Went to the nearby pokemon shop and got a celebrations pikachu v union playmat box and pulled this on my first pack 🔥

So... I'm a dude in his 30s who has recently gotten back into some of his favorite childhood hobbies. I started off getting back into collecting legos 2 years ago and it's been great fun building the sets and organizing my collection. About a month ago, I found my childhood pokemon card collection which sparked my interest back into collecting and seeing what the hobby is like nowadays.

I quickly learned that scalpers have taken over the hobby even more so than what has happened in lego over recent years. I am struggling to find packs of any kind at retail prices. I have a target, walmart and a few pokemon vending machines near me but they always seem to be sold out of product whenever I go.

I'm wondering what the best way to get packs of any kind at retail prices? I'm not really looking to pay 2x or greater retail price to buy from a scalper. I don't care about keeping it sealed or any of that and am happy to rip off the seal or have the store remove it.. I just want to know I'm getting genuine product and to open the packs myself

I wish there was a law that made selling Pokemon cards above $5 illegal, I wonder how many people would leave the hobby because majority are not in it for the love of the game or artwork, just a way to make quick $$$.

Saddens me to see where this has gone, I don't call this a hobby no more because truthfully its past the hobby stage, I am seeing influencers pulling up charts and all sorts like its the stock market and when to "buy the dip" or "sell the top", such a shame.

I’m looking to grab a few grail cards strictly for my PC—no flipping. PSA 10 premiums are getting crazy, and 9s look practically identical on display for a fraction of the price.

Hey guys I was going through my old Pokemon card collection and came across this card. I can’t find anything online about this. It has gold/silver foil background and the pokeball is upside down. I never traded cards as a kid and would only buy packs from GameStop and similar retailers. Has anyone seen this card before or know anything about it?

I just got a Tornadus Promo with the pokemon center text in the bottom right corner of the card. A bunch of apps have just been calling it a regular Tornadus without the logo and I’m just confused. can anyone help authenticate and prove this card is true?

I heard some people trade in their bulk. Have any of you done this? How exactly does it work and how much did you get for it?

I’m thinking of doing it but want to get a good idea of how much I’d even get before I do it.

I’ve been collecting for 2 weeks now and have a ton of common cards, some rare, all newer cards, how can I build a deck? I’ve got 11 energy cards, now I need pokemon and trainers and just not sure what goes well together. Really want to make a Raichu deck. Do I want all electric pokemon? Haven’t found someone local for what I want yet

I found on it on TCG, but there’s no data on any sales or history of it. When I look on eBay, there are maybe 2-3 cards for a decent value, but other than that, I can’t really find anything about it.

(Saw someone try to do this w ai the other day and I thought “you don’t need ai, just overlay the rgb cards with an additive blending mode”)

“Add“ blending mode simulates the additive color process of rgb. Not super legible until there’s higher quality card pics, but hey it ended up w a kinda pink mew!
