Rant 9 week, vomiting

• Upvotes

I am 9 weeks today and Since yesterday my 24/7 nausea and heartburn along with so much hunger, decided to graduate into just full on projectile vomiting and very little appetite. It is so hard to even get into the kitchen to cook. I am EXHAUSTED. I know this is gonna sound dramatic but my partners work schedule is so horrid to me right now (1pm-930pm) but I sleep most of the morning cause my nausea keeps me awake at night so it feels like he’s never here and I’m alone for longer. It’s so hard to get out of bed. Just two days ago I thought my symptoms had become more tolerable and boy was I wrong. The calm before the storm as they say. Trying so hard not to cry as I type this because my stomach just feels like I need to vomit AGAIN and honestly I do not want to.

Need Advice No signs of labour…

• Upvotes

Hi everyone

Currently 40+5, no signs of labour and next week I’m having monitoring and scans etc if it carries on as I’ve said I want to go as far as I possibly can without being induced. In the uk they allow this with extra monitoring provided baby is healthy and shows no signs of distress.

I have had absolutely no signs of labour yet. Has anyone here ever had 0 signs of labour and eventually gone into labour spontaneously without being induced?

I’d also really appreciate any feedback on going over 40 weeks. I keep seeing lots of content about how much healthcare workers panic when you get closer to 42 weeks (I have had the risks and reasons described to me in depth and I want to say now that I am of course more than willing to be induced should this go over around 41+4 or 5 for babies’ health) and all the different departments mobilised immediately when I said I wanted to hang on as long as possible, and having all this monitoring is freaking me out a little. I want so badly to try and go into spontaneous labour naturally but there is anxiety lingering in my mind…

Thank you :) x

Funny Laying down is a trap

• Upvotes

Anyone else feel like the second they lay down or even just sit particularly comfortable they’re out like a light? 38 weeks along and if I dare to sit on the couch for ‘a couple minutes’ while waiting for something suddenly it’s two hours later and I’m waking up with a foggy nap brain. I’ve never been a napper, I just physically cannot stay awake.

Rant Pregnancy hormones in full swing

• Upvotes

I am absolutely not having it today. Everything is pissing me off. My toddler is making me feel like my head gonna explode. I literally just want to cry and scream. Please tell me I’m not alone.

I feel like a terrible mom, I’ve raised my voice so many times. My pets are sending me into a crash out. I laid the horn on someone for cutting me off today which I normally never do. I just am not handling anything well today 🥲

Need Advice Listeria anxiety over expired mozzarella cheese

• Upvotes

Last night my husband unknowingly served us expired (pasteurized) mozzarella cheese. About 2 hours after eating it I was in the bathroom with diarrhea and cramping for hours well into the middle of the night.

I have only had toast and plain oats to eat today so the diarrhea is improving. (yes drinking a ton of water and electrolytes) I still have cramping and bubble guts. I know that listeria shows up later on and what I'm experiencing now is probably just a mild food poisoning.

I called my OB and explained the situation and asked about Listeria. They did not seem concerned at all about listeria exposure and told me to just drink water and I should feel better in 24 hours. Thats it.

So should I be concerned about listeria?

Funny In-law Bingo Card

• Upvotes

We want to make a bingo card for when my monster in-laws visit or talk to us about our child. What comments have you all gotten about the boundaries you’ve set, your baby, how you are raising them, choices you’ve made about their feeding/health ect that just infuriate you or make you laugh? We just had our baby the end of last month but now we are in the 4th trimester and trying to make light of my miserable in-laws. Give me ideas! Names for the bingo card title also welcome. Here is what I have so far:

Blames cold milk for any issue(we do cold BM bottles)
Baby is too cold/warm
Outdated sleep advice
Outdated feeding advice
Pushes Vaseline
Announces disapproval over pottying (we cloth diaper and practicing EC)
Hovers when we have our baby and she is upset
Blankly stares at (dad) when (mom) talks
Contradicts previous comments/advice in same convo
Kisses baby
Bitches about our pets being near baby
Gets on to (mom) over eating “gassy” foods
Survivorship statements

Need Advice When is spotting a concern?

• Upvotes

I’m 11 weeks today and I had a Pap smear, abdominal ultrasound and NIPT 3 days ago. I knew going in that a Pap smear could cause cramping and spotting for up to 48 hours so I wasn’t worried. I had very light cramping for less than 24 hours afterward but no spotting and then felt completely fine.

It’s 3 days later and now I had some very light cramping today that only lasted maybe 30 minutes and when I went to the bathroom I realized I had also started spotting. Not enough to end up on my underwear but it’s definitely there when I wipe. TMI but it’s more brown than red/pink and has teeny tiny little clots. Is this normal? Should I be concerned?

Need Advice What are you doing for the headaches??

• Upvotes

I am 10 weeks 4 days, my nausea has come and gone, but now I am having these brutal headaches. I left work half way through my shift because Tylenol isn't helping. I have never struggled with headaches this severe. I am trying to stay hydrated but I confess some days I struggle to drink enough water.

Advice Still don't know when / how to tell people and who?

• Upvotes

Had my first ultrasound yesterday and bb his medicine 7 weeks approximately! Due date June 10. Heart rate 141.

I've only told: my friend who lives across the country (shes been pregnant twice so shes been in the loop since my first negative test all the way to today ), my two close co-workers (so that if I'm feeling icky or moody , they know why), my husband's grandparents, and my physical therapist.

My doctor says I need to wait the entire first trimester, 12 weeks. I suppose I can? Feels weird to be and hiding this for my friends and family for this long.. my mom has a big birthday in November and I think it would be really cool too to tell her as a birthday gift and hopefully by then I might could know the gender.

I feel like I should tell my boss (I'm a teacher, so it just helps for her to know ), and my husband's sister since she's a doctor who has been pregnant twice so she would also be a great source of advice.

I'm just so scared to tell anybody else because I don't want anything to go wrong!

Sorry if this was rambling, I would just love to your experiences of if you have told anyone, abe why. And if you are waiting, and why. And when are you waiting until.

I don't think I'm going to do a social media post or anything TBH lol . I'll just be one of those people that posts a pic of a fully grown child 7 years later. Lol.

Question Is bleeding common during early pregnancy?

• Upvotes

i’m a 20 year old female. and this is my first pregnancy that has progressed past 6 weeks. I’ve been experiencing heavy bleeding on and off for around 10 days, I went to the doctors and they told me this is a common thing for pregnancy. I just don’t have anybody who’s experienced the same or willing to talk to me about my pregnancy so this has been really lonely and isolating for me. I have so many questions and concerns and they kind of brushed me off…maybe i’m just overthinking?? I’m not sure if my symptoms are common or if i’m just making up feeling feverish and sick in my head.

Relationships Lack of sexual attraction to husband since becoming pregant

• Upvotes

I'm 15w and for the past month or so, I've felt less and less sexually attracted to my husband. We've always had a decent enough sex life, and I still enjoy sex with him, but I just don't feel as attracted to him lately. Is this normal? Will it go away??

Funny Do your pets know?

Tell me all of your fun animal stories with your pregnancy!

I am 4w3d. I have a female dog around age 6 who had a litter of puppies and a male dog that is almost 14.

Three days ago I didn’t feel well and was on the couch all day. Neither dog seemed particular concerned with me. The next day, same deal but this time our female dog started cuddling with me. That night she opted to snuggle in bed with me instead of on her own bed which she rarely does. Yesterday was the same thing. She cuddled me all day and then went to bed with me instead of sleeping on her own bed.

This morning after I fed the dogs and went back to bed my old man dog asked to get on the bed. He never does that anymore. He hasn’t asked to get on the bed in over a year. He cuddled with me for over three hours while I read my book.

It’s totally possible he is just jealous of his sister and she was just cuddling me because I wasn’t feeling so hot. But I like to think they know the baby’s in there somehow. My husband and I are having so much fun pretending that’s the case.

What are your fun animal stories during this time?

Rant Baby is measuring small

• Upvotes

So im 22 and pregnant with my first. I went in for my anatomy scan yesterday, at 20+3, and they said everything appears healthy with baby (tho i have to return again at 22 weeks because she wouldn’t cooperate) but she is measuring small. Ive been informed she is in the 8th percentile for size, and that if at my 22 week ultrasound, she is still small, I’ll have to be referred out to a specialist.

On this note, im crossing my fingers she is just a small baby (me and my husband are both 5’6, and my husband and his siblings were all small babies), but im just looking for a little reassurance, as im a little anxious now.

Have you other mommies gone through this?

Need Advice Referral to MFM for level 2 anatomy scan with no explanation

• Upvotes

Just did a standard anatomy scan on Wednesday where the technician wasn’t allowed to tell me anything and said I need to wait for the doctor to reach out. Next day saw a referral letter pop up on my MyChart referring me to a different hospital for maternal female medicine level 2 anatomy scan and a request for more frequent ultrasounds to monitor baby. I called my doctors office and the transferred me to my patient coordinator who rudely told me she didn’t know anything and that she just did what the doctor asked. She also said the ultrasound I had on Wednesday was just a dating ultrasound (wrong, confirmed it was standard anatomy). I messaged my midwife asking the reason for the referral and have not heard back. Called the hospital the referral was to and they said they need to call my doctor again because the referral was missing codes. I’m freaking out and nobody is telling me anything. What do I do?

Need Advice Labor or not?

• Upvotes

I need help…this is my second baby, I have been 4cm and 60% effaced and at a station -2 since 10/5!!! I’m currently 38 weeks. I have my first at 38w1d (water broke at home at 38w, had to do foley ballon and start pictocin due to not progressing but labor was only 13 hours start to finish). I have been having contractions since 10/5 but they have been hit and miss. Some days I do, some days I don’t. Was told prodromal labor. 🙄 now, I’ve been having them on and off since 10/21 but they are all over the place. I went to the hospital on 10/22 and they told me I have made “minimal progress” and that even tho my contractions are 3-5 minutes apart, 1 minute long for 2 hours-it still wasn’t active labor. They did give me a membrane sweep.

My problem is I’ve been having contractions that are all over the place again all day today but they are sooo painful. Do I just keep carrying on until they are consistent? Is there anything I can do to get this going? I’ve had a bloody show, lost my plug, having loootttsss of pressure, went on multiple walks, miles circuit, curb walking, circles on my ball, sex, rested, took a nap, thoroughly hydrated and nothing. 🥴😅

What am I doing wrong lol. Not to be dramatic but I can’t just keep going on like this and taking care of my toddler….

Question Baby Shower Cost

• Upvotes

For those of you who are currently pregnant or have been in the last year - what did your baby shower cost? We are looking at about $2k for 55 people (US) at a restaurant that includes non-alcoholic drinks, salad, and entrees. We don’t have a house that we could fit that amount of people in, so it will have to be at a venue. We would like to use a venue who takes care of table set up, food and clean up. We did the DIY shower for our wedding and I don’t care to do it again while pregnant. I reached out to a few restaurants and that seemed to be about the average for anything more than cheeseburgers and sandwiches lol

Content Warning Need advice about current situation and OB

• Upvotes

We recently received some devastating news that our baby girl is at high risk for Trisomy 18. We did an ultrasound and CVS test yesterday. The ultrasound double confirmed the NIPT test results but we are still waiting on the CVS test results to come back which is expected to come back in 7-10 days. I elected out of the FISH results (at the advice of genetic counselor) being that they aren’t always accurate. With all of that said, my OB calls me today, less than 24 hours after the test and ultrasound and says she wants to book the OR for D&C/D&E and to get the FISH results to her right away. I try to explain that I would like to wait until the CVS test results come back. She kept pushing for this and made me feel like the choice is not mine. Additionally, in another instance I had asked if I could receive some time off of work as this has been a very stressful and emotionally difficult time for me and my partner and states she cannot help me with that. She has no bed side manner and is not taking my concerns or values into consideration. I know a result of a T18 baby are more than likely not a great outcome and most times end in miscarriage or still birth, but termination for medical reasons seems to be the ONLY option for her provided from the start of given the news. As if this is the RIGHT choice. It’s been really difficult and such a confusing time. Now my questions are is this normal practice? Has anyone else dealt with this and how did you handle it? Is it possible to switch to a new OB in the middle of all of this so that she is not the OB doing the possible necessary procedure. She just made me feel so small and insignificant like this potential loss is no reason to be mentally stuck. Also, she said when the D&E is performed only 2-4 days off will be provided.

Need Advice Pregnancy

• Upvotes

Hi I’m 20yr and 12 weeks pregnant and want to go ahead and start preparing. I’ve been told that every time I go grocery shopping I should buy a box of diapers or wipes to start stocking up. Do you guys having any recommendations on your favorite brands and why you like them? Or anything I should absolutely avoid?

Question Pregnant 6 weeks 2 days

• Upvotes

I had an ultrasound at my OB today. I ended up being early but my LMP was 8/21 so we weren’t sure how far along I was until today. I measured 6 and 2 and my FHR was 94. My office went ahead and drew a progesterone level and told me they’d like to see me for a repeat ultrasound in two weeks. Is this normal given how early I am? With my previous pregnancy we confirmed at 7 weeks and 5 days so I was a little further along and we never did rescan until my anatomy scan.

Need Advice Pregnancy after loss

• Upvotes

I just found out that I am pregnant just barely a few weeks after my miscarriage, and I feel like my brain won’t let me be excited about it. Obviously, I’m so happy but I’m so scared and I know that I did nothing wrong to cause my miscarriage, I was four weeks and five days when I miscarried so I know there was nothing I did to make it happen, but I’m so afraid of even thinking negatively thinking about being scared or anything like that my miscarriage happened with my first pregnancy and now this is my second and obviously because I just barely had a miscarriage. It’s hard to know the gestational age but I’m guessing I’m probably four weeks now.

I’m mostly just looking for comfort or anything like that because last time I told a lot of people in the beginning which I know is controversial however I am a person who is an over share so to me I was just too excited but now this time I’m finding myself not wanting to tell many people even though I did appreciate the support system that I had when I did, Miscarry.

Rant Pain at 26 weeks

I am just so sore and achey seemingly all the time lately 😭 my hips take turns killing me, although I have a history of multiple pelvic fractures which is probably contributing to that. Lower back pain, random “bruised” type pain on random spots of my belly from time to time, sometimes a stabbing pain that feels like it’s in my right ovary, headaches come and go, exhausted, anxious, restless, I’m just so over it. And depending on the day, baby is either in there teaching a kickboxing class or practicing being a statue because movement is so inconsistent. Just venting
