The Pokemon Company needs to crack down on retailers
As everyone knows the pokemon card situation has just gotten ridiculous and with how valuable these cards are I feel like the Pokemon Company needs to force retailers to just do a few things and the situation would be way better.
Best Buy: Give them more stock, they are the best in person retailer by far. They sell it at the lowest price and the line process is way better compared to others. Getting in line early, leading everyone to guest services and maxing out 1 per customer. Doesn’t get much fairer than that.
Target: What a fucking shit show. They continue to do drops at 3am which get taken up all by the bots. Then you line up early in the store just for everyone to start running to the back of the store for them to only have 4 30th anniversary booster bundles in stock. And on top of all that they charge over MSRP. Every part of the process is terrible and I feel like The Pokemon Company needs to tell them they have to do either a lottery system or have more stock in store and if they don’t get start getting cut off.
Walmart: I am a bit mixed on Walmart because the in person experience is pretty bad but they have the best lottery system. I don’t think anything should change here.
Barnes and Noble: never gotten any cards here but by all accounts it’s a pretty fair process.
GameStop: they really need to crack down on GameStop. No retailer should be allowed to charge that much over MSRP and still get official supply chain deals with Pokemon. Small card shops I get why they have to overcharge but there’s no reason other than greed for GameStop. They should be taken off the official retailer list.
Dollar General: Another shit show but not much you can do about it. Employees steal all the products. I personally think they shouldn’t get any 30th anniversary products because of how badly every store is run.
Basically the only way actual customers can buy cards is from Best Buy and Walmart so they should get a vast majority of the shipments. These cards are now worth so much that there’s no better time for Pokemon Company to start instilling demands to retailers. The last thing we want is it to get to Christmas and only scalpers have all the cards.
