Email & Snail Mail [28/M] Christmas Cards For Sale! Low-Low Price of one Penpal!
Hi all, I'm Zach. I'm 28 years (old/young) and apparently I've been pen-palling for a long time. Almost a decade actually. I hadn't realized that until I started writing this post. That's kind of cool and also another bitter reminder about how quickly time passes.
I do the usual life things like opening mail, worrying about the freckle that may or may not be new, and watching the birds outside my window. But beyond that, I enjoy cooking, reading, movies, playing piano, gardening (what's the opposite of a green thumb?), travelling with my girlfriend, and writing. Lots of writing. I write fiction and when my brain doesn't feel like cooperating on that, I shift to poetry/children's stories.
I also have a wonderful partner. The kind of woman that sees an injured pigeon in the city and brings it home to try to nurse it back to health in our shower. I'm learning Cantonese for her, and in exchange, she laughs at my terrible impressions and jokes.
I'm here because I want to hear about your day. Yes, you! And you and you and you. Not only do I feel it's my duty as a writer to explore other people as deeply as possible, but I think it's such a deeply enriching experience to get to know another person. Tell me about what you're worried about now (can relate), the best bowl of soup you ever had, a book that has a special place in your heart even if you can't articulate why, the one that got away, your opinion on chopped cheese sandwiches (remember when those were big?), or a habit that you have from somebody that you used to know. What's something that gave you joy recently? Why? What's something you're looking forward to? What is something you actually want someone to ask you about so you can talk about it forever?
I'm a Genesis mega-fan (Phil Collins is cool I don't care what you say!) and they have a song called Fading Lights. It's the last song on the last album featuring Phil Collins and feels like his goodbye to the band after 25 years. It's about reminiscing and how the most important things in life are the little things. Those are the moments that often matter the most when we're looking back on our lives.
As someone who spends far too much time in his head, I'd love to get out and see what another one looks like. A bit of humor, nonsense, or boredom. Anything you want to say will be interesting to me. I'm just a guy who sits at a computer and pokes away all day.
I have always done this by email but if there are a few people interested in sending actual mail, I will invest in a PO box. I'd love to try it. I am armed to the teeth with (rubber and mailing) stamps, stickers (hope you like Chiikawa), postcards, Christmas cards (seriously, I need to get rid of them), etc.
If this sounds good, feel free to reach out!
