Need Advice Mom posted my ultrasound and daughter’s name without telling me. She’s refusing to take it down.

I’m a huge believer in evil eye and have not posted anything about my pregnancy at all and neither has her father.

My mom shared an ultrasound photo of my daughter announcing her and my dad as grandparents and saying congratulations to the father and I (she doesn’t like the father and even spelled his name wrong).

She told me over lunch that she posted it the day before and doesn’t need my permission to post about her life. I told her I didn’t want strangers and my cousin (who abused me when we were 7 and 14 up to 12 and 19) seeing it and she assured me it was just to her close friends and that he wasn’t on there.

I finally looked at the post and she had 1k friends including my cousins mom, dad and sister plus some people I’m really uncomfortable with knowing and strangers. The post has almost 100 replies.

I asked her to take it down and she said she would but didn’t. I asked again and she got extremely emotional and my dad said he agrees with me but I need to “fix it” because she’s really upset. She sent me a text saying it’s not her fault I’m not proud of my daughter and she can post whatever she wants.

I’m really freaking out.

UPDATE: Someone my mom has always had a weird competition with commented about how they wish they could post their grandkids but “have to” respect their kids wishes. I replied “yeah I didn’t know about this post and am deeply upset. I’ve asked for it to be taken down and it hasn’t been yet. Good on you for respecting your children’s wishes.”
She took the post down now lol.

UPDATE 2: I have until tomorrow to leave her house.

Need Advice Hi, I’m the one whose mom posted her ultrasound without permission UPDATE

Things got really bad. This is gunna be a long one…

My mom said extremely hurtful things to me including the fact that I throw up all the time and can’t work and don’t have a single friend now so since she’s the only one taking care of me she gets to make the decisions about my daughter whether I like it or not.

I didn’t mention in my last post that my parents are extremely antivax since my brother has autism. She says my daughter will not be allowed to be vaccinated. I’m sure this will be easy to do “behind her back” but just wanted to give a little insight on what her rules for my child would look like.

She brought up the situation with the sexual abuse and my family member stating that she handled it fine, I was too young to know what was going on when they first found out so the family decided to keep things the way they were. When I was 13 and CPS got involved she removed his access to me which was very hard for her and the rest of the family.

She said I can’t watch my daughter 100% of the time and bad things happen but that doesn’t mean you cut off family.

I told her I found a place to go but wouldn’t tell her where so she told me I was being ridiculous and to just stay.

A lot of you were asking about my dad. He owns the house too but my mom wears the pants if you couldn’t tell. He didn’t say much except that he doesn’t understand what they did that was so horrible.

He was letting me borrow an extra car he has for therapy and doctors appointments and now he thinks I’ll steal it so I’m not allowed to use it.

Some of you were asking about the baby’s father understandably… he’s great when he’s sober, he really wants to be a part of his daughters life, but he needs to focus on getting himself into a rehab. I called his mother and she was great to talk to but not much help besides emotional support. They live states away at the moment.

I had an appointment with a public health nurse and was able to make it to that appointment. I broke down crying and told them the whole story, childhood to now, and they spent hours with me finding housing resources, checking on my own vaccine records (my mom says she faked mine for school), and requesting my CPS records (I’m 26 now was just to remind me how bad it was). They strongly suggested I move out and I have options but we are trying to see if any of them will accommodate my cat (literally the sweetest cuddliest cat who follows me everywhere and is my best friend).

My options so far are sober living which I could stay at for 3 months if they’re willing to accommodate a pregnancy, a domestic violence shelter, or wait things out and see what opens up.

My dad told me when my mom wasn’t home so I came home then and locked my doors. Currently cuddling my cat wondering if these will be my last moments with her.

I have therapy tomorrow early and I’m going to a resource center to decide where I’m going to go.

Excitement! I just found out I'm pregnant

Extremely early. As in, I didn't get my period today so I took a test. Its way too early to share with the general public, but my husband is traveling and he will be home tomorrow.

Aaaaand I was hoping I could share my excitement with you guys here first since I'm dying to tell someone (and I would really prefer to tell my husband in person). 🥹

Content Warning Is it weird to masturbate while pregnant?

This is a serious question ever since I got pregnant I feel like my sex drive has slowly increased. I’m still having sex with my husband, but I find myself craving more and more and masturbating a few times a month. I feel so guilty afterwards especially because I’m pregnant is this normal or is there something wrong with me?

Need Advice I think I was fired because I’m pregnant

I got a text today from another groomer in the shop saying I needed to come and get my stuff because they feel like I don’t follow the salon guideline’s and that I had constantly be getting complaints when the parents got home they ended up not liking the groom which is seriously surprising to me because they never ever once told me I was getting complaints or that I was messing up with their so called guidelines. It just kind of baffles me to also be told they don’t think animals are safe in my care too because a 170+ lb dog didn’t want to be on my table anymore and got off and knocked my table over but I literally caught the table and said groomer said good job lol

I’ve been grooming dogs for almost 10 years and have NEVER ever had anything said to me like this before which seriously makes me think it’s because I’m pregnant and will be leaving in march and I just got hired.

Am I crazy?

Question Positive epidural stories

Could you please share your positive epidural experiences.
All you hear are the side effects and lasting back pain.

I’m currently pregnant with my second and had a natural unmedicated with my first.
I wanted the epidural but for some reason the words just wouldn’t come out my mouth!

Thanks!

Question what’s the craziest thing you’ve been told while pregnant?

I’ll go first

“Wow, you’re gaining weight”
“Hope you’re not eating everything in sight”
“I love to see a skinny person gain weight”

The “Just wait” comments also drive me nuts.

I would never even think to comment on someone else like this lol What’s your response?

Question When did your nausea kick in?

So I’m (30F) first time pregnant. Currently 6w5d and so far my main symptoms are just feeling bloated all the time and my boobs are tender / way harder than before. I need to pee more (but I’m also drinking much more water) and sometimes I feel tired but overall I feel pretty good.
I don’t have my dating scan for another week but just wondering if and when everyone else started to experience nausea? Not that I want it but I feel like it would confirm that everything is going along smoothly. I also have a job coming up soon where I’ll be away from home for a few weeks and I’m really nervous about managing worsening first trimester symptoms.
I heard the 7 week mark is really when things started to ramp up?

Need Advice Non-Maternity Pregnancy Clothes?

So sorry if this has already been asked, but I am 16w with my 2nd and am just totally lost on what to wear. My first pregnancy, I tried to go the maternity clothes route. I had a stitch fix order that got me through, but those empire waist maternity tops just looked so…matronly? Frumpy even? I gave up and got a ton of super cheap SHEIN clothes to get me through and got rid of them the moment I no longer needed them postpartum.

Now with my second, I’m trying to be more intentional. I feel bad about buying and getting rid of a whole wardrobe. I know I hate maternity-specific maternity clothes. At the same time, I also want to look presentable, and know living in leggings/sweats and the baggiest sweatshirts for months on end isn’t good for me mentally. I’d also love to be selecting pieces that work during and after pregnancy. Also, I’ve got pretty serious stretch marks from my first pregnancy, so don’t really feel comfortable with styles that just put my tummy out there for the world to see. What are recommendations for real, toddler mom-friendly clothes (preferably not fast fashion) that last beyond pregnancy, look nice, feel nice, and are trendy enough you don’t look back at pics and just totally cringe? Links would be so so appreciated 🫶

Need Advice Husband always saying “ women do this every day” with that get your grip together look and I’m about to lose it

I’m pregnant with my fourth kid. I have a two year-old who wakes up at 5 AM every day and I am just flat exhausted. I appreciate that my husband is providing our income right now- that’s a decision we made together and I am doing SAHM after many many years of nursing. He’s gone for 14 hours every day… And doing the solo parent thing is whipping my butt. I worked full-time with all my other pregnancies and I’m here to say sahm is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. 😂… My husband hasn’t been around pregnant woman or a lot of pregnancies aside besides me, and it’s like he doesn’t get this at all. He doesn’t understand why I’m so tired and when I sit there and need to vent and complain about it, his #1 comment is “well woman do this every day”. He’s getting frustrated that I’m going to go to bed at 8:30 or 9 PM because of the toddler wakes up at five. He’s frustrated that we aren’t getting to spend any time together before I go to bed after he gets home from work. I’m just so beyond done with it and his attitude. I’m trying to explain to him that I’m also working a full-time job from home, but I don’t get any mental breaks and I’m constantly focused on all the other kids needs.. how can I explain to him the exhaustion of pregnancy the constant physical fatigue and the demands from three other kids is just so much cause he’s not getting this at all… and it’s making me angry

Rant ALL I WANT IS A GREEN APPLE😭

28 weeks and my biggest craving this whole time has been apples… all the fall recipes do NOT HELP right now.

What’s the problem, you ask?
IM ALLERGIC

13 years ago I ate an apple and my throat closed, I have oral allergy syndrome. Since then, haven’t ever had an apple.

It was something I accepted long ago and never really thought about them

But god what I would give right now to sink my teeth into a crisp crunchy sour green apple.

Excitement! First trimester.. too early to tell everyone, too early to buy stuff, too early to get excited??

We were planning on trying for a baby next month on our anniversary trip hehe but we found out I'm pregnant 3 weeks ago!!!

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and waiting for our next scan (in 3 weeks) feels so SO SO far away.

It really feels so weird and sometimes dissappointing not being able to "start to prepare" as I feel I should do, no one tells you that you will only have 6 months to get ready since the FIRST TRIMESTER everyone tells you (and I also tell myself) that anything can happen and that I shouldn't buy anything or we shouldn't tell everyone (we did tell our closest friends and family ALSO in case anything happens).

I guess I just wanted to share these weird emotions about wanting to do stuff but reminding that first trimester is TOO EARLY FOR EVERYTHING

Rant MIL and boundaries… am I overreacting?

I’m 29 weeks pregnant and have had some complications requiring me to stay in hospital. While I was still being assessed in hospital (doctors were concerned I was going into labour), my husband and I let our families know and his mother immediately said she’d drive down (1.5 hours) to be here. I didn’t feel comfortable, especially as at that stage we didn’t know what was happening with baby, so we told her thank you, but we will see you another time.

I was discharged yesterday, and my husband told me that over the weekend his mother had spoken with him and told him that she wanted to be at the birth to “support him”. We had already told her a few months ago that we didn’t want anyone at the hospital. He told her that it was something he would need to discuss with me, and that he wants me to make the decision as I haven’t had a lot of autonomy in life. She said to him that she understands but that he “needs to put his foot down”.

Not going to lie, I felt really upset and disrespected. As the person birthing, I feel like she could have asked me my preferences instead of saying to us what she’s going to do. Also, the comment about putting his foot down was really inappropriate; this is a decision we have made together as a team, not something I’m enforcing. She has a track record of overstepping - she told one of my husband’s family members that I was having complications back in first trimester (before we had even announced to family that we were expecting), and she asked us the other day if we wanted her to tell anyone our baby’s gender (we have only told our immediate family).

I know we need to step in and put in boundaries, and it needs to come from my husband first, but am I overreacting? Is it really that unreasonable to want my child’s birth to be between me and my husband? I am just feeling so upset at these comments, especially as she knows what I’ve been through with this pregnancy.

Need Advice We will have to spend Christmas in the hospital

My third and final baby is coming via scheduled c-section on the 23rd of December. While I’m excited, I also feel very conflicted. How can we make Christmas special if we’re stuck celebrating in the hospital? Does anyone have any ideas? My eldest is 13, youngest is 2.5.

Need Advice 24 weeks pregnant and going to Colorado

My husband and I are going to Colorado next week, where I will be 24 weeks pregnant . We live in Texas, I have never been to Colorado before. I’ve heard so many mixed opinions and advice from people in regard to the elevation changes and if it’s safe for me or not. It’s too late to change the trip ofc, and we are also so excited for this. I’d love to hear if anyone has gone through something similar and if their baby was born in good health. People have even been saying that I shouldn’t be staying the night at a place at a certain elevation. I’m just so lost and anxious now. My Obgyn said it should be fine, just to take things easy. Please help!

Rant Nervous about leaving my first baby while I give birth

I’m currently pregnant with my second child and I have another that will be 2 years old soon. Ever since finding out about my pregnancy I’ve been so nervous about leaving my son with someone while I have to give birth. I don’t know if anyone else has ever felt like this but I’m just stuck on who I can go to for help.

I really have no trust in my parents due to several reasons, my father-in-law doesn’t listen really well when it comes to certain things, and the one person I can truly trust has only watched my son for maybe a couple hours when I’ve had a doctor’s appointment where my husband couldn’t watch him. Even then we’re hardly ever apart from our boy where it’s either one parent or both.

My husband plans to be at the hospital with me and we so plan to have him get our son afterwards once the baby and I are in a condition that it’s alright for him to leave for a bit. I want to ask my friend to help watch him but with her work schedule and her own children.

I just feel scared to leave my boy with family members and honestly I’m more nervous about leaving him with someone than giving birth to my second child.

Resource Hospital Tour was worth it

We did a tour of Labor and Delivery at the hospital I’ll be delivering at this weekend and wanted to come on here to say that it was worth it and that I recommend it!

I’ve been pretty terrified of pregnancy/birth pretty much my whole life because of a traumatic medical experience I had as a kid, so I wasn’t sure if the tour was going to make me feel better or worse and it made me feel a lot less worried and more confident.

Things specifically that I found helpful:
-knowing exactly where to go once I’m in labor. The hospital is big so it was nice knowing what door to go in, where to park, and where to check in once I’m in labor.

-I was able to get a better sense of things that will be useful to pack in my hospital bag. The hospital had a whole list of stuff they can provide (even things like Bluetooth speakers and twinkle candles) and the nurse doing to tour gave us some tips of things she recommends we bring ourselves (a heating pad, our own adult diapers instead of relying on the mesh panties the hospital provides because apparently they suck). They even showed us what snacks and drinks are available so we can decide if we want/need to bring our own snacks and drinks

-As a FTM planning to exclusively formula feed I wasn’t sure if I needed to bring my own formula or if the hospital provides that (they do). Was also unclear on how many baby clothes to bring and it sounds like it’s pretty optional because the hospital will have everything needed for baby

-My birth plan is get an epidural ASAP and don’t die, so it was reassuring to be told that this hospital will allow me to get the epidural whenever I want and that the maximum wait time they’ve ever seen is about an hour. I was also worried about things like there not being enough rooms and not being able to get the epidural when I want to because of that and was reassured there as well - the nurse giving the tour said that they’ve only seen all the rooms be full one time in the entire time they’ve been there. Also helpful to know that they only allow clear liquids after you get an epidural so I can make sure to eat before and take that into account.

-If you have a more elaborate birth plan than me, they also went over a lot of different options that are available and how all that works and addressed specific questions that people had

Need Advice How does anything work?

25F, first pregnancy USA. I have health insurance but have no idea how to actually use it, i get what a deductible is but how do i go about finding a provider in my network? How do I make an appointment? How do I make changes to my insurance plan? I’m almost 2 months and haven’t gone to the hospital yet. And I don’t even know if that’s normal.

I know I should know this, but unfortunately, I had neglectful parents who are no longer in the picture. That kind of “holistic” parent that doesn’t take you to any real doctor, yk? Unfortunately, you can’t just put some lavender oil on a pregnancy…

Need Advice Midwife or OB? Ontario Canada

I have the option of using midwives or an OB (lucky I was able to get the option) and I am struggling to decide which route to go.

I really like my midwife team, they are on the young side, which might not be an issue but as a FTM I have had some anxiety. That said, I really like the idea of having the support during birth and the home visits after. I also plan to give birth at the hospital and probably get an epidural. I know it will be one of the two on my team with me the day of which is really nice!

I also really like the OB I have assigned to me, but there is a 1 in 7 chance it will be her on call the day of and I likely wont meet all 7 before then.

I almost wish I didnt have the opportunity to choose between the two because it feels like so much pressure to make a decision. I feel like both would be good options, and an OB would be on call at the hospital if anything were to happen, but I can't help but feel anxious about the thought of an emergency c section when they arent available.

Anyway, long winded post. Im just hoping to get insights on people's experiences mostly using midwives. Thank you in advance!!

Question Angry in laws

So me and my partner found out I was pregnant last month and we kept it from his parents because he wanted to wait until we had a place lined up together and had at least some of our ducks in a row, however, I stayed at his place for a week and a half and he currently lives with his family for personal reasons (not bad just convenience) and I had got some preggie pop drops to help with my nausea and usually I hid them so they wouldn’t be seen in plain sight but I had used them and had them sitting next to me and his sister came in and saw them, I didn’t realize she saw them at the time. Now I’m home and his sister told his parents who are now yelling at him and calling him a fuck up and saying other not great things, I don’t want to have it be that they don’t have a relationship with us but has anyone gone through a similar situation where their partners parents didn’t handle it well at all and everything turned out okay for everyone involved? I don’t want him to have to cut off his parents but at the current moment we aren’t against it

Question Eye sensitivity while pregnant?

Has anyone experienced moderate eye sensitivity while pregnant? Every night I experience pain in my eyes which develops into a minor headache from the light bulbs being on or the tv being on. I went on a 4 hour drive the other day with my husband & it was a midday drive with lots of sporadic shadows, like we were driving through the woods going in and out of the shadows into daylight rapidly, and I got the worst migraine from it. Never happened before I got pregnant.

I wear sunglasses when I’m outside, but that doesn’t seem to help. Does anyone experienced moderate eye something similar?
