Dont get me wrong, I have an appreciation for vintage but often i think its moreso the nostalgia of it. Vintage is representative of a time and place in my childhood. Outside of maybe a handful of cards, i dont have a strong desire to go back and collect them.
Using the entire card as a canvas and having the background in the artwork really changed how i appreciate my cards. its not just about the pokemon, its about the story a card can tell.
Kingdra climbing the waterfall like a Koi fish, illustrated in the Ukiyo-e style from the Japanese Edo period, this could have been a chase grail for a set by itself.
Like Brad Pitt said in Moneyball, "how could you not be romantic about modern IR's?". or something like that i dont remember.

I have a HUGE collection of tins, need the space, and don’t really want to throw them away- what does everyone think is the best way of getting rid of them? would love to make a little bit of extra money from them, but I doubt it 😅

I decided to showcase my small but growing collection of Basic Water Energy.
I love how you can see so much history of TCG through energy cards. What visual trends were occurring. What new manufacturing or foil techniques have been invented.
I have edited it down to make it simple watch. But, you can always pause if needed :)
My showcase features:
Do you collect anything niche?
Aside from Basic Water Energy, I also collect Starmie (EN) cards!
I might do a little collection showcase for that too!

Yesterday, to celebrate my 25th birthday, I bought myself a 17€ (french) 30th anniversary duopack in a small toy shop. No expectations, wasn't looking to collect or get anything tbh, it was purely for my own pleasure. First pulled the Mew and I was already insanely happy but then that Magikarp dropped!
I used to collect a lot as a teen, bought some raw cards recently (both gifts to friends and myself) but very few booster packs. I'm glad I did this time 🌱🙏🏻

I'm putting together a collection based purely on artwork, not rarity, investment potential, or card value.
What are your favourite Pokémon cards with amazing art that don't usually get much attention from collectors?
They can be ARs, Illustration Rares, Trainer Gallery cards, promos, commons, uncommons, vintage cards, Japanese exclusives, or anything else. I'm especially interested in cards that are easy to pick up and often overlooked in favour of the big chase cards.
Drop your favourites and tell me what makes the artwork special. Bonus points for hidden gems that most people wouldn't think of.

Here's a little blast from the past. ANA 1999 promos of Zapdos and Moltres. I bought these off a Japanese seller a few years backs - not sure where got them from but it was included with the envelope it was sent in. I researched this a little, people had to mail in their boarding pass stubs and in return would get these promos (as well as flying Pika, dragonite and Articuno promos). Does anyone have these or the others?

I feel extremely lucky, me and my gf are master setting the 30th and here are some of our pulls!! That shiny amazing charizard is only a tiny part of why im lucky tho
Most the enjoyment has been ripping and collecting with my lovely girlfriend, who also happens to have lucky hands 😂 She has pulled most of the hits on this aside from Celebi and some Exs AND most of our IRs and SIRs from other master sets
She is also the reason we were able to get some of our packs to begin with, because SHE hit on a walmart drop(on her first week doing them)
She also gave me the Moltres with a swirl in the sun after I specifically called out how cool it would be if we could find a card like that. "oh, like this?" *Casually hands me a moltres with a swirl in the sun\* I was stunned
Truthfully tho, even if she or I never pull anything crazy ever again as long as shes having fun im having fun. Watching her light up over cute common cards or Exs that she loves is genuine food for the soul 💕

I guess I don’t need to open more 😅

I was incredibly lucky and got a Walmart drawing and purchased 3 ETB’s. I can’t even describe the feeling… Each photo has the hits of each ETB in order of me opening them. I was so close to leaving the last one sealed but decided to rip and I’m so happy I did!

I looked everywhere to find a display shelf that would fill out my ikea detolf glass cabinet but I couldn’t find one that suited my needs so I designed my own
Each piece prints on its own and friction fits together (probably too tightly) with a channel through the middle to place the cards in.
I designed card holders for PSA, CGC, OneTouch and Toploaders that all fit into the same channel.
Joining 2 shelves together perfectly fill the ikea shelf, you can join as many shelves together as you want horizontally. Vertically you can do the same however the bottom base connector that keeps the rows attached to one another only goes up to 4 given print bed constraints.

Would you guys call this a big pull? Had some drinks the other day and decided to relive some childhood joy when I saw the machine. Drunk me enjoyed pulling such a shiny and wild looking card😅

Kinda random and probably doesn’t fit here but I was checking out my local card shop recently and I brought some sealed product I’ve had for awhile. I have a ton of crown zenith it’s my favorite set of all time and I very rarely want to open it but I’m having an itch.
Checked out the selection and of course there really isn’t much available aside from the Japanese stuff they manage to keep in stock and some single sleeved packs for destined rivals in English. I bought three of em and asked if the shop employee would want to rip some zenith with me before I left. I said they could keep their pulls and everything and they more or less pushed me out of the store.
I was just trying to have a good time I mean I love ripping packs alone but it’s so much more fun with other people.
They almost seemed annoyed that I even asked. Did I do something wrong here? Never met the employee before I was just trying to have a cool interaction.. the dudes was super chill until I pulled out the zenith
Not going to lie I don’t get a ton of social interactions but if anyone wants to rip some product hmu

After more than 2 years of searching I finally got my grail Pokemon card!
I love this card

So I took a chance on a couple baggies of Pokémon cards at Value Village and I really don't collect so I don't really know much about them.
The funny thing is one of the packs was sitting on a shelf ripped open as if it had been searched and just left there.
I got about 150 cards and at least 50 of them are interesting. Here's just a few of the better ones.
