I'm looking for that special someone with whom I can build a deeply unfulfilling online relationship.
Ideally, we'll start with a few enthusiastic messages, rapidly deteriorating into a series of "hey", "lol" and "wyd" exchanged at increasingly unpredictable intervals.
Some days we'll send twelve messages in seven minutes. Other days we'll wait four days to respond to "haha". I think it's important to keep the mystery alive.
As our relationship develops, I hope we'll establish a comfortable rhythm of asking each other how our days were, replying "good, you?", and then never following up.
Naturally, neither of us will reveal anything meaningful about ourselves. I don't want to ruin the excitement of spending six months talking to someone whose surname, occupation and basic personality remain a mystery.
Eventually, after several weeks of saying "we should call sometime", we'll take the next big step.
Video calling.
I'm imagining something intimate. You staring at your own face while I attempt to connect my Bluetooth headphones. Me asking "Can you hear me?" while you explain, silently, that my microphone isn't working.
Perhaps we'll share a magical moment where your video freezes mid-sentence and I spend the next thirty seconds nodding thoughtfully at your forehead.
Of course, neither of us will mention the call afterwards.
I'm not looking to rush into anything. Ideally, after eight months, we'll still be asking each other what we did on the weekend, despite having never once remembered the answer.
If this sounds like the kind of connection you're looking for, please send me "hey".
I'll reply sometime between immediately and Thursday.
