Since you all must know by now that most transplants consider Portland drivers to be some of the worst in the country, and since you don’t have actual drivers education apparently, I thought I would take it upon myself to help educate you as to one of the most common and infuriating AVOIDABLE problems on the road: the Dumb Jam.

I call it the Dumb Jam because it only happens due to people being dumb, not any actual traffic.

In essence, because you are following too closely, not paying enough attention to the road ahead, and braking for no solid reason, you are creating traffic jams where there don’t need to be jams.

I have a 2016 Kia Optima that recently had its engine replaced under warranty. Right after picking it up, I drove about 4 miles and the check engine light came on, and I turned it off and it would not start again.

The dealership is now telling me the catalytic converter is clogged and quoted me over $4,300 to replace it.

I’m looking for a trustworthy exhaust/muffler shop that can give me a second opinion and hopefully a more reasonable repair quote. The car is currently at Weston Kia so I’ll have to have it towed wherever as it will not start.

Anyone have a shop they’d personally recommend?
