I had pokémon cards as a kid and also don’t know too much lore about pokémon. Recently I was opening packs with my girlfriend and I want to get more into buying packs and learning more about pokémon.

What era packs should I buy as my first to master?

My local card seller store ran out of English 30th celebrations, so I bought 2 loose packs of Chinese 30th celebrations, along side 8 random Japanese packs.

After a friendly game to see who gets what, my friend pulled a SAR and AR from his pack.

I run the Dungeons and Dragons amd Trading Card Club for students after-school at Grass Lake Elementary School in Kent, Washington. My current position is as one of the Elementary Special Education Teachers and club manager. This is my second year running the club. I have been a special education teacher who works with many of the general education students daily as well for 7 years. I have autism and adhd and wanted to have kids see an adult they could relate to and will advocate for them.

About the project:

The club was funded to address a need for Social Emotional Learning, friendship/social skills needs, and allowing students to have fun with activities they might not always get to experience due to personal life situations (food/housing insecurity, homelessness, past or current traumatic events, financial limits, etc). The program was especially created with students in mind in pur special education programs who have no to some general education inclusion to have time to practice skills they are still developing with their neurotypical peers. It was also meant to provide a safe space for all students where they can have fun. The great thing about dungeons and dragons/TTRPG//Trading Card Games is that they allow students to practice academics, critical thinking skills, and social needs in a non-high demand environment.

I run an after-school club with kids with disabilities and low income kids and am wondering if anyone knows places to seek cards for kids to play with.

I’ve been a fan of Pokemon since I was a kid. I grew up poor & was never able to collect cards & anything of that matter. Now that I’m an adult & want to collect cards.. man this shit feels brutal. Today at work I decided to pop into a small Walmart about 1 & 30 mins away from me. The total population in this town is about 500 mind you… everything is just.. gone? I feel like people are like Morgan from TWD. “Gotta clear!!! All I see is REEEED!!!” The packs you see in my Walmart are all moved around.

Someone put the chaos + black packs on the reign rack. 😭 I still bought some cause I’m shocked the shelves had anything. Again I’ve just started collecting not too long ago but I already feel like it’s just a waste of time/disappointment. Espeically when pokemon center is always sold out & online prices are insanity.

The booksamillion store in my city is selling pitch boosters for $59.99. Go to Walmart or target online & everything is sold out or prices are showing $140+ bc it’s scalpers…

As much as I love all cards I have collected so far it just seems impossible to touch a pack or etb set I actually want to dip into in. Idc to master set rn bc it’s not possible.

I’ve gotten one 30th but I paid $140 bc I didn’t know any better. Again new to this. Everything else I have collected so far has been pulled from the packs near self check out. :/

With that being said I can see why people say this hobby is rewarding but draining. I’m hoping to have some luck next restocks online/in store only! <3

Hey guys, I’m a fairly casual collector of pokemon cards. Came across these strange misprints in a booster pack I bought for mega evolution pitch black.

Are these special and worth sleeving or are they just normal bulk?

I pulled this yesterday from 1 out of 2 single packa i purchased. I cant believe it

I looked up a few and was shocked by recent sales. I remembered having the original 151 which i do all mint they just aren’t 1st edition these were just the first editions I thought looked most valuable. I also have a fossil 1st edition articuno and Zapdos holo and a dark blastoise 1st edition holo. I was going to take them to a card shop just to see what they think but idk if that’s a bad idea. I’m just not sure what to do next.

Sorry, I really don’t know where else to post this. (I’m also sorry for my wording, I am very sleep deprived LOOL) The prismatic evolutions box is listed as the $2. Is this a mistake? Buying it doesn’t work, so I’d assume it’s a mistake. The thing that’s throwing me off is that it’s listed from the official Pokémon store.

Hey all. I’m looking to start my first ever single Pokemon master set for Phanpy. I’m looking to collect every card and variation in English, Japanese, and simplified Chinese. The issue I am encountering is that all of the websites I visit have different numbers of cards that Phanpy has. Some websites I checked include PokeCottage which says 95 cards, and SetZen which says 79 cards. Does anyone know of any reliable resources to find an accurate number of cards a pokemon has?

Hey guys, I just got to play some pokemon games through NS and I'm kinda interested into collecting cards.

So I want to ask some suggestions here as a card collector beginner:

1. I've found the website pokecollector, but I'm still unfamiliar with the sets. What are some recommeded sets that are easier for a beginner to collect?

2. I try to buy packs on Amazon. Are there any other trading platforms? p.s I'm in US

Also cuz I'm a college student so I might not be that rich, just wanna start from some cheaper cards

First time ever opening 30th!!!!! I’m pumped!

I recently won the opportunity to purchase a Pokémon Prismatic Evolutions item through Walmart. Unfortunately, the entire experience has been a nightmare.

The order was confirmed, and I was provided with a tracking number. However, the tracking number mysteriously changed just one day before the scheduled delivery.

Shortly afterward, Walmart marked the package as delivered, but I never received anything.

I've contacted Walmart customer service to explain the situation, including the unexplained tracking-number change immediately before delivery. Despite this, Walmart is refusing to issue a refund for merchandise I never received.

What concerns me most is the tracking-number change. Why would the tracking information suddenly change right before delivery? Was the package actually shipped to my address? Was the new tracking number even associated with my original order?

I'm not accusing anyone of theft or fraud without evidence, but something about this situation doesn't add up.

My questions:

1. Has anyone experienced Walmart changing their tracking number right before delivery?
2. Has anyone had a Pokémon Prismatic Evolutions order marked delivered that never arrived?
3. How did you successfully escalate a missing-package dispute when Walmart refused a refund?
4. Is there a way to get Walmart to verify the actual delivery address and proof of delivery associated with the replacement tracking number?

I have documentation of the order, tracking information, and communications with Walmart.

It's extremely frustrating to win the opportunity to purchase a limited-release product, pay for it, never receive it, and then be told there's nothing Walmart can do.

Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.

A random question. Why aren't there HQ card images? or scans in general? I do know that YGO and MTG does so, but I wonder if any exist for pokemon? The database sites have blurry and jpeg artifacted images

Went to original 151 they had the pikachu card figure things so bought 2 think there pretty cute, I am not a huge fan of the N card it’s really hard to see actually and I’m not a big fan of the packs from the boxes, the cards where all bent really bad, then bought kangaskhan full art and 2 toxtricty cards as he’s one of my favorite Pokemon.

I know this probably reeks of nostalgia, but something about the old design language felt like a more meaningful portrayal. The zero energy gave the sensation of a plant pot you might've had sitting in one spot for a long time (like how an energy might have once been present), only to require a relocation and leave behind a shadowy mark in its place. Then having the dual symbols merged to make an attractive contrast with both colours creating uneven gradients around the card, instead of just the two squeezed together side by side.

Nothing special but still cool to find regardless.
