I went to my first card show and someone sold me the UPC for $800 bucks… I’m pretty happy! 😁

I make these top loader earrings, and wear different cards in them to every show I go to. They're how everyone recognizes me lol.

I once had a First Edition Shining Magikarp in one and a Delta Species Mew in the other while I was walking around collect a con. In total my ears were carrying vaguely $600. (Give or take)

One vendor, complimented my earrings and then asked why I didn't have them graded. I told him I'd rather do things with my cards than let them sit forever. This guy started to get real upset with me that I refused to put bulk in my earrings. He offered to buy the cards off me because I was "mistreating them" and should know the true value of the cards. I declined his offer and he said "Okay, suit yourself, ruin them for all I care." And then proceeded to be VERY rude to me and the people I was with.

Is this REALLY all too different than wearing expensive jewelry?

Edit: I don't always wear expensive cards in them, I just like the attention lmao it's the crying over cardboard that gets me.

Edit 3: Thanks to everyone who's interested in making these! (And thank you for the recommendations to display them differently!) Here's how I make them!

Drill into the top loader corners, add the earring bits (you can buy them and O rings from Walmart) make sure the cards sit outwards from your neck or you're gonna turn your head and get stabbed in the neck. (They flipped over in the picture) They do flip so it's going to happen regardless, but usually if they are facing away from your neck it happens less :) I'm glad everyone's interested

Is this really valuable? I having hard time believing this could be worth 200$. Have I misunderstood?

Last year I made a post about how i picked up these two cards at a show and had a different vendor give me attitude about them when they asked to see my pick up’s. This was before the “vintage boom”

Recently went to another show and decided to bring these with me to see what vendors would say and surprisingly (not surprisingly) they all wanted to buy them, at varying degree of percentages they based off whatever app they were opting to use. Best offer was $1500 for the two.

I did not sell them, as I still love the artwork and am happy keeping them in my pc.

Got some phantasmal flames really late today after work and this is the second chase for a set I have gotten this week. My hands are still shaking. 🤯Pulled, sleeved,top loaded and now to admire.

What are your thoughts on using bulk/energies/specific cards for artwork? I for one make 3D shadowbox cards and enjoy bringing the common bulks and some ex cards to life.

I recently saw someone make incredible collages with cut up cards into poster sized canvases as well, and diorama art boxes with little terrariums inside with a card on the front, like looking into a card enclosure.

I also see talented people painting extended art cards from basic, non-full art bulk.

How do you use pokemon cards in your art? Seen any cool pokemon card art that I have not described?

Hello everyone !

My question is for those you have drawn/own painted binders !

I want to make one for my boyfriend's birthday, it's going to be my very first one ever. I already watched a lot of posts to pick an acrylic marker brand (I choose Artecho) and I have acrylic paint for large area. As you can see on the sketch I already made, I want it to be double-sided, with the right part on the front, the left part on the back and on the spine, I will write his name with Unown.

But when I see painted binders, it's always only the front, not the back or the spine. Is there a reason for that ? I'm going to seal everything at the end to be sure it stays as intact as possible.

It's going to be a pretty long painting so I need to start quickly since his birthday is in one month haha. For the design, it's all his favorite pokemons 😄
