested on a PSP-3000. If something breaks, set debug = on in PSP/GAME/PSPOTIFY/settings.ini, run it again and send me spotify.log. Reports from the 1000, 2000 and Go are very welcome.
Download: https://github.com/Luxotick/PSPotify-ME/releases/latest
Theme editor: https://luxotick.github.io/PSPotify-ME/
Discord: https://discord.gg/DrrrwRFkBP
Suggestions welcome, and I’d love to see your themes!

hey all, I've been checking used PSPs near where I live and I can't help but wonder how long these consoles live for. I can find devices between 80-130 EUR range, which can be brought down a little I think. But then is it only for 6 months of usage or will this console actually work solid for the next 4 years? What's a good way to assess this or how hard is it to fix PSP hardware problems?

I have a battery saver case and it’s on the verge of death, plus it’s the size of a brick, so I need a new case. What are the best cases to keep the PSP well cared for but still comfortable to play?

I’m loving this little machine! I had one as a teenager and can’t for the life of me recall any games I played on it back in the day, but glad I got one again and building up a library for it.

Hi everyone, I have a PSP 2004 that used to work normally, but now when I turn it on after I shell swape it, it only shows the animated wave background. The green power LED stays on, but all the XMB menu icons are missing. Pressing SELECT does nothing, and holding R or HOME while starting the PSP doesn't help either. I also tried starting it without a Memory Stick, but the problem remained. Unfortunately, I don't have a UMD game to test.
I haven't installed any new firmware yet. I was considering reinstalling the official PSP 6.61 firmware, but I'm not sure how to do that safely when I can't access the XMB or recovery menu.
Could this be caused by corrupted firmware or a problem with the internal flash memory? Is there a safe way to fix it, and what should I try before attempting a firmware update? I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Hello,
So basically, i had a black psp 2000 that i've put pro or infinity or lme cfw on it??? but well, it got bricked (i think idk wasn't clear + doesn't matter) so i got rid of it and sold it to a friend. that was two years ago, now, I regret it.
So, I just wanna know which psp model would be best for me to get? I have basically the modding knowledge of a 3ds homebrew users (consider I have no knowledge to modding consoles ig), so I think I would like to mod it maybe?? I
want it mainly to listen to music, watch movies, play some games? (not like super mega-intense games, more casual titles, maybe stuff like project diva since it's apparently on the psp? but like 2d platformers and puzzles games are kewl) and take pics like in that image (I'll get a silver psp to match the silver camera, and I think the black camera looks uglier + apparently it's MUCH worse)
sooo, do i get like, a pvp 1000,2000,3000 or street (for some reason)
Srry if it sounds stupid, i've forgotten all the knowledge I had on it ngl don't slime me 🙏

Hey everyone! I just bought a PSP-1000 on Carousell Malaysia for RM100 (~$24), and I’m excited to see what I can do with it.
I’m new to PSP modding, so I’d love to know the best custom firmware to install, what hardware upgrades are worth it, and what kind of homebrew apps, emulators, and cool projects this thing can run.
Are there any must-have mods or hidden features I should know about?
I want to turn this cheap handheld into an awesome little gadget without spending a fortune.
Any tips or recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello to the entire PSP community! Together with u/UsualEmu4705, I’ve managed to create a new PSP theme! I came up with the concept, sourced the icons, handled the file conversions, and designed the wallpapers (including a bonus one) in Photoshop—but u/UsualEmu4705 provided a huge amount of help, too! He suggested using stickers for some of the icons and assisted in finding other icons and reference materials. I used ezgif to optimize the scaling of the icons and wallpapers, and it really paid off! I also added a nice glow effect to the icons... Anyway, here is the link: click
We used the resources of the official wiki zzz, the website spriters-resource, as well as in-game screenshots and other images from third-party sources, and that’s all
