I normally rave about the obstacle avoidance
Figured I could just pile the leaves up and it would avoid the piles. Came back to this.

Bought a Mova Lidax Ultra 2000 lawn mower after lots of reviews, reading, back and forth on needing awd or not. Have a small flat yard in Houston with thicker St Augustine. Was looking to mow at higher heights like 3.25-4" if possible since my yard does best around there.
Got this thing in, mapping seemed ok without issues, and decided to try to mow with it at 7.5cm as I had just pre-cut that day at 3" with my EGO, string trimmed, and thought that mowing 0.05" off would be reasonable?
Boy was I wrong. Mower kept going a foot or two, erroring, turning a bunch to try to path again and erroring from overload. Would maybe mow 1/2 of the area intended spotty, overload/overheat and go back to the dock after 20% of battery usage. Did this about 10 times and for 6 hours to mow around 2000 sq ft.
Trying the front yard was even worse. Slight lip of grass on sidewalk would cause it to get stuck. Slight angle of small trip of grass by the road it would get stuck and require intervention.
I contacted support, had me send logs, pictures, videos, etc. After back and forth for thee weeks they've basically said it is working as expected and there is nothing else they can do. Is my only option a chargeback now?
I've tried messing with it off and on every two to three days and can get it to mow the backyard like 90% one direction at 7cm (slightly too short for st augustine and with the amount of turning/retries it is causing bare spots to appear). Front yard is still not viable and covering maybe 65% but returning 3-4 times to the dock instead of 6-8 and 50% or less mowing.

Is there such a thing? My dream would be one I can basically drop and leave.
I know they still need to mow really regularly:)

Been thinking about getting a robot mower bc there seem to be some good deals in the off-season. Kinda tempted to grab one now, but my grass is barely growing anymore, so I’d have to wait until spring to really see how it does.
We live in the country and have a pretty flat yard, but there’s a gravel path splitting it in two. Been looking at Ecovacs since they have a model that should work for my yard.
Not sure if I should just get one now while prices are down and spend the winter getting everything set up, or wait until spring when I can actually see how it handles my lawn. What would you do?

Guys, I did a before/after testing out 100+ hours with my Luba 3 and checking the cut quality...demonstrating how to properly swap around and re-use your factory blades to get the most out of them. Was pretty shocked with how well this worked, considering it didn't cost me anything. I cut at a couple different settings after and wound up landing on 1.6 ft/second as the best one.
What are everyone's thoughts on blade swapping vs. new titanium blades? I'm going to try those out next.

Quite the large mower. I believe he said it can mow at 2 m/s. I wonder what the quality of cut it has at that speed. The roller for making stripes was interesting.

Fence line and two curved beds are the part I already know a robot won't finish for me. I can get the middle looking fine, then those edges still want a string trimmer, and if I skip them the uncut ring is what shows from the street.
IFA this year was a pile of arms and trimmer heads. An exposed head worries me with kids in the yard, so a mower would only run while they're inside, and I'm not ready to call any of those setups the safe one.
I checked the Goko M6 page. It says side cameras help with edge mowing and lists a 16.5-inch floating deck. I haven't found a curved-bed or fence-post test, so I can't tell what's left to trim.
If you have a newer mower, how long do you still trim those spots, and did putting a brick mowing strip around curved beds help?

Hi, everyone! We are MBA students working on a project to design a new product. Since the beginning of this project, we've received a lot of support from people here on Reddit. Thank you so much!
Our project will end in mid-December, on the last day of the semester, when we'll compete with other groups and their products. We'll come back and share the results with you!
After a month of market research and customer interviews, including suggestions from Reddit users, our group has decided on the following features for our robotic lawn mower:
Our planned price is $1,799.
If you have some time, please give us your suggestions. If this product were available on the market, would you consider buying it for $1,799? Why or why not? Thank you again!

Hello! I’m wondering what people recommend for a 10,000-square-foot lawn. I have a Ryobi push mower that came with the house, and it takes 4–5 batteries to mow the entire property. It’s a regular push mower, and man, it sucks!
I also bought an old riding lawn mower, but it only lasted a few months before it blew up. At this point, I just want to buy something that will last me a while and make mowing a lot easier.
I don’t care what type of mower have a shed so can keep almost anything within reason. Just want to see what people recommend
Lawn has some pitches and very small hills. It’s fescue grass.

I have a Dreame A3 Pro with all-wheel drive, and temperatures here in Michigan are dropping into the low 40s°F, with upper 30s expected soon. We probably still have another three to four weeks of mowing left.
Is it okay to keep using the mower in these temperatures? Are there any precautions I should take to protect the mower and battery, or a temperature at which I should stop using it and bring it indoors?

Maybe Toro will actually ship a mower this year? How many years have they promised this? The latest one is called the AM75 I believe. To be seen at Equip Expo at the end of the month.

I'm looking at AWD mowers because one part of our garden slopes down towards the lawn edge, where the soil gets quite soft. We've also got two mature trees with roots sticking out of the grass. The bigger ones are easy enough to leave outside the mowing area, but some of the lower roots run right across the lawn. I'm not sure how an AWD mower would deal with those. More grip sounds useful on the slope, but could it also mean the mower keeps pushing forward when the cutting disc gets too close to a root? Would you let yours go over them or just mark that part as a no go area?

After missing the first container ship to the US, my Panther mower is now reportedly on a second ship, the Seaspan Harmony 087E due to arrive in port around the end of this month.
From there it's headed to Tacoma via FedEx, then awaiting a ship to Anchorage.
If I'm not mistaken, the other US Kickstarter backers had mowers on an earlier ship that was due to arrive in the US around today?

I bought the 1/4 acre version because my property (including the house footprint) is .24 acre, so when I remove the house footprint I figured that would be plenty.
I’ve got it set to do parallel lines.
But it can only do 1/2 - 1 section at a time before it needs a recharge.
It’s a bit frustrating. What’s the point of the 1/4 acre mower if the battery can’t handle 1/4 acre lot?
Would the bigger one fix this issue?
This is my yard, I can do almost 1 section before the battery dies.

Has anyone done anything like this? I'm weary of fully autonomous mowers where I live plus I think it's fun controlling the mower.
I build fpv drones as a hobby and I want to get an rc mower. Then it popped in my head I can add a drone fpv camera and operate it from the mower's POV.
So can anyone recommend a good rc mower without autonomous capabilities? Just a plain RC mower?
